Why o why do we continue to play like this....kiss that Number one seed goodbye. Hornets lose. All we had to do was to turn it up just a notch. The Lakers decided to do this at the last 4 minutes of the game and it wasn't enough. Portland beat us fare and square easily throughout the game...

Is anyone worried about our point guard position....man o man fisher and farmar got beat repeatedly

Don't you guys see this trend.....Dallas and Washington game was the same but we were lucky enough to get those wins. Am I worried....yes. Hope we come back and beat the Hornets and the Spurs and send a message....

OUR DEFENSE IS HORRIBLE! AND WE HAD SO MANY OPPRITUNITIES, BUT WE LOST THEM, HOW CAN WE WIN LIKE THAT! Whew, glad I got that out of my system.

bynum is the key...

we are living or dying with our perimeter game right now,

while before we destroy team on the points and pscologically...

him playing in the paint, on offense AND defense, is our anchor of the team,

and we just dont have the presense now...

pau's been good, but hypes over and he is just playing like pau now.

i just cannot wait when big drew is back, and when we have a complete team.

we have waited for 12 weeks,

i can wait for one more, when he come back next week.

the rest in-between end of season to playoff will be crucial for us as well.

fish, luke, kobe, gasol, AB, LO all need time for their body...

we could drop to 5th tomorrow, houston is only a half game behind us and theyre playing the sonics tomorrow. however they play the suns and jazz next, also the suns are only a game back. home court could be the deciding factor in a lot of these series, i know we can win without it but when a series goes 7, that homecourt is huge.

also fisher is looking like he is in pain out there, his lateral quickness is not his usual. farmar needs to get focused because i see more minutes coming his way. what i saw the blazers do was set a lot of back screens, lakers got caught a lot of times watching the ball.

hopefully this game will be a wake up call, i m sure the coaching staff is getting on them for their d, but maybe now itll really get intense at practice. bynum will be back soon to clean up some of our defensive mistakes, and we wont have to help out as much down low

best part of our defense this game was odoms foul, should have came a lot earlier in the game to send in a message, that him and gasol can give out the punishment

this venting felt good, i know we can get this together, we just need to get the fire back and i think kobe will give it to them

we wont be falling to 5th because we are ahead of phx and utah.

as pacific divison winner we are basically set at the 3rd spot... if we win the pacific that is.

I could care less about the number 1 seed. All I'm concerned about is having our guys healthy and ready to go. It doesn't matter where we play (except Portland w/o Bynum).

I'm not mad at Pau tonight. He finished with 23 & 13. Can't ask for much more. He's no where near the stopper that Bynum is, so we can't be too mad at him tonight. It's the rest of those guys perimeter defense, including Kobe that got us killed once again. That three point play by Roy was absolutely ridiculous and at the worse time. But it wouldn't have happend had our guards stepped up.

Watching our team play defense sickens me! I cant stand watching us play on the defensive side of the court! I just dont understand why we go through so many collapses game-in and game-out. I dont see any communication going on with the players and we get killed by penetration all the damn time. GRRRRR!!!

I'm the same way, at times I'd rather just wait til the games over to rewind the tape because I can't stand watching these guys play on the other end of the court. I can take a loss when you man up and get beat, but when you play horrible fundamental defense and collapse at horrible times of the game, it's sickening to watch.

I think the #1 seed is crucial. (Not only from a Kobe MVP standpoint).

But who would you rather go through...Denver/Utah/N.O. or Phoenix/San Antonio/N.O.??

Big difference if you ask me.

