Lol, someone is definitely getting traded now!!!!
If they do a trade Clarkson is as good as gone. I'm guessing something like JC, Randle, and future picks for George. They won't give up anyone of value (BI, Dlo, #2 pick).
The good thing about this though is we have all the leverage which means we can insist on them taking the Deng or Mozgov contract
What in the world makes you think we will trade them Randle JC and a first rounder for a guy who said he will WALK TO US.. If anything we make them take Dengs contract and send them Russell or clarkson as a sweetener and end it there. No other team is going to try and trade for him because he said he wants to go to the Lakers we have ALL of the leverage.
Think we make a trade soon???
Because they won't accept a trade where they have to take Deng or Mozgov. They'd rather let him walk in free agency. You have to make it enticing enough for them. I'd rather wait, but if you want to get a trade done you have to make it reasonable for them.
For me personally I don't make the trade unless they take the Deng or Mozgov contract...which I'm sure is what magic will do as well
Here's the most I would be willing to give up:
Deng- 17.2 Mil
JC - 12.5 Mil
28th pick
For
PG - 19.3 Mil
Al Jefferson - 9.8 Mil
Kevin Seraphin - 1.8 Mil
Both Al has team option next year and Seraphin has expiring contract. Then we would have plenty room for free agents next year with that move clearing space
Deng- 17.2 Mil
JC - 12.5 Mil

Kevin Seraphin - 1.8 Mil

Don't think Indy would go for that trade. Going to take more than Clarkson and 28th, to get rid of Deng. Indy probably let's him walk or trades him to another team that thinks they can possible change his mind and resign him. Become nobody's going to give up equal value for him, but Indy can probably do better than taking back Deng's contract...imo
PG13 is a gangsta!!!!!!...Know need to reach out to PG13, LBJ....lol.
Maybe I am reading this report wrong. Why would the Lakers trade anything of value? PG13 said he will play out the season and then bounce. He prefers the Lakers in free agency. So why give Indy anything?
what teams have the most cap space right now?
They don't have the cap space to give him a max at 30m. He would have to take less, don't think he'll take that much less.
Nice parting gift from Jim and Mitch with those Deng and Mozgov contracts. Lol
You can get him for nothing. Why give up anything? Some of us out here have been beating the dead horse while reiterating this since last season. Let Boston trade for him(lose assets in the bargain) and then see PG show them the finger the following year. Lmao
I probably wouldn't make the trade regardless. Unless Ingram looks bad next year, then before the trade deadline I would, and it would still have to be a trade like you mentioned. Deng and a future first or something like that. Otherwise you just wait till free agency.
The only reason you do a deal is to get rid of one of the bad contracts so that we don't have to stretch their contracts. If we have to stretch their contracts it will end up being a little over 13 mil of dead space for 5 years. So would you rather have an extra 13 Mil to be able to spend on a team? Whether we get rid of those contracts in this trade or another we're going to have to give them something to shed those contracts...thanks to Jim and Mitch giving them those horrible contracts. This way you get a deal done getting rid of one of the contracts and at least get something in return
Nice parting gift from Jim and Mitch with those Deng and Mozgov contracts. Lol
If they renounce Black, Young, Brewer cap holds for next offseason that equals $33m off the books. They would be well below the cap number for a max deal to PG.
Deng- 17.2 Mil

Still too much. I wouldn't trade Clarkson AND a 1st for someone that we can get as a free agent. Trading for him now would be stupid. Stay patient, damn. No reason to give anything up for him unless it really benefits us. No reason to trade for him at all just yet. What if Ingram comes out balling next year? Then there is no point to even going after George!
I'm guessing you mean JC as more valuable than DLo. I'm sure the entire league disagrees. Tbh, I absolutely love JC, but he's not an All-star caliber player. Hell he's easier to love than D'Angelo is. DLo is better now and will be better in the future. Say what you will about his immaturity and his laziness on the court when things aren't going his way, I'd likely agree with you, but he is still more valuable than JC or Randle because he is got the skillset and potential to be great, and he's already a knockdown shooter with a knack for scoring the ball. His passing is a bonus.
Even Byron said DLo is better with decision making than JC is...
Because Magic, they don't have the cap space to give him max deal. If they don't do trade with Indy, they will have to do trade with someone.
Nice parting gift from Jim and Mitch with those Deng and Mozgov contracts. Lol
There's other ways to clear up cap space. Can make smaller trades to other teams to still sign George as a free agent. But would you really want to give him $30M a year? No chance of getting any other free agents moving forward after that.
Brewer isn't a free agent I don't believe. Young can opt out and the team can opt out of Black's contract. But agree with your point that they can clear space.
We honestly won't need George if everything falls into place. I'm not as high on signing PG as I was a year ago. That is if ingram shows growth, DLo continues to grow, Ball/Jackson shows they belong in the lineup, etc. We're lowkey stacked. We don't have all the big names like Philly or Minnesota but we have a "potentially" scary team looking at the potential lineup we could be putting forth.
Ball - Russell - Ingram - Randle - Zubac
With Ball's passing and vision it'll open up our offense amazingly. I'd prefer Randle to be off the bench, with Ball, feel like Nance would be better in this lineup as well.
Russell - Jackson - Ingram - Randle -Zubac
All that length and hustle outside of Russell has got to look scary for opposing teams.
Even Byron said DLo is better with decision making than JC is...
Um, no, I'm not referring to Clarkson. Randle is the one that is more valuable than Russell. Magic seems to speak higher of Randle than Russell too. Thinks if he can work on his right hand he will be a star. When talking about Russell it sounds more negative, like work ethic and leadership (which is really code for maturity).
You have to add in 1st rd pick 5m and 28th if they keep it. And Young would have to opt out, like JJ said, Brewer is not a FA.

