The Official Kobe Bryant vs Andrew Bynum Thread

Should it be Bynum's team? Should it be Kobe's team? Who's the better player between Kobe and Bynum? Who's the more important player, or the more valuable player? Who should be the top scoring option? We've seen these threads pop up constantly for the last few years; especially this season. The debates have become stale, and many of the comments on both the Kobe side and the Drew side have become redundant and predictable at this point.

Furthermore, I've noticed a lot of complaints from long time members who are tired of seeing all the Kobe VS Bynum comments spread about the LTB. So, I figured I could make this thread. I want to encourage the mods to take any threads that evolve into Kobe VS Drew type debates and merge them with this thread.

Perhaps if we consolidate most of the Kobe VS Drew comments/debates/arguments to this one thread, the majority of site members who don't like those discussions won't have to see them anywhere but here.

Well onion clearly didn't read your post as I did. I like this thread. As long as we don't see debates anywhere else on the site as you suggested, it's good. It's always going to be Kobe's team though, until he says so himself or when he retires.

By the way, I'm a Laker fan, been a Laker fan since 1980, I dont care who our franchise player is, as long as we win titles. But, as a true Laker fan, I know who are franchise player is, and who our role players are.

Wow, I'm a little bit surprised at all the negative responses to this thread. I would have hoped that more LTB members would appreciate the opportunity to round up the majority of the Kobe VS Drew type posts and keep them mostly exclusive to this single thread, rather than spreading them about the LTB at random.

Well there shouldnt be a thread like this, especially during the playoffs. It's not about Kobe vs. Drew. Its about the Lakers vs. Nuggets, and then Lakers vs. Thunder thread.

I get the idea of cleaning up the forum of all these topics that become into Kobe vs Drew, but these comments/ topics shouldn't exist on this forum like JoelH said on top "It's Lakers vs Nuggets not Lakers vs Lakers." Heck Kobe and Bynum get a long why can't the fans?

Asking people to stop debating Bynum v. Kobe is as futile as one camp trying to win over the other. At least this way other threads don't get polluted.

Now i'd like to see some mods merging the other Kobe VS Drew type threads here. I believe the "Bynum is the best player in the NBA" thread has taken a turn for Kobe VS Drew, so that thread should maybe be merged into this one.

Also, just because you're a Lakers fan doesn't mean you need to be a fan of every player. If so, then everyone who called for the team to drop Kwame Brown & Luke Walton wouldn't have been 'real' Lakers fans.

^^ Yup. I no longer pay attention to the "real laker fan" talk from certain members. If you watch most or all Laker games, know about the players, cheer for the team to win, etc... then you're a real Laker fan. These things are a given and it doesn't matter if you support certain players more than other players on the team. We have a few guys on these forums who constantly boast about being real laker fans, and constantly seek to condemn others for not being real Laker fans. To me, those guys appear to be the ones with the most insecurities concerning their Laker fanhood. Perhaps there's some inherent insecurity that comes with extreme bias. Who knows?

Good idea. I'm all for it. Gameday threads + This one would make life a hell of a lot more easier for others who are interested in other stuff but a lot harder for the mods to manage ( who cares lol? )

Why not? These comments clog up the regular game day threads. Keep them in one place. And other Laker Fans have their opinions on Kobe vs. Drew so to them it CAN be about Kobe vs Drew. It's pretty hard for two players to bring equal game to win the championship. There will always be a hero who stands out from the other. We are talking about the future of LA. And no, this is not a personal attack on you.

I love this idea. From now on every "It's Kobe's team" or "It's Bynum's team" thread should definitely go in here.

Per the rules, you can't troll against a member or the team- but no rule against trolling players. However there is an anti-spam and duplicate post rule so if a player-troll keeps posting the same sh*t over and over again, he could be banned for those rule violations.