On thing I realized every game that the lakers dn't get the calls they want they whine and COLLAPSE! I am not sayin that they shoudn't get the calls...( this games refs where horrible btw) I agreed they should've def got the calls but when u whine to the ref and dont get back this is what happens. Is whining gonna give u back the cak... hell no! get back to the game and whine during timeouts!

da reason our defense was horrible casue we baked off cause tat granpa ref called every little ticky fouls

you should care about the 1 seed because if we get it we'll play denver in the first round = we make it to at least the second round

p.s. the jazz and rockets are both over 2 games behind us so were still ok

We're gonna have to face S.A sometime during the playoff run and they're the biggest threat to us. Everyone else should be managable (If we're healthy of course)

lakersforthewin and samustudio are right. and what they're doing is stepping back, not letting this loss blind them, and looking at the big picture.

we're not playing lakers basketball. lakers basketball entails that we have all of our players healthy. you can't actually think that we'll be playing this style of ball when bynum's back? when he does get back, guards beating our guards off the dribble have andrew bynum to stare at. when he gets back, we've got a legitimate shot blocker, rebounder, finisher, and passer in the LOW POST. pau's been operating about 10-15 feet away from the basket.

our current game is NOTHING like what it's GOING to be when bynum gets back. and when people keep saying that we're using bynum as an excuse, i just laugh. because it's a justifiable excuse. if they didn't watch the way the lakers played during that winning streak with bynum playing TREMENDOUS basketball, then they don't know how good bynum really is/was.

the only thing holding my optimism back is the fact that we don't know if bynum's going to come back as good as he was, but i'm confident that with bynum at 80% (at least), we can make a strong push for the championship.

...Not to mention they try to run a halfcourt trap that looks like a dysfunctional zone, but what makes it bad is that they are so slow on their rotation that it turns out to be just an unnecessary double-team. WTF!

ok now im done Very Happy

we have two problems:

1)Defense.

2)Weak mentality.

Trust me, the refs are no where near to blame for this teams defense

Chill guys. Everyone just needs to calm down. Nothing bad is happening. Who cares if we lose. We are in the playoffs. Either way Byno is coming back, Ariza is and we will still whoop the Suns and Spurs.

Andrew Bynum? Don´t want to be a downer, but don´t expect too much from Andrew until next season.

If Lakers wants to win, they should think about winning as they are now.

Well if we're basing our entire postseason future on a "Dominant" Andrew Bynum saving us then we'll be in trouble. Maybe you guys forget that Drew has had a Major knee injury. An injury that might have ended other players seasons. He's not going to be coming back and playing the same 40 minutes and dominating the game like he was before he was injured, nor should he be asked to. The playoffs start in two weeks and drew has yet to practice with the team and your expecting him to come back and put up 20 & 12 and 5blks in the first round??

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but i just didnt feel that a new thread should be made on my question. I purchased some tickets from a season ticket holder for this fridays game against New Orleans and on the ticket it says "Admit Royal Room". So my question is, will i be able to go into that room or is that on by name basis?

Of course he's not going to give big results but he comes back ready to play and be effective otherwise theres no reason to bring him back so soon.

We're not expecting Bynum to be 100%. in fact we really don't need much from him on the offensive end of things. sure maybe a few alley-oops and post moves would be nice but he brings much more on the defensive end. He might only average 2 blocks per game but it's the little things that don't show up on the stat sheet like altered shots.

Yeah, that's actually a good point. All he needs to do really is clog the paint.

That alone changes the game from a defensive standpoint.

the best we can hope bynum: 10-15(20 best scenario) minutes coming from the bench.

its OK!

We just didnt have the effort we needed on defense to win a game!

that is it

CAZ_LAKERFAN_KOBEFAN wrote:

I'd say more 20-25 ish in the last few games of the season+1st round. barring any re-aggravations the minutes should increase going into the 2nd rnd.

lftw, ah nevermind.

Inside defense is what we're lagging. Bynum will bring that back and that's what he's going to do at the start and along with some easy hoops.

what about phil jackson? all these little mind games and strange coaching tactics will be out the window during the playoffs. i've always believed that he employs these strange coaching techniques during the regular season to strengthen the team for the playoffs. in the postseason, hopefully he'll pull up his sleeves, buckle down and show us why he's won 9 championships.

oh yeah, we forgot to mention kobe bryant. i don't think he'll let us go down 13 points in a playoff game without a fight. i'm looking to him to step up his game during the playoffs.

are you waiting for Andrew or Robocop?

