Lebron James said "DMarcus Cousins is the best Big Man in the game" and has expressed interest in playing with him. If Boogie is getting healthy and the prognosis is good, and Lebron wants him, the Lakers will probably go after him. Last season before he went down he was averaging 25ppg, 13rpg, 5apg, 22per, while dominating down low and occasionally playing his new role as a stretch 5, which is exactly what the Lakers would be looking for in the offense they want to run. Boogie hit 35% from the 3 last season, and a recent workout video shows he is working on that shot.

The best news here is that it is possible for the Lakers to Max out Lebron, offer DC the short term Max, keep all of their young guns, and sign Julius Randle as well. That sounds like a great plan to me. What do you think?

I would absolutely love this at this point. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Lakers aren’t getting LeBron or Boogie. LeBron is staying in the East and Cousins will go back to Pelicans on a short term deal. Our biggest signing this year will be Moe Wagner. If you’re worried don’t be. We get to be disappointed again in 364 days.

What is the status of Cousins? Is he even going to play at the start of the season? I'm not so sure about this.

He is targeting to return to basketball activities at the start of training camp. Don’t know when he would be ready for an NBA game.

Here is the latest workout video from 6 days ago. Shooting 3's on the court. He is on his way and the NBA season is still about 4 months away. The video below works, you just have to click on the link.

Ok, with the Lakers signing KCP, Lance, and JaVale, is seems like they don't anticipate Boogie being available until later in the season. And they need to take advantage of the players who are available now, on one year deals. They may entertain Boogie at a later date, but as for now this thread is dead, as no movement to sign Boogie is going to be happening any time soon.

At this point I’d feel better about using the money left on Randle, Lopez and a backup pg than a possibly not healthy Boogie.

Cousins is 100% in play for us still.

We currently have 6 million in cap space.

CAP SPACE:

    Stretch Deng: 17,000,000

    Trade Deng: 24,500,000

Also if for some reason we rescind our QO to Randle we could have this cap space:

Stretch Deng / Randle walks: 29,400,000

Trade Deng / Randle walks: 36,900,000

I guess it will depend on how much Cousins will cost. But we could make a max slot for him. By stretching Deng and letting Randle walk. Without needing any ones help.

Scary thing( for other teams) is they could still get KL with Cousins.

For sure both guys are still play for us, yes it will cost us players to get them, but the options are there.

could we get boogie and wait a year to sign khawi? with those 3 + ingram, hart, kuzma.... i like that team

I would rather they keep Randle and then trade for Kawhi. That still gives them an outside chance of signing one more marquee player next year.

At this point we can only get kwahi and boogie by trading for Kwahi this year and signing a boogie as a FA this summer

We did 3 signings today for one year contracts. All that money comes off the books next summer when Kahwi becomes a free agent. Somewhere over 20+ Milllion.

Want To rethink that prediction? lol

Or package them in a trade?

While we did sign KCP / Jvale / Lance. Only KCP is affecting our salary cap. Lance is MLE and Javale will be a min contract.

They could renounce JR and stretch Deng and be able to sign Boogie but I prefer to sign Lopez and Evans and then offer Julius a decent contract. That gives them two complete teams and plenty of assets to trade down the line. Everyone is talking about KL but don’t forget other guys might be available at the deadline(I still see you Jimmy Butler).

Roman,

I am dead set against trading for Leonard. They can get him for free next year.

I don't want to give up any of the kids for him. I wouldn't even trade only Ingram for him.

Lakers meet with Randles agent tonight. I read he's excited about playing with Lebron. This to me is so huge. That's how much I value Randle.

Come on, get this done.

