So here is an update on what the Lakers have going on tomorrow when Free agency opens up.

LeBron agent has made a statement basically saying LeBron will take a huge pay cut to make the roster better. If LeBron takes an 18 million pay cut. Lakers can use the NTMLE which is 12.9 to a free agent. Currently here are the 3 players being rumored that they will attempt to bite on that 12.9 amount.

Klay Thompson

James Harden

Jonas Valanciunas

If we do use this NTMLE then we will be hard caped at the first apron which is basically we can’t exceed 172mil for entire team rooster.

Other thing to remember is, we can still do a S&T for a player since DLO opted in, but what ever player it is can’t not make more then DLO makes, has to be less.

What a surprise! The Clippers are also extremely interested in those players. Seems like whenever the Lakers express interest in a player, the Clippers are right there with much more money to spend. Why does it seem as if every team in the NBA has so much more money available? We appear to constantly be at a disadvantage. This brings up another point… trades. Whenever the Lakers are involved in trade talks, the asking price skyrockets. The Pelicans just acquired Murray for a bag of chips, but they were asking us to hand over our souls. Doesn’t seem very fair in my opinion.

Don't hold your breath for anybody. We more than likely will have the same roster which equals what?.......You do the math.

We are “interested” in everyone but do nothing. Val signed in Washington for cheap. Klay is going to Dallas. PG to Philly. Lakers can’t get any deals done even with LeBron trying to help. Let’s run it back with a play in team…

LeBron wants too big of a three year contract. The man is old and by all rights should take a big pay cut. He says he will take a pay cut, but I do not believe him.

The big problem in the summer trades is that our General Manager takes too long to even start any kind of negotiations. Last year it was the same way waiting and waiting. In the mean time other teams act fast and grab the best players available in free agency.

We will end up with players that are way over the hill. Like it would not surprise me if Chris Paul ends up with the Lakers. The man is always hurt with groin muscles torn or something.

Lakers will most likely sign Klay

Lebron will take a pay cut

Lakers have still done nothing to get better.

Lakers can’t get anything done. Not even an attempt to get better. Nice job by the front office to give everyone these player options so we can’t improve or sign anyone without trades. LeBron tried to help by recruiting, giving back money, etc.

Looks Klay is heading to Dallas. Valanciunas signed with Washington. Now we will beg DeRozan to come here for god only knows how much we can offer him. Our franchise has become a joke. No one wants to play here.

Well Klay decided on going to the Mavs and it wasn't for the money. He basically took the MLE from Mavs. I'm really surprised seeing how his Dad announces our games and would been there announcing his games as well.

My only guess is his hate for helping LeBron get another ring runs further in his blood then playing in front of his Dad, lol.

Oh well.

I was mostly hoping we get Demar via S&T or MLE. And its been reported that he know longer what's to stay with the Bulls since the AC trade.

Nah Klay wants to stick it to the Warriors. He more than likely didn't feel the Lakers was his best chance to do this with. I can't blame him either.

I wonder if LeBron has figured out that he might be the main reason nobody wants to come to the Lakers?

Being allowed to get paid because LeBron took a pay cut is even more humiliating that D'Lo being sidelined during the playoffs due to the LeBron effect and likely getting traded as a result.

Players remember Kobe's final season where the offense involved dribbling no more than three times and passing to Kobe. It appears that LeBron is gonna be granted THREE final seasons...

As well the Bronny thing and the JJ Reddick thing...

It's my opinion that the front office is so focused upon giving LeBron a championship, because that's what is expected in LA, that they have lost sight how to do so by building a less than fully complimented team. As I have stated before, the Lakers are a championship team if one were to reassemble the players traded and let go over the past 5 seasons. The DNA of the thinking is wrong and they are building a centralized team instead.

Why would a player like Max Christie consider Free Agency? Because he knows he's gonna ride the bench again. How is Spencer Dinwiddie not a focal player etc.? They fall off the edge because they are not understood as critical to the centralized thinking.

Bronny is listed second on Google on the Lakers roster already! He's gonna be given PT over players whom have already done the work.

