This is going 7 games. Kobe will not let us lose game 5 and then the Lakers will lose a tight one in Denver only to come back and close them out at Staples in Game 7. More $$$$ for Stern and the Fat cats!

Wishful thinking. Do you think that Kobe let us lose game 4. He did his best to make sure we won, like he has done throughout this series, but the team didn't show up.
The Lakers of this season seem to play better when their back is against the wall in case you haven't noticed. They got the split in Denver and they are content with that. The Lakers actually play better at home so I still think they will prevail. Yesterday's game was a MUST win for Denver so look for the Lakers to play better in game 5.
Funny thing is, they did not play as bad as either of those Rockets games.
To me there was 3 keys.
They missed a lot of good shots in the first half. Sometimes that happens. But they were still in the game.
When they kept missing, they kept shooting jump shots instead of taking it to the hole and getting to the free throw line. they played very intimidated in the paint last night.
The biggest key was giving up so many offensive rebounds. The effort there was poor, like everyone forgot that boxing out was part of their job.
Forget key 1 and 2. If the Lakers rebounded, they come home up 3-1.
Simple as that.
You seem to forget that the Rockets were missing three key players. Though we have not played as terribly as in the rockets series, it is also a fact that we have not played nearly as well.
Two lucky victories.
Seems like when Kobe scores 40, we win the game...

Yes, but that's all water under the bridge. The fact is that our bench has not been stepping up and we can go on and on about the excuses (refs, coaching changes, Gasol and Kobe tired, etc.) but when the rubber hits the road and the game is a do or die game, the Lakers have yet to let us down. I'm still convinced we win it all, but this will be the ugliest road to the championship for any of the Laker teams I've seen in my lifetime. That's for sure.
I've read all the press and all the blogs here in spain and i have the feeling all the world thinks we are going to lose....
¡Please give me some hope!
¡Please give me some hope!
I've been watching basketball all my life and I've never felt so dismal about a teams chances before. the 3 peat team never gave me so many headaches. Even last seasons team didnt make my head hurt like this one does.

I couldn't agree more, spankees.
This is the ugliest road the title for any Laker team and this is the most frustrating, most difficult to watch "Championship Calibur" Lakers team in franchise history. Their lack of consistency in intensity, energy, hustle, and effort in the playoffs is downright embarrassing.
Half the time the Laker defense is so disgustingly bad that I can barely stand to watch them play. With so many guys on team playing way below their normal standards, and the arrogance and apathy I see on so many of their smug faces, this Lakers team often makes it extremely difficult for us fans to believe in them. It almost seems like they feel they are the champions already, when in fact they haven't won sh*t.
To be perfectly honest, I'm more proud of the Kobe lead teams that got bounced the first round of the playoffs by Phoenix a few years back. Those teams played hard but lost because they had inferior overall talent. What excuses does this current Lakers team have? If they fail to win a championship, they have no excuses; they will be embarrassing failures and losers. Period.
Now go out there and win, d@mn Lakers!!
Sorry for hating on Lamar again... but remember when Lamar was producing before the Finals last season? Making tough shots and doing cowboy dances while taunting the Spur fans... We need that Lamar that to show up.
^^ Lol at that guy.
I just think its a good time for a thread like this.
Got a love hate thing for Lamar. Sometimes I love the guy, most of the time I hate the guy. I am really hating the guy right now. And I guess all that time in the weight room did Pau no good. rofl.
blame it on ron artest.. cost us yet another game.... mental midget. again...
As bad as the refs where, we still could have won this game and Artest and Gasol could not hit their free throw shots.
The refs were not bad. How were they bad?
That 24 second violation they missed and Kobe getting fouled when he rebound a minute later.
The ball hit the rim. I watched it at least 6 times. And on one of the angles, I saw it hit the rim. Because I saw it slightly change direction, then hit the backboard.
I've seen this before in the eighties, it's nothing new, but when the game gets physical, they only let one team get away with the fouls. I saw a few bad calls against the C's, but the pace of the contact went to the Celtics. This is controlled by the refs. I remember in the eighties when the Lakers tried to get physical Heinsohn would complain while color commentating, "The Lakers are not going to get the fouls because they are not known as a physical team."
So, he just admitted that the refs call the game different depended upon your style. Now do you think that's fair?
It did not hit the rim and the ball never changed directions.
The refs were bad in game one against the C's too so let hope that we can get some home cooking in games 6 and 7. (Well, let's also hope our team shows up).
Well if that is what you think, fine. But I saw it on one of the angles. The ball was going straight, then suddenly veered off to the left, before hitting the bottom part of the backboard. It was just a close play, but I saw it hit the rim.
let's not blame the refs on this you guys. it was us. our crappy defense.
..
It was a combination of things, but I must agree that "our crappy defense" in the 3rd quarter was the culprit of our loss tonight. That along with everyone just standing around waiting for KB24 to score and do everything. Sort of gave me freakish flashbacks of Smush, Radmanovic, and Kwame, waiting and standing around for Kobe to put up 50+ as the team suffers. You can blame the refs, Pau being Gau-Soft like 2008, bench being a non-factor again, and Lamar being Lamar.
Ultimately, by Tuesday night we need to get our $hit together and not have the Celtics punk us on another championship. Heads up, chins high Laker brothers... if Doc Rivers thinks he's getting a Gatorade bath on our homecourt, he has another thing coming. Our regular season success is based on one thing. Home court. Tuesday and Thursday night we'll see what this team is made of. No excuses, just execute. Our team needs our support more than ever.