Good idea. Tho I think I'd prefer Walker to Evens. In case we get to move Ball. And yes I know I am the only one here to think that lol

Randy, The only guy I feel who is untouchable now is Randle. I don’t even care they get rid of Ball. Randle and Lebron would have a synergistic effect on the floor. They compliment each other perfectly. You cannot ignore what he did last season and the work he put in the off season. His conditioning was top tier and his effort level was relentless. He is a bonafide workhorse. I was one of his fiercest critics but he won me over last season. I will bat for him now. The reason why I’m wary of waiting it out for Kawhi is because of the lessons learnt from the George episode. It’s not a given that the player would walk in free agency. Teams are willing to take a wager and are willing to settle for a foot in the door. They feel they could get a head start to sell their long term vision from close quarters. I also feel the player feels disgruntled and perhaps emotes a sense of betrayal, that the team did not execute a trade to accommodate his requests, to be with the team he explicitly desired to be with. Getting a player of Kawhi’s caliber to pair with Lebron and Randle is the perfect trifecta. Opportunities like these have to be seized. It’s not often you see the #1 and 2 player playing alongside each other. Can you imagine a lineup of Lebron/Randle/Kawhi/Ball/KCP? I mean good luck scoring on this team. I’m not so high on Kuzma like others out here. I feel the only person with upside on this team are Ingram and Ball. Kuzma and Hart are essentially finished products and what you see currently is what I suspect, is going to be exhibited going forward. We....

So since Randle joined the Pelicans, I don't think they have a need / spot for Cousins anymore. Should be interesting.

Do we have cap space to sign Boogie?

He should probably sit out the entre upcoming season IMO.

Roman,

I understand why fans would want to stack this team with vets to try win now with Lebron even at the expense of the future and young players. If we get Leonard this year then they may pose a threat to GS.

I also agree with you that Embid and Simmons are sure things, not like the laker kids.

As you know Roman its all a crap shoot. Say we get Leonard for Ingram and we pull off the dream and beat GS and win the title. It was worth it, right. Well maybe, unless Ingram becomes one of the best players in the league for ten years. Then maybe not.

Or we trade and Leonard gets hurt. Or Lebron does. All these variables and we just don't know how the dice will come up.

I agree that Leonard may change his mind next year as George did when he apparently felt slighted by the Lakers the last two years.

It's all a gamble and no easy decisions. You gotta make a decision either way then hope the hell you are right lol.

Unfortunately you and I will never see Lebron, Leonard and Randle do that trifecta now. I agree with you it would have been something.

DMC gone to GSW....Dammit!!!...lol.

You beat me to it MAGIC....lol.

Pathetic move wow

Why is the league ok with this now?

It’s ok we got McGee. Lmao!!!

I doubt he plays this year though. He would be getting paid $5.3m wearing Tom ford jackets. Lol

Forget it. Give them the ring. Now the Lakers better not trade or lose more of the kid's.

Cousins to the Warriors!!!!!!!

They literally got 5 allstars. That's crazy

Sorry Magic, sorry Lebron. That takes care of that lol. Now what?

Hahaha! That's a pathetic move, but us signing James is awesome?? You people are amazing!

Just do not understand. Lakers had $5.3M too .. crazy DMC did not come to Lakers. May be DMC wants an easy ring ...

Because Adam Silver doesn't have a guillotine like David Stern.

Nah, we good! We got McGee from them!!! So, pretty even moves if you ask me.

Maybe he wanted more money and lakers lowballed him. For the same salary (5.3) he would be stupid not to sign with GSW and not get a ring on the platter.

Damn Cali, I forgot. You're right. Let's go get them! Bring it!

Of course he does, just like any other player that's been in league awhile, mostly playing for bad teams. Don't like it, but don't blame him. Got Warriors in 4-4-4-4. Lol

I heard Lebron just called Golden State and asked if they were interested in him.

Meh, he tore his achilles. He's not going to play half the season anyway.

Really??

Makes it easier to swallow...I think. Lol.

It's not like they need him, he can kick back most of season and get a free ring. Lol

Angeluus,

No. I was just kidding around now that GS just pocketed another ring.

Cousins to Warriors. That settles that. That team really needed another piece............. 😕
