Question on CBA Rules for Structure of Contracts

Lakers are projected to have ~22mil in cap space. That Is 1 max player or possibly 2 good players.

However, I was wondering if the Lakers could offer a contract to Aldridge that would look something like this:

Years - salary

1 - 16.5

2 - 20.5

3 - 22

4 - 22

Total - 81mil.

If so, then this would allow the Lakers to have ~5.5 mil in cap space. If Swaggy P was traded, then that would be ~ 11 mil (Youngs salary plus the 5.5 in cap space.

Could we then offer Butler an offer sheet like this:

Year - Salary

1- 10

2-17

3 - 19

I only suggest 3 years as reports were that he would like to sign a 3 year contract (minimum contract he could sign after Bulls extend QO). This would allow him to cash in when the Cap increases significantly.

Butler/ A. Brown

Randle/ Davis/ Kelly

The only problem with that is (I'm from portland) LaMarcus doesn't want to play center, and he won't sign here if that's the position he'd be playing. 2nd, the bulls will match butler, 17 and 19 million is better then 30 million plus they won't have to risk losing him for 3 years. Best bet is to trade Randle, Clarkson and future picks even nick young too if we need to for cousins. Aldridge would be more likely to sign this way, because he would have an all star front court mate, and he gets to play pf. Then the following year go for Durant and a sg. cousins would be 15 million next year and Aldridge would be 19 million next year.

Yes you could structure the contracts like that, but you won't get either player to sign them.

Enough with Cousins already! Unless you don't mind giving up Russell and Randle at the very least, the Lakers aren't getting him.
