How do draft picks work? Also, when do we get to choose the players from the draft?

its like the nba.....there will be a prospect list/draft review and you will be able to look at players like mayo and rose and beasly and thier ratings.......at the end of the year the standings determine the lottery, a lottery takes place and then the draft starts.

Its exactly like the nba(yet has nothing to do with the recent season besides the rosters), just the game does all the work.

when is all this gunna happen?

once teams are full, there are a certain amount of sims that lead to the end of the league...then draft...then free agency....

it takes about a month in real time to cover a whole year

3. Is there a way of viewing our teams with regards to our league?

4. Is there a way of knowing (without collating) the other teams' roster?

How do we like score points and what not, like how does the simulation actually work?

How are picks determined? Is it like the NBA, where Chicago has the #1 overall pick, or is it differently?

1. go to the main index at bdsl-retro.com and you can find your teams info there....your depth chart will be posted and updated by you every sim(there will be more of an explination about this later).

2. Once we fill all teams, there will be a short free agency where you can offer league MLE and LLE , if you dont know what that is google it.

4.at the end of the year there will be a lottery with the 13 worst teams and then the draft will take place......

Yes there are 82 games.....standings, league leaders, free agent lists, draft lists, hall of fame, training camps, injrurys .... the whole nine yards.....

Every sim teams will enter depth charts that will determine players playing time and at what position. Then a certain amount of games are simmed with real scores ex. Raptors 100 Knicks 98 then it will go even futher and have a box score of exact steals,blocks,pts...everythings...its very indepth.....and accurate the better team will most likly win.

Are we starting the 07 season or the 08 one? Because the draft will matter to the trades we make. For instance, I would be open to trading Elton Brand for the #1 or #2 pick (if it were the 08 season). Then again, if the SIM we have starts at the start of the 07-08 season then we should just forget who made the worst performance and even that the Bulls won the lottery.

How does injuries reflect in the simulation? For instance, Gilbert Arenas was a wreck over the season. But will he be injured or active, contributing or thrashing in the league?

We start 07/08 but the Bulls don't have the 1st pick. We do all that later this off-season. And this isn't fantasy. If a player is injured he's not injured in this league.

Its a game guys not real life.

think of it as the start of the 07-08 season......your 1st pick barly matters right now because you have no idea where you will end up in the standing....

like ive said go to the main index and look around instead of asking questions you can find everything there. salaries, ratings,league leaders, once the season starts your schedual will be there along with box scores also.....

Hey there coops, I have a question:

Will this league run beyond this year? because there are some players of mine that are only good when cutting salary.

If so, how long does 1 year run? Sorry for the pesky questions. I'm like Sasha...

it can run as many years as we want it to.....basically until ppl start to loose interest.

How much does the potential rating really effect things? Like two players equal attributes, age, size, but one has 'A' potential, the other 'C'. In 3 'years' how much better will the A player be than the C player? Quite a bit or barely noticeable?

Also, we don't have to stick to the set positions do we? Say for example, I could choose to start T-Mac at SF even if he's listed as SG in the sim?

I assume we'll be able to manage all that with the depth charts, but want to make sure...

Its scouted potential so honestly potential is a guessing game..it could say A but really be a C or say C but really be an A.....do your scouting and see how much the player has to grow............but they are close to real life.....so for example if your trading away a player like Gerald Green or Greg Oden....you should know they have high potentials and will become better.....

do players retire?

Yeah that's a good question. Is it like automatic and there's no way to reverse it, or can you 'talk them into playing for another year' kind of thing?

where could i post player position changes?

I was wondering when the teams are going to be updated? I don't mind when, but I was just wondering so then I could put in my depth chart.

ive noticed that there arent any 2008 draft picks on the team roster page..

since we've made some trades including picks.. which we included 2008 draft picks..

since there is no 2008 draft.. shouldnt it be moved to another year08 to 09 and 09 to 10?

I think that's automatically already done. But it doesn't really make sense though. Since if we are starting with the 07/08 season. That would be the 07 draft just took place and it will be the 2008 draft coming up after our first season, not the 09 draft like it shows on the roster pages.

the draft picks are messed up....the 09 picks are really 08 picks.........just think of them as this years picks.....

I have mabye 15 guys done on the draft file ill upload it sometime today if i get the 1st round done.

I know it's only been 1 sim and we're early in the season, but I can't help but look ahead. So how does player re-signing work?

any way you can change the years of the draft picks so they say the correct year?

or do we just always have to refer to our picks as a year behind?

Does their current team get first crack at re-signing them?

How much does greed factor into it? If they have a high greed, will they always just take the higher offer?

If they have a high loyalty, does that mean they will take a lower contract to stay with their current team, or just means they will be more likely to resign, regardless of the offer?

Then the play-for-winner rating makes it so a player with a high rating won't resign if it's to the worst team in the league, right?

Sorry about all the questions, just wondering since I have a few young guys that resigning them is a top priority.