Exactly what I'm saying. Agreed. And that's still with Clarkson & Nance on the bench.

It's the Lakers, they want stars!!! Lol
But agree!!!
I also don't think Randle is more valuable either. But I do stand corrected.
Both of those guys definitely has the character and work ethic over DLo as shown so far. But Randle doesn't seem to have a very high ceiling. Lamar Odom (the guy he's been compared to) never played with his head down like Randle. Randle is more of a bull, he forces the issue too often and when he gets the ball the offense stops (hes not the only offender on our team, but to me the most noticeable). Nevertheless I suspect he has less value than Russell either way.

Fully agree. And what exactly has PG accomplished in the weaker eastern conference all these years? Lol. We (for that matter nobody) ain't touching GSW for the next 3-4 years anyways. We should use that time to develop our kids organically so that they are primed to compete when the time is right.

I'm not sure if you're talking about trade value or value to our team. I meant who would be more valuable to our team. And to me Randle will definitely bring more value at his position than Russell will. I agree with you that Russell will be better than Clarkson, but I disagree by how much. I think Russell will become a good player, but probably never great. While Randle may not ever become "great" he is way more versatile than Russell, will likely become a better defender, which I don't think Russell will, and if he can get back to rebounding the way he was before, he could be a more athletic version of Draymond green, minus the defense. It would take less for Randle to become great than Russell. All Russell really does is shoot well and occasionally make a good pass. If Randle can defend better and consistently hit the midrange, he'd be somewhat dominant. If he can go right occasionally, even better. He can already get you triple doubles 2 years into the league. Don't sleep on that. He's also way more athletic.
LOL, but I was going by what Magic has said since taking other. Team needs a leader, Lakers need a star. Jeannie wants a Lakers in all-star game. Don't think Lakers will give up the farm to get him.
Also I'll be waiting to see if Lakers make another trade with different team ,to free up cap space.

I would think that would be the more likely situation. I still don't trust Magic though.
Notice how it says no plans to trade with Indy. Lol

I always said this is the best scenario for Cleveland since LBJ might bolt out next year as well. Get pg as a 1 yr rental and try to eke out one more chip. Chances are PG stays if they win and he would walk next season (along with LBJ) anyways if they don't.
On a personal note I would prefer the celts to give up their assets for a one year rental
But here's the thing you guys are forgetting. If he goes to a winning situation there is a high chance of him wanting to stick around and resign...they would have his bird rights and would be able to offer more years and more money than the lakers could offer in free agency. I've seen it time and time again where reports come out saying a player is going to come to the lakers or any team when they hit free agency's and so their traded and then they end up resigning next the place they got traded to despite what was reported about going to a different team prior to being traded. Things can change fast and if it only costs clarkson and a 28th pick that we have no idea if it's going to Ben good and are able to get rid of Deng in the process then I say that's an easy decision for me. Having Jackson, Ingram and George all on the same team together would be sick defensively
They just talked about that on sports center, Cavs think if they can trade for him ,they can get him to stay. Could go into trade like it's not a 1 year rental. Love and Irving are not off the table!!!!
What would are line up be?
Pg---Russell
SG---Jackson
Sf----Ingram or george
PF---George or randle
C---Zubac
or
Pg---Ball
Sg---Russell
Sf--ingram or George
PF----George or randle
C---Zubac
At small forward or power forward is what i'm wondering? and would we still consider jackson with george possibly coming?
I get what you're saying with Randle, and he probably does bring more to the team "if" he does all those things you mentioned, yet he has some bad habits/lack of skill that won't be disappearing very easily. Historically we've seen players work on their weaknesses, but they never really change their style of play drastically overnight. For Russell, we've seen him take over games, score like a star, toss beautiful dimes, hit clutch shots, he is undoubtedly the best player we've had besides Lou the past couple of years. And he did all this while being "immature", a "project", at 19 and 20 years old, playing in a position he wasn't naturally born to play, in the NBA. If you ask me, I think it's more likely a player grows out of immaturity than to rid himself of habits that Randle has displayed.
Many stars "shoots well and occasionally makes a good pass". I think the game is a lot more than about how versatile a player is. Like I said I do understand that you refer to his potential in being our "Draymond", but maybe I'm just a bit pessimistic in his outlook but Randle doesn't seem much of a Draymond to me, but I hope he proves me wrong (while he is a Laker).
Don't believe all this George hype necessarily, but I hope this is true.

Don't know if it will come into play, but Dlo, Randle and PG13 do have the same agent, so I'm sure there has been some wink wink convo's behind closed doors. Maybe Dlo and Randle don't get moved at all, maybe PG13 takes less than max. I'm sure their agent would want all 3 in LA.
