Sources: Pacers assessing trade market for Paul George Adrian Wojnarowski The Vertical Yahoo SportsFeb 22, 2017, 10:07 AM The Indiana Pacers are gauging the trade market on All-Star forward Paul George, league sources told The Vertical. The Pacers are working the trade deadline on parallel fronts: Pursuing deals that will bring talent into Indiana to sell George on signing a long-term extension " and soliciting deal offers on George that would signal a rebuild around center Myles Turner, league sources told The Vertical. Ultimately, the Pacers will have to evaluate the two paths and make a decision before Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET deadline. There’s no urgency....

Paul George wants to stay, if Pacers can win Sam Amick , USA TODAY Sports 2:57 p.m. ET Feb. 22, 2017 Paul George wants to stay in Indiana. But like so many things this time of year, when the phones are ringing off the hook in NBA offices as the trade deadline nears, the situation between the four-time All-Star and his Indiana Pacers is racked with nuance. So when George met with team owner Herb Simon in recent days and told him that the Hoosier state was still the place for him, how he would love nothing more than to eventually go down....

Unfortunately I'm hearing that Boston are the front runners with the nets pick(which goes to Boston). They can leverage that for PG.

Get it done Magic. Mesmerize your old pal Bird into giving up PG.

Sorry to break it to you but that's not Adrian's real twitter account

If the Celtics get PG, I'll be P.O.

let them get Butler or Melo or who ever else...just not PG. lol

When I first read it had me fooled too lol but then I checked everywhere else and couldn't find it Anywhere and then realized it wasn't his real one lol...got really excited for a minute tho

I still think PG lands in LA somehow, someway. Even if its a 3 team trade that Includes Boston. Would that even be possible? lol.

(runs over to trade machine to see what he can come up with...hahaha)

Well this trade works. LOL

OKC - N. Young, M. Ellis, Rockets 1st round pick 2017 (27th), Bulls 2nd round pick 2018

IND - Randle, Clarkson, Deng, OKC 1st round pick 2017 (19th), Bulls 2nd round pick 2019

LAL - PG, G. Robinson III, Morrow, Collison (Morrow and Collison get waved or traded for future 2nd round pick for their expiring contracts)

Okc will be packed with ISO players...lol. Deng could be the roadblock in this scenario.

I think just a trade between the Lakers and Pacers could work just fine IND: Clarkson, Randle, Hou 1st, 2nd (from CHI) LAL: Paul George I doubt they would do that deal i'm sure they would pull the trigger if DLO or....

Look at all these rumors, surrounding me everyday. Just need some time, some time to get away....lol....Remember that song...lol.

lol it has been pretty hectic, especially for us, i'm not expecting much tomorrow but i wouldn't be surprised if we saw multiple players (maybe even some all stars) moved.

I doubt they would do that deal i'm sure they would pull the trigger if DLO or BI were involved. Out of the two i'd prefer to keep Ingram, if they moved DLO it would look something like this

IND: Russell, Randle, Calderon, Hou 1st, 2nd (from CHI)

LAL: George

I doubt they do this though considering that we could sign him next summer when both him and Cousins are UFAs.

One thing to keep in mind is next year's All Star game. With the all star game coming back to LA next year, Magic may feel the need to trade for a player to represent us for the weekend festivities, i'm probably wrong about this but it's something to keep in mind.

Pacers won't trade PG without Russell or Ingram included. I think if they agree to your 2nd proposal with either Russell or Ingram included - Lakers should do it if PG gives Magic his word to resign. Convert top 3 pick into Ball or Fultz, PG13, Russel or Ingram, Nance, and Zu coming along - we got something! If Lakers also buy out $34M/year partying gift from Dumbo and Glitch - they'll have $$ room for Cousins to join the party next year as well, but that's just getting ahead of yourself Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_01

I don't see anything happening before the deadline for the Lakers. So much depends on whether or not they keep that top 3 pick, which they won't find out until May. Draft day will be the soonest anything gets seriously discussed.

Does anyone know if there is anything else we can do to get rid of the deng and mozgov contracts? Other than trading them to someone or stretch provision? Like is there such a thing as buying out their contracts or anything like that?

I'm sure they are exploring all avenues.

Last resort is to hire some Goons/mafiosos from downtown and send them over to camp outside their houses everyday and harass them. They could pelt them with stones/eggs/tomatoes/tacos...whatever it takes, but you need to somehow force them to voluntarily flee from LA cause ain't nobody walking out on $140m while warming the bench.

Sadly, the Gruesome Twosome contracts are WORSE than the Kobe contract everyone was dissing. At least Kobe put fannies in the seats and every once in a while gave us his "how'd he do that?" shot. Or even sixty points! Plus, Kobe was for only two years.

