Coming off a 93-99 loss to the Rockets. What adjustments must the Lakers make to bounce back and win game 6? One win away from advancing. How do you see this one going? Any injury updates to share?
Lakers at Rockets Playoff Game 6 Game Day 2026-05-01
Lakers Forum » Lakers Game DayLast game, Hayes, LaRavia, Kennard and Vanderbilt combined had 5 points.
The defense was quite impressive holding them to 99 points.
The turnovers were again a disaster with 15 and only 19 assists comparatively.
Some claim this was due to the Rocket's defense but I watch the Lakers consistently make lazy, bad angle passes that grandma could steal.
What could improve? These things and play the bench JJ. 7 players did not touch the court including 3 point shooters that were desperately needed.
And lastly, the first half was mostly OK but they had not inspiration or energy apparently for the second half.
Props to Ayton for an 18 and 17 game...
The Lakers seem to have fallen into a pattern of threes at the end of the season and start of the playoffs.
They lost 3 then won three, won three again and if the pattern holds, they will lose game six and then win Game 7.
That logic is better than trying to guess performances which are different every game.
Luke and Jax vanished in the last one!
I agree with Skyeword that JJ needs to use the bench when other players are not showing up. The turn overs are killing the Lakers. Lazy passes, long passes sometimes over throwing the ball for another turn over.
I’m calling it now, this Lakers team will be the first team in NBA history to blow a 3-0 lead in a series. I can already see the way this series is trending and it’s not good.
Lakers with a nice start lead by Lebron and good D. Would be great to keep a double digit lead at the half.
Houston won that challenge, but they say jump ball despite Ayton getting the rebound right after WTH?
Kennard gets hit on the head by Sengun, no call
What a move by Reaves- stop, spins, drop step for 2! Lakers up 40-25
What a job on D, and Lebron runs the other way for the one-legged triple! Lakers up 49-31 at the half!
What's difference tonight?
The Lakers are making their shots?
They seem to be dismantling the rockets' defense with ease.
Lakers up by eighteen at the half. Good defense by the Lakers the first half. Ayton is the one who has not scored much. I believe he has three at the half.
Hopefully they keep the same intensity the second half to close this pesky Houston team and send them out fishing.
Rui boom from the corner- Lakers 54-33!
Lakers have done a great job rebounding and pushing, getting easy buckets or trips to the line. Of course playing good D comes before the rebounding.
Excellent dish out of the paint by Ayton to Rui who drills yet another triple!
Reaves has done a good job attacking the hoop. Zooms through the paint for another layup!
Just have to rebound and this game is a lock
The Lakers defense tonight is amazing.
Several times they contained them until the 24 second shot clock ran out.
At this time, with about 10 minutes to go, Houston has only 57 points...
And with 8 minutes to go, they have 58 points...
I want to see JJ rip LeBron a new one for that lazy pass.... ![]()
So Thompson throws Austin to the floor, a violation which would normally lead to an ejection, and he isn't called at all?
At 4 minutes they have 67...
At 3 minutes they still have 67...
Houston huddling to mount their comeback...
Dave, did you guess this score? ![]()
What a beatdown, keyed by defense, rebounding and sharp shooting from deep. With Reaves back as a threat to attack the paint, guys got a lot of open looks outside, and they didn't miss many.
Wow Thiero with a monstrous slam!
Bring on the Thunder! Let's see if Luka will be ready in the coming week.
At 2 minutes, they have 69...
Houston huddling to mount their comeback...
Yeah what a defensive effort by the Lakers. Holding the Rockets to under 80 on the road- guys stepped up big.
I actually did submit a score (Lakers by 1) but there was a bug in the auto game thread creation system (it created game 6 for 4/30 which was wrong) so it didn't link up with the correct thread. But that bug has been fixed going forward.
And Lakers second team allowed a bunch of points during garbage time to allow the Rockets to finish with 79...
Next, the OKC friggin' Thunder.
Maybe a zone defense JJ? Pick 'em up at half court?

There was a bug for either game 4 or 5 as well. It was one day off and was counting down the timer 24 hours early...
I liked the way JJ kept switching players with bench players as soon as they showed being tired. LaRavia played pretty good for a change. I was a little disappointed with Kennard not wanting to shoot. That is disappointing because he was wide open several times and he just kept passing the ball back. But he did play good defense and I guess that is all that mattered tonight because the Lakers won big. Defense was excellent.
Now we go against OKC and lets hope the Lakers go into the game with a killer attitude, thinking positive that they can beat this former champion team.