PJAX's mind games are indeed interesting. Throwing random comments about Bynum's return to throw other teams off perhaps?

That's what makes him a good coach. His mind tricks and all the wacko things he does that no other coach would do.

His tricks gets the players to play, correct? Look at Vlad. He called him out in the press a few days ago and he's been on fire.

I believe he also called out Lamar and now look at LO

Yes he did... He might not do what seems right during the games at times but I never question his decisions. Ever. Even what he says. When he calls out his players he never says it directly. Like the last 'callout' he was saying how his players don't live up to their contracts, mainly Vlad and Odom.

Farmar can't be hitting another wall. He's too old for that now. He needs to step it up and help the bench mob.

PJ needs to question Turiaf. Wheres his pop that he used to have. He was so fun to watch and play but now I'm disgusted with him.

Its way passed getting a wake up call dude, they're still making the same mistakes they have been making all season and teams are supposed to get better defensively not worse or not improve at all. Two things that the lakers lack and will cost us in the playoffs is toughness and good schemes on how to stop the pick and roll. Dont get the hard foul on roy mistaken for toughness, I saw how odom walked away when confronted first hand. Im starting to have a hard time finding reasons to think this team will go far in the playoffs.

The Lakers started exhibiting very bad habits when they started blowing out so many teams earlier in the season and after Gasol arrived. For some weird reason the Lakers started easing back defensively and not playing the passing lanes like they were earlier in the season. The Lakers aren't getting blowouts anymore because they've slacked defensively, and it shows that the defensive effort isn't there like it was. The pick and roll wasn't a problem like it is now with the Lakers, penetration to the lane is becoming far too easy and we don't have Andrew in the paint to erase things.

The Lekars are a sinking ship because you don't go into the playoffs playing bad basketball, it's too contagious. The reason the Lakers took Phoenix to seven games a couple of years back is that they were confident because of how many games they won going in. The Lakers desperately need to string together some consistent wins while headed in or we're done.

Man oh Man is anyone else as tired as me.....watching the Lakers throw up so many freaking threes....this is something that has to stop it has been the norm in the last 10 games.........pick n roll with Gasol... anyone remember that one?????

We have officially become the phoenix suns....without the scoring threes arrrrrrrrrrrgh

Andrew Bynum getting hurt so bad that hes absence will likey cost us a championship this year that we would have won with him, Pau and Lamar backed up by Kobe and the Bench Mob. If we dont win it(and i dont think we can without a healthy starting Drew)its gonna be a very very very long year thinking of what could have and what would have been....ughh!

Soft D that consistantly allows drives to the basket and wide open three point jump shots by the opponents that almost never seem to miss.

Luke missing another wide open 12 foot jump shot or a layup then shaking his head as he goes up court....

I hate it when lamar shoots a 3 its pretty much an automatic miss. Whenever he does make one i am shocked that he did make one. I also hate how kobe rarely takes the open J and how he waits till he is guarded by someone to jack up the shot when initially he had a wide open shot. I also hate it when the lakers get a huge lead and start jacking up 3's instead of penetrating and drawing fouls or getting ez baskets. Thats pretty much my only issues since we got rid of kwame and b. cook. I think that since lamar started playing more aggresively on O and the lakers traded their 2 scrubs luke walton took over as the most frustrating laker with V. rad coming in a close second. All is good in lakerland imo.

I hate thaat I have to wait another 3 days until I can watch the lakers DOMINATE

man, our team is growing more and more STINGY on points allowed and it seems downright frustrating for the opponent. darn it, I hope this trend continues into a complete DYNASTY!

how the hell could you be frustrated with the lakers when we just beat down the nuggets to go up 3-0

(besides bynum)

I´m just upsed, kobe is playong bad, mentaly, !#W"$"#%$%&#&##$, sorry, just venting.