Can the Lakers go to court (the real one, not the basketball one) and have the contracts invalidated cos Jim Buss was not of sound mind. Kind of dementia. Or temporary insanity.

Who knows? It just might work!

Spike their drinks...get them drunk(Borrow Mozgov's Stolichnaya) and don't sub them for the entire 48 mins. The ensuing anarchy on the bb court would be enough to convict them for DUI, vandalism and attempted voluntary manslaughter.

Paul George May Be Too Expensive To Obtain

By Basketball Insiders on February 23, 2017

A league source (whose team inquired about George) said yesterday that George would be massively expensive to obtain in trade, suggesting his team did not have nearly the assets to pursue a George trade. The same source said that anything involving him would require almost everything a team had to offer based on the stance the Pacers had this week.

There have been reports that both the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers view the price tag on George as too high, especially considering George could be a free agent in 16 months.

Sign him in FA, if he wants to be a Laker.

I received an alert from ESPN that PG won't commit to any other teams outside of IND and LAL. In my opinon this may lead to him possibly coming here but at what price? It wouldn't surprise me if it did happen and we gave up the farm but then again maybe I'm just used to Jimbaco and Mitch running things.

If he wants to come home, then he will come home. Lets focus on moving young and calderon right now. And trying to get rid of at least 1 of the awful contracts next year. I still think deng for rondo should be done. The Bulls front office hates rondo so much right now, lets take advantage of it. Throw in Thomas Robinson if you have to. We need to focus on drafting lonzo ball and gearing up for 2018 free agency, for paul george and a center.

FA is the way to go as previous posters have stated. Hell you can go after him and DMC in FA.

If Boston is including the most likely #1 pick, then Lakers don't have a chance to trade for PG, at least not without giving away the entire team which I sure hope they don't.

I feel the same way. But I'm sure Ainge and Bird will hook each other up like how Mchale did in 07-08.

That's true, if he does get traded there i still don't think they can beat the Cavs, they could maybe force a game 7 but i still don't see them winning.

I don't get what's the rush with them, they are currently 2nd in the east and only four games behind the Cavs in the loss column, they have a guaranteed top 3 pick coming their way in one of the deepest draft classes in years. Why trade an asset like that for an above average team or worse, a rental, they should just roll with what they have and keep the pick.

steven18 wrote:

Under normal circumstances I'd be heart broken. But if the dirty lepercauns want to give up assets on a possible rental then they can have him.

if/when he decides to come our way, wonder how much not being able to be "PG-13" anymore factors in his decision? lol

I kinda feel bad for Pacers fans, it's been reported that PG met with the team owner to tell him that if they got him some help he would consider staying. And what do the Pacers do?........nothing, i don't blame him for wanting to leave, IND will not be able to compete with teams like CLE, TOR, WAS, or BOS for the next couple of years. they made a mistake not trading him, now his value goes down even more....

The best thing that came from this deadline was him staying put, this now gives us the advantage to sign him in 2018. It helps having Magic and B Shaw (two people he admires and is close with) as well, i hope that we're able to get rid of either Mozgov or Deng to free up some cap space and get him some help (maybe Cousins?).

For anybody who wants PG13 in a Lakers uniform, this was the best move for us to get him. However the only bad part, if he makes the all NBA 3rd team or higher, he is in line for the new DPE mega deal with Pacers. And if that happens and he tells Pacers I'm not signing and they trade him, we loses 40mil, just like Cousins did. That kind of money can talk.

Another good point, with the way the Pacers have been playing (barely hanging on to the 6th spot and having lost 6 in a row) i doubt he makes it i mean even if they did start to play good i don't see him making it over other players. Off the top of my head the all NBA teams should look like this:

1st Team

Westbrook

Harden

Durant

Lebron

Cousins

2nd Team

Curry

Thomas

Leonard

Davis

Gasol

3rd team

Wall

Derozen

Hayward

Giannas

Jordan

Notable Forwards : Butler, Draymond, Love, Lamarcus, Millsap, and Griffin

I seriously doubt he makes it over these guys

That's what I love about the NBA -- these players REALLY want to win. In baseball, with rare excptions, "Pay me a dollar more I'll sign with you even if your team stinks."

This is something Dumb and Dumber never understood -- that the appeal of the Lakers wasn't Hollywooood anymore (the Internet killed that concept), but their winning tradition. But D&D ruined that pitch. And their last masterstroke -- siging two aging bums for 130 million -- is going to be hard to overcome.

In this case, we need a little MAGIC!!!!