The best thing the FO has done is sign one of their young talents, Max Christie, to a deal. Jeanie for whatever reason doesn't want to hit the reset button and build the team the RIGHT WAY. Look at BOS, they invested in their young talent while putting pieces around them. The gamble paid off and they have a really good chance of repeating. People think DEN, OKC and all these teams have come out of nowhere. No, they made the gamble and developed/invested in their talent. And don't forget about the Grizzlies. The question is, was trading for Davis worth the gamble? Did laker nation get their money's worth?

The report is the Lakers offered Thompson 20 million a year for up to 4 years along with a sign and trade for D'lo. So for all the people saying our front office sucks, they went above and beyond to try and get him. Face it, no team wants to make the Lakers better. If this trade went down, a lot here would be saying how we got robbed. I'm glad it didn't happen, he's not that good anymore. I'm hoping for Derozan.

Precisely! They gave away the kingdom for one player, and the players lost became top players or all stars...

I agree with this as well.

DeRozan though benches Reaves and the Rookie unless Reaves is made the starting PG (assuming D'Lo is sent to Chicago)... As well Lonzo will be back next season so they don't need D'Lo...

If the Lakers trade with the Bulls, they need to go after Vucevic...

Does D-LO have an expiring contract? I'm not sure but I think that's the only way any team will make the trade for him.

Also, there's a reason GSW delegated Klay to coming off the bench. Use your eyes.

Don’t worry guys, they are giving Bronny a multi-year deal. We have become a **** joke and I’m outraged. Best we can do is offer Lebron’s kid, who should not be in the NBA, a multi-year deal? Someone needs to be fired immediately!!

They will probably fill out the roster with G-league superstars. Lol.

MAGICLAKEZ wrote:

I think I'm going to tryout for the team myself. Watching this live interview with JJ, Knecht and Bronny is a joke.....lmao!!!!!.....JJ making the statement that Bronny has earned this. Of all things you can't say that....smh.

Lol, you're all hating on a 19 year old. Why don't you have some positive vibes. He might be better than you all think. I don't care what you all say, I'm rooting for him. And I think Dalton is better than acquiring Klay, he's washed, Knecht is fresh. All we need to do now is get DeRozan, then we're Rollin.

Looks like DeRozan talks are falling apart as well. We can't get **** done!! It is unbelievable how this team has become the joke of the NBA.

trade lebron

sorry for the spam. not sure how that happened.

Rumor is that they are seeking to fill out JJs staff with ex NBA coaches. Who's idea is that?

They are gonna want to override JJ all season long and are gonna have to bite their lips while he's making rookie mistakes.

Why would anyone want to put themselves in that position and if JJ is so ready to do this, why the push for experienced support?

Next we'll learn that Bronny is starting opening night and Bryce has been secured in a new CBA contract type under the 'James Clause' where HS Juniors with parents whom are active players in the NBA and older than 40 can sign NBA intent contracts if Daddy co-signs.

DeRozan is 2 to 3 years too late anyways. We should've signed him over Westbrook. That bridge has sailed.

Resembles a mom and pop store.

GSW is about to land Buddy Hield. ....We a about to land who?

BREAKING: LeBron James has agreed on a 2-year, $104 million max deal to return to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Deal includes a player option and no trade.

They can’t land anyone, therefore they are going around dishing out new contracts to existing players. Lmao. At least that would keep them relevant by making some headlines. Otherwise this has been an epic failure this off season. The entire front office/ Rob, Rambo and co. Cheech & Chong and all allied (kitty party) members gotsta go.

Sell the team to an enterprising group like the Sam Kroenke led sports group. This present archaic style operation is not gonna cut it, in the current landscape.

2yr/ $104M…..pay cut?

Yes, they seem to be, as of late, attempting to sugar coat a massive pile of dog crap (this team and their inability to get anything done being the crap).

"Bronny signed to a multi-year guaranteed contract"

"Lebron signs 2-year no trade/player option max deal"

"Towel boy signs 90mil 6-month deal"

I had a question about Lebron's deal. I've read some conflicting articles. One mentions that he took a discount so that it would free up some money to use on a player to help this team. The others mention that this is a max deal and that we are basically ****. Does anyone know the logistics and whether or not this helps us?

