Jaxson Hayes Shooting

Lakers Forum » Lakers News

Wondering if the accuracy in this video will translate?

Jaxon rarely showed the confidence to take the ball to the hoop let alone shoot a 3 pointer.

That is great news to read about Jackson Hayes practicing long range shooting. That will help his game.

On another subject just read that Luka Doncic just got injured playing in Slovania. Has anybody found out how serious is his injury?

It's a bone bruise; A knee contusion. He intends to remain and continue playing for Slovenia.

Hayes needs to be in g league

I disagree that Jaxson should be in the G-league. The thing is that Jaxson does exactly what the coaches want him to do and that is play defense and score only while in the painted area. But they never wanted him to be more versatile like taking shots from the three point range. But know they know that to play the five spot you also have to have weight and Jaxson is tall, but does not have the weight to trade blows with big centers that weigh as much as 300lbs. So now finally they decided to start training him on shooting from range making him more dangerous then just dunking. He had become a one trick pony and was disappointing during the playoffs against the Wolves who had several big men. It was hard for me and wondered why the coaching staff of the lakers did not have enough savvy to see that the Lakers were just too small and light in the five spot, yet they kept pushing even AD to play that spot, and AD just hated it. But Jaxson in my opinion gave it 100% most of the time, while others did not in that group of players. Vanderbilt to me was a big disappointment last season. He just was not into the games, looked tired and lazy most of the time, Reddish the same way.

Jaxson Hayes is not a starter, but he sure can come off the bench and perform well. Finally the Lakers have signed a player to play the five that I have always liked. Deandre Ayton if he plays like when he was with the Sun, he will carry this team to a championship. I have heard some stories that he did not perform like that while in Portland which raises the question as to what happened? I obviously think he was not happy when they let him go from the Sun, and was affected mentally to where he was messing up. Hope he clears up his mind and goes back to the great center that he was.

If LeBron leaves, Hayes will likely get waived given the trade stock that will likely include a big.

Hayes is a dependent player, perhaps ideal for some teams 2nd and 3rd squads

For the Lakers, who require players who are assertive and can generate their own shot, he has rarely been a fit.

He tends to take a casual approach and lacks a competitive spirit, or, self confidence.

Jaxson Hayes is getting the same criticism JaVale McGee got when he was a Laker. I always thought the man was good at playing the five spot, but many in this forum used to tear him apart with critic. So the Lakers ended trading him away. Several seasons went by then I was noticing on this forum fans started wishing JaVale was still a Laker. So the same thing is happening with Jaxson. The man played good through the whole season and scoring pretty good. But then came the playoffs and the coaching decided to bench Jaxson and bring him off the bench. Naturally Jaxson did not like it since he had been the starter all season So I noticed that his attitude had changed when he was brought into the game playing very few minutes, and I just did not see his usual energy in the game. Fact he was not even scoring, Finney started for the Lakers and he was just not tall enough to compete with the Timberwolves. The adjustment that the coaches made eliminated the Lakers in the first round. Reddick showed he was a rookie if it was his idea, but really with two experienced asst coaches behind him, they should have told Reddick that you do not pull out a starter when you go into the playoffs and put in another who had never played that position.

Good comparison but Javale was matched with Dwight. Had Javale been a starter like Jaxson, the sentiment would be different. I do recall the Lakers playing both centers at the same time during the championship season. JJ, being a Guard minded coach, never tried that with Hayes.

If Hayes remains, JJ might want to try that given that Hayes is a rim runner with very good defense and would compliment Auton whose skills are primarily offensive.

LeBron is screwing things up by being vague. If he intends to leave, go, rather than waiting to see what’s best for himself! The Lakers could do a three way and get Kuminga along with a role player or two from Cleveland, and have a clear identity from the beginning of the season. All the front office needs to do is to give LeBron a decision deadline. If he fails to respond, he could be coerced to waive his no trade clause and get sent out. The league will agree that it’s unethical to hold an entire franchise hostage for personal gain. He’s waiting to see what the Lakers will do and via verse…. Too much leverage for any player…

I agree that LeBron is holding the Lakers hostage by not giving them a straight answer as to what his plans are for this coming season. But he is also thinking of his two boys. He would like the Lakers to also sign up the other boy who is about to becoming of age, and he also wants Bronny to remain a Laker with an extended contract. Bron would also want an extended contract with the Lakers, but Palinka and the new owners probably can see that LeBron's age is a big factor and they would not be very smart giving an extended contract to a 41 year old man.

I believe the Lakers did give Hayes a two year contract, so they are planning on keeping him. But what I have noticed on MSN on my computer are a lot of other so called Sports Authors posting what they would like to see the Lakers do, and some of them must hate the Lakers because their idea's are dumb. Trade scenarios that would hurt the Lakers more and benefit the other teams as to how the trade scenarios would play out. So I do not believe most of what is being posted.

Kuminga would be a nice addition for the Lakers, but like you posted, LeBron would have to make up his mind where he wants to go. It would free up millions of dollars for the Lakers.

Just read that Jaxson Hayes might not be playing with the Lakers this season. Seems like he had some personal problems with a girl friend might have to face the judge. Also the Lakers did not like how he played against the Timberwolves last season, claimed he did not put enough effort into the games and since his minutes were cut down, they say that he has not been trying to play hard this season. So I guess he is gone.
