Discussion: Myriad Ramifications in Jim Buss's vow to turn the Lakers around or quit.

Jim Buss's declaration to turn the Lakers around or quit was as bold as it was unusual. In all my years of watching sports I have never heard of an owner who also was so involved in player operations making this kind of promise. There is danger there for him. Also possible danger for the team if he rushes to full fill his stated obligation.

While we all hope that in four years the Lakers will have a contender, nothing is guaranteed. Injuries, bad drafts, chemistry, whether free agents want to come all play a part. And will....

Discussion: King Kobe Bryant speaks on Buss and rebuilding, as in NOW!

King Kobe Bryant just dished out his thoughts on the Lakers problems and he minced no words. This is nothing new from a player who publicly sets team pecking orders, disses teamates on videos to strangers, demands to be traded two years after the break up of threepeat and called Jerry Buss a liar and last year, three weeks into the season told fans and the media to shut up and relax because the team would fine. When Kobe wants to speak, he doesn't hold back. And apparently he no longer thinks the team will be fine. So the Kobe....

Coach DAntoni: the exact man for the right team at the perfect time.

All news is dismal for the Lakers: They sit at the bottom of the Pacific with a lowly 14-25 record, their losing skein has his six games and their record for the last ten games is an abysmal 1-9.

For this once proud franchise that only yesterday seemed on top of the world, winning two titles in three trips to finals this seems like a strange, inverted world; the Lakers as the Charlotte Hornets.

And with each loss, each failure, each mounting frustration, the clarion call grows louder: fire Coach D'Antoni. He is not the man....

Discussion: Lebron and Kobe take divergent paths, or how long will God love Lebron's game?

Today I read an article comparing the now divergent paths of the old, injured Kobe Bryant and the young, in his prime Lebron James. It was an interesting read.

What really caught my attention more than anything else was LBJ's comment that "the man above knows how much time he's going to give me in this game. And once he decides I don't have any more time to give, then I'll have to call it quits."

When I read that, I thought, the man upstairs? Who would that be? Perhaps he is talking of the day Pat Riley....

Kobe Bryant picks his top five of all time.

A few days ago, Kobe picked his all time top five team. He took Magic, Jordan, Bird, Russell and Jabbar.

A pretty good list but as we all know, there is always room for debate simply because there have been so many transcendent basketball gods over the years. He didn't really say whether he was picking by position, but the team seems to be by position except for Russell, who perhaps he moved to power forward? Or maybe that is just his all time team regardless of position.

One remark that caught my attention was him....

Do you believe in Andrew Wiggins...well do you..punk?

The big college news last week was Andrew Wiggins signing on for his inevitable one year stint at Kansas before taking flight to the pros via the number one pick in the lottery.

Wiggins is considered the best player to come out of high school since Lebron. That is saying a lot. How much? Well, think about the hype Lebron had back then and also think that Kevin Durant came out after Lebron.

So that begs the question, should the Lakers make a play to be in a position to get that top lottery pick?

I want to start off by saying this is neither pro-Dwight article nor even an anti-Dwight post. It is an honest look at the ramifications of keeping him or letting him go. It is a look we as fans and more especially the FO needs to take, long and deep, before they decide what they would like to do. Its a look that in light of this last season, they should have, evaluate and discuss, more than once, in an effort to start turning around what happened to this team in 2013 and hopefully make sure the near and....

Kobe Bryants achilles roles the final snake eyes on FO's gamble.

In last nights game against Golden State, the iron body of Kobe Bryant finally did what all bodies do over time, bend and break to the ineluctable entropy of age and all that comes with it.

To see Kobes season and very possibly his career end because of injury was as shocking as seeing a mid July snowstorm because it is something that just doesnt happen, not an event you even consider nor plan for because years of experience tells you it just is a flat out impossibility.

This sad event and the repercussions it has on....

Reading the game day thread during and after the Dallas game, it was interesting to notice some of the very optimistic opinions of the team. Because the team is playing better now and on the heels of that road win, some comments really caught my eye. Two that come to mind were, “This team will be invincible by the end of the season,” and “We will win the title.”

Of course after the Denver reality check, the see-saw continues again, this time on the downward slide, to despair. And so it goes in a very bad season. Up and....

PIC OF THE DAY - Goes to Kobe and Dwight who played last night like two players who are destined for greatness. Now that Kupchak has proclaimed that they will indeed be together for at least the next couple of years, will they settle down and start playing like brothers?

aka Don Allen

THE KOBE AND DWIGHT ERA BEGINS - Make no mistake about this. Kupchak has joined Kobe and Dwight at the hip, and they will make a playoff run this season. Dwight Howard will sign an extension next....