Looks like they are probably going to run it back with the same squad along with Connect 4 and Baby Lebron. Calling Byron Scott….lol. We need to surround our new rookie tanker with HOF battle tested/ proven veterans.

Meanwhile,

Having briefly left the madhouse....

Giannis routine...

This is ridiculous...

If he's gonna give the franchise a break, why not honor his word?

Now the team is strapped and competing against LeBron as well as a thin free agent market, all that remains are trades. So what happened?

The front office did not provide a solution in three days, likely because of the LeBon effect, so he retracts his offer?

Is LeBron worth a max contract at this stage anyway? Sentiment aside, from an investment standpoint, he's a catastrophic injury waiting to happen.

Rumor has it that Bronny will spend most of the season in the G-League, so all of this madness for one or two moments where Bronny can toss a lob to his Daddy.

I suppose the ads and viewership from that event alone will pay Bronny's salary...

Cynicism aside, how is any of this good for the team rather than good for the James' family? In my opinion, that's what is inspiring the criticisms.

Bronny will probably prove to be a serviceable offensive player and a very good defender. I doubt he will ever start in the NBA so much ado about nothing... except a lob or two... Geeeez! Whatever... It's as anti-climatic as the final episode of Game of Thrones. It's so inauthentic and manufactured rather than allowing a Natural flow to bring the James story to a close... We already, more or less, know the ending, save the fire breathing dragons!

The Lakers cry about mediocre 3 point team shooting.

LeBron was recruiting Klay for his 3 point shooting.

The Lakers are letting go of yet another 3 point shooter in Taurean Prince.

What, he was not affordable?

Knecht is seen as his replacement?

There is no method to this madness.

The Front Office seems to make decisions based upon daily moods or straight up negligence...

Lebron and NEPOTISM is destroying this franchise. 4 year contract for a player that averaged 4 points a game in college. A player that hasn’t played a summer league game.

THIS FRANCHISE IS F*CKED for the next DECADE!

Dwayne Wade and Stephen A. Smith do not agree with you so you must be wrong.

The hiring of the two coaches is fine with me because they are experienced and if they want Redick to learn quick, this two were good head coaches.

Now as to the four year contract for Bronny, that is questionable. LeBron signing for two years is not bad, I was worried the Lakers were going to give him a four year 150 million dollar contract.

I have said it many times I just do not understand why the Lakers have so much trouble signing up good players.

I hate to see Prince go, but they say that this kid we signed up in the 17th round is fairly good player. So we will see!

They are determined to trade DAngelo, I hope they can get somebody good. DA was terrible on defense and sporadic on offense. He could get super hot at times, then he would disappear and just walked around doing nothing. But somebody mentioned that we might get Lanzo Ball back. Geez! I never liked him when he was with the Lakers and has been hurt all the time with the Bulls, so that is what we always end up with a cripple.

clown get a max deal....he didn't even take 20 mil paycut to help the lakers

He took 1 million discount to 'help' the lakers below first tax threshold...... It doesn't help sht with roster upgrade...

Since he signed for huge amount, lakers don't have any good money offer to any players. When klay was FA, lebron said he'll take 20 mil paycut so lakers can offer klay 20+ mil. But since klay didn't sign, lebron went back to his 50+ mil...

Get rid of of this old a** regular player and his family.

WE WANT OUR FRANCHISE BACK!

Jeanie,

You’re on the brink of losing Lakers nation!

The Lakers signed 6'-6" undrafted guard Blake Hinson out of Pittsburgh. He's a sleeper and I figure will be much more impactful say than Lewis and Shifino.

He shot 42% from three last season.

Again though, another guard...

There is no discussion regarding centers which is my primary concern about JJ. Guard Players tend to become Guard Coaches...

Hinson must be terrible on defense to not be drafted! He does seem a bit slow footed in these highlights and clearly does not pass the ball with less than 1 apg.

Nothing like the Laker way.

Buddy Hield also rejected the Lakers...

Wait a few months for the real reasons to be stated publicly.

A rookie coach with an elderly star means the focus will likely be in all the wrong places.

Hield likely assumed he would become a bench player, if he chose the Lakers, as well a team that is not perceived as a Championship contender including broken ownership and front office.

Is it fair to say that the Lakers will not return to winning until a few years after the team is sold?
