What's scares me more is if they have AD play a lot of minutes at 5. Injury waiting to happen. Imo

Considering what's left on FA market, would not have a problem with it.

Hell go see if Bynum can still play. Lmao

This is really bad news for the lakers and feel bad for DMC. He was in the best shape of his life and was supposed to be the X factor on the team. Problem with Achilles injuries is that other areas of the body over compensate and you are like a ticking time bomb for future injuries. Hope he doesn’t miss too many games.

Need to take a look at Howard and Bynum as others have suggested.

It is tough to read about Cousins and how it will effect the Laker season. Lakers still have other players that can play the five. We still have McGee and I am sure they will find someone else.

The Lakers are still number four favored to win the title. 76ers favored number one.

Omg, no to Bynum. Are you kidding? You think his attitude (and knees) have improved? LOL. I'd rather go DH12 for sure. Since we don't need him to carry the team. KL really screwed us over. Don't like this current trend of players messing with teams while waiting for decisions, planting fake news etc. Too much at stake now. Something needs to change there. And btw McGee can't play long minutes, he has asthma. Not sure who else is out there. But doubt there is still anyone better than the DH12 option. Unless they opt to wait and see what shakes out during the season. But even still, don't see any big names 5's coming available. So DH12 it is.

Now, will the Lakers be able to get a full injury exception? I would think so. That would help a lot.

Sadly DMC is done. Achilles, Quad, Knee. He'll be a shadow of his old self after all that, and not until next season, when the next injury takes him out. Always a risk with big men. Now, how sorry do you think he is for turning down the Sacramento money? Dang he left a boat load on the table, and now his ship has sailed. Sad. Not a good decision maker.

Btw Faried and NeNe are also still available. Looks like Howard signed with the Grizzlies. So he's out. Neither of them can play starters minutes tho. Gasol anyone? Ooops he signed with Portland. Noah? Oops he's with Grizzlies now also. Amare? Playing in Israel. Bogut? He's playing in Australia. Monroe? lol. Looks like Tyson Chandler signed with Houston.

Monroe would be the youngest option anyways. Playing in Germany atm.

Damn. The guy got a new agent. Landed in a potential dream situation. And bam, down he goes in a freaking pick up game. The rest of the league just got a whole lot less worried. Ans they're dancing in Clipper town...SMH! Are the Lakers snake bit? We'll see. DMC certainly is. Sheeesh.

All his injuries have been to the same leg btw.

I'm starting to think that we somehow inherited the Clippers curse. This is really disappointing considering we probably won't get him back until after the All Star break. We can not get a break. I am curious as to when you folks think he is likely to return. We need a back up center quickly

I don't think he will be able to play all of next season. Look for a G- league player who can play the five spot. There might be some player out there just waiting for a chance like this. Use him while McGee is resting.

Still shows him on their roster. Not sure. Internet says it's expected he'll be bought out, but hasn't been yet. Which now means they won't, since no one wants to help LA. Probably the best bet if he's available. He can play real minutes. Seems to be the de facto favorite now. https://heavy.com/sports/2019/08/dwight-howard-lakers-twitter/ https://clutchpoints.com/dwight-howard-would-make-the-ultimate-redempt ion-story-by-going-to-the-lakers/ There's also Maurice Speights. Used to play for Vogel. https://hoopshype.com/2019/08/15/demarcus-cousins-acl-joakim-noah-amar e-stoudemire-dwight-howard/ Btw here's the video of DMC blowing his ACL out...looked innocent enough. https://lakers.newssurge.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-52836.html#1010358 ....

Exactly. Here is a list of 5 possibles. Howard #2, Faried #1. He is younger.

Or there's Mozgov LMAO! Can you imagine the outcry if they took TM???? Hahahahahahahaha

I'd rather cut my nuts with a rusty razor than sign Mozgov. I'm not kidding. I'm for DH or Faired.

You folks would know more about this than myself, but how does this work for Cousins if he misses the entire season? Sits for 3.5 mil and becomes a free agent?