This team has defense-a-phobia. That is all.
when are we gonna show up dont break my heart lakers
If you think about it, we played as bad as we can and the Celtics played about as good as they could yet they still only won by six points -- points lost by that horrid breakaway by Ron "Maybe We Shoulda Kept Ariza" Artest. And two free throws by LOser.
A three point play by most Lakers and two free throws andf BOOM -- tie game. Kobe time.
I think we will win game six BUT -- win or lose, it is time to get rid of LOser.
What pisses me more then any thing in this series is that I see the Celtics have not been that great, it is just that the Lakers are not playing to their full potential. It seems like they are in cruise control. We need to see in the next two games the best showing from the Lakers for the season.
I dissagree the celtics are at their best and that is defense and thats why it seems like the lakers are not playing at their potential, give both teams credit but we will win the title thats gauransheed.
Oh this is where we vent at ok well I'm pissed damn it! the lakers are playing like punkassgirls. Now I feel better thanks

<<====== MAN HOW GREAT IS STU LANTZ! THE ORIGINAL 23! LOOK AT THAT HAIR! He's my hero
Please Mitch find Kobe an offensive player who can compliment his game....I'm not asking for a superstar, but please just someone who teams are forced to guard so Kobe doesnt get double teamed all the time or someone who can carry the load when kobe sits for 5 mins. Lakers look like fish out of water on offense when kobe is sitting. Please Mitch Lakers need a second score, Pau is great but big men are not really scores and LO is inconsistant, Ron is up and down same with fish. I love the Lakers, but lets add a lil pow to the offense.
I told everybody we could of signed McGrady for the vet-min..So it basically would of been a win-win situation. We get a guy who can still contribute for pocket change. But instead the Pistons sign him. McGrady would of been great to fill out the 15 man roster. Our entire bench would be deadly. No body would JUST be a bench warmer, they could all contribute a lot. McGrady can still go off occasionally and that would help a lot with resting Kobe.
Lakers shouldn't have a horrible time considering they have fewer back to back road situations, as opposed to the Heat, no relaxing for the weary for them, and opening season is against the Celtics, that's a premiere matchup right there. They have basically what we had last season. I feel really good about us and what the new bench has to offer seeing as they've never tasted champagne flowing down their cheeks and their eyes catching some. One word this season: Phil ('s last stand, 90%+ chance of retiring he would want to retire a winner and hand the torch to one Brian Shaw, and lastly great bench support).
What's there to vent - we just beat the Celtics in a game seven.
The Lakers are back to back Champs and looking for more.
We are tremendously better then last year as a team and of course I'm specifically referring to the bench - it is like night and day. Barnes, Blake, Ratliff, Brown, Sasha, Ebanks and Caracter - MUCH greater then Farmar, Powell, DJ, Luke, Brown, Sasha and Morrison. Absolute night and day.
What can I say - my only dream - not a vent - is to get one more vet min big on our team - Chris Wilcox, Nazr Mohammed or Francisco Elson. Surely Drew will be down with an injury or two again and I want another tough vet in the wings to help when Pau has to play center.
I can just envision when Drew gets his yearly injury putting in guys like Wilcox and Ratcliff - or Caracter. There would be some shot blocking and bodies flying around the gym.
I second that!
Bah! The Lakers already added some "Pau" to the offense, LOL. 3 NBA Finals appearances and 2 championships later, here we are. LOL. The team is fine, the roster looks great, and the Lakers are set to go for the 3-peat. Stop worrying so much. There's literally NOTHING to worry about right now. We're the champs!

I agreed with you. This guy is a whimp! He talks a good game but when he's on the court he just disappears/ checked out of the game. Fans say he's a leader off the court and in the locker room. But yet nothing on the court...
He also does the intangibles and all that but then he just doesn't show up in games. Why is that? I'll tell you why. This guy is a sissy. He doesn't take his off court roles onto the hardwood. He's just an insecure kid when taking that leadership role on the court and that's why he's inconsistent.
Hey what do you guys think about T.J Ford? Indiana plans to buy him out, you think this would be a nice pick-up if LA got him for cheap?
Maybe we just got to wait and c

Odom and Brown Just got married they don't have anything left for the court. It's ho Hum Basketball is not as fun!
Spurs Players must not be getting ANY!
Your absolutely right! Its just frustrating to see the guys play like crap.
I know it may be frustrating but people are acting as if previous championship teams never lost any games.
It's very frustrating to see Lakers losing games. I would always say to myself, just
watch the games when come to playoffs. Well, until now, I still watch the games.
The
frustration and satisfaction is just part of the thrill, I guess.