Same here with Faried. Not really keen on Howard coming back, honestly would like to see Marquesse Chriss get a shot, but can the Lakers going for experience. With a majority of our picks gone, seeing if Chriss can develop with us would not be a bad idea, considering we have Phil Handy and Jason Kidd who can develop the kid into something better.

Yep. He gets the money and honestly, I hope the Lakers keep him, let him rehab and resign the dude. He has went through ALOT and I want to see him succeed. And please don't disembowel yourself when Mozgov gets here...lol!!! Moz and Bron connection!!!

I agree, but he would owe us at that point. I feel for him, but we are going to pay him to sit around the entire season. I'd be really pissed of he signed with someone else for more money.

I wouldn't. But after this, big money payouts for him are difficult. 3 major leg injuries within 2 years and he will be thirty soon? If he comes back strong, I imagine the Lakers will have first shot at him, but if he does leave, I won't be pissed at the dude. After all this and he still comes back from it, then he deserves a decent payday and some stability after all these injuries.

Faried played real good this last season. He would be my choice over Howard. Howard has never really impressed me. Not sure about this Shala Mejri, never seen him play. But if he is 7'2" and if he is as good as some of you guys mention, then he might be the guy to sign up.

Now as to sign Cousins again after his recovery which takes all of the season, I would be scared to take a chance on him again. Just look at what we are paying him for doing nothing this coming season as a Vegas gambling loss. Feel sorry for Cousins, he was really looking forward to playing with LeBron and Davis.

I think we should just sign him or Howard. Complete the roster with the recent injury of Cousins.

What a tragedy. I was really looking forward to watching him return to All-Star form. I had this feeling that he was going to be a significant part of the "big-three". I guess I was wrong. I read an article specifying that he may have played his last game in the NBA. Not sure of the validity with that, but it is possible.

Sadly, gotta move on from Cousins. He's getting paid this year to rehab. But do we have to keep him for that time? Or can they waive him and pay him now? No way you take a chance on a guy with such severe injuries one after the other. Even if somehow by some miracle he does bounce back, best he do it somewhere else. With AD not wanting to play much at the 5, we better start looking at a real potential replacement. Mejri is 33. Has played only in Dallas and for 4 years. I don't think he's....

Cousins did not bump knees. He was not touched. What does that mean? Torn ACL during a layup?

Faried is the best fit especially with the second team.

The Lakers have not recovered since the first time Howard cursed LA...

The Lakers have 5 starting caliber point guards. Count 'em 5, and perhaps 2 shootings guards in Danny Green and KCP although Green is listed as a SF!

Lebron, Green, Kuz! I don't think so... Kuz will come off the bench behind LeBron! Green is gonna start at the 2 I predict despite his perimeter defensive capabilities.

The only reasonable choice given Rondo, Bradley, Caruso, Cook and Daniels, given that all but Rondo can hit the 3 consistently, is to run a 2 PG backcourt.

Slide Daniels over as the third team 2. That's crazy depth.

This is a running, Showtime team with a second team that will not skip a beat. This ought to tell the front office the kind of centers they need.

Faried is unquestionably the best fit. A slow 5 who clogs up the key for Lebron and Davis is gonna bog down the Lakers obvious strengths.

Faried is a double double guy given 20-25 minutes a game and Javale remains a good fit for all of these reasons too.

If the new coach has half a clue, nobody will easily beat this team. Faried will match up against the Clippers Harrell when needed and will start occasionally I predict.

I like Faried, but he's too short to start at the 5. He's shorter than AD. Makes no sense, except for small ball. I don't mind having him on the team, to be sure, but not as a starting 5. And McGee has asthma, and can't play long minutes. Of course they could slide AD in and out of the 4/5 spots along with whoever is on the floor. If it's McGee then AD plays the 4, is Manimal, then 5. But from what we hear Lakers are meeting with centers the next few days, and Faried sin't on the....
