Balance of Power

So I hear that Jason Kidd (through his agent) has asked for a trade from the Brooklyn..er..New Jersey Nets..

It's debatable whether the Laker FO should get involved in the race for Kidd.

At first, I was a proponent of making a deal to bring him in, even if that meant giving up Farmar. I've since changed my mind, seeing as how they need some serious size (and Kwame ain't gettin it done).

As debatable as bringing Kidd to Lakerland would be, I wish to pose this question to all of you other Laker fans...

If Jason Kidd becomes a Laker (presumably for a deal involving Kwame, Farmar/Crit, and Luke/Vlad) and Bynum and Ariza come back totally healthy, does that makes us the instant favorite not only in the West, but also in the whole league?

if the deal involves kwame, crit, and luke, then i like our chances. retaining farmar and vlad's outside shooting will make it easy for jason kidd to rack up the assists by finding them in the corner.

but to be honest, i'd really rather want to see what jcritt can do for us in the future. he's shown an impressive array of offensive talent, despite his typical rookie mistakes.

so lets break it down guys...

just lay down all the rules,

and make this thing work.

here...

kwame = (9mil)

luke = (1/2 of 4 mil in a trade, he is a base year player)

vladman = (5.6 mil - but has another 3 years LEFT)

farmar = (1mil)

Critt = (1.2mil)

jason kidd?? he is at 19.7...

it will take us kwame, vladman, PLUS either farmar or Critt, and PICKS to get him, alone...

a 3+pick for 1 deal...

we will have a weak front line, weak outside shooting, and lack of depth on our bench.

but yet, damn, hes jason kidd, and i want him, we all want him bad...

kobe will be happy, bynum will become DHoward THIS SEASON!

now.. here is my crazy thought!

LO and kwame + pick for jason kidd and boone.

the net get 9 mil expiring, and they get LO to be their distributor, a kidd replacement, sort of...

LO will be better in the east, with two slasher/shooter/scorer...

we then get to play this line up:

kidd/farmar/Critt,

kobe/fisher/sasha,

luke/ariza,

boone/radman

bynum/ronny/mhim...

i think this is the deal to do, what you guys think.

Nahh. Let's just concentrate on grabbing some legit talent for our frontcourt, preferably a combo bigman to backup 4 & 5.

Any ideas there fellas?

Exactly, that is what we need. We don't need a point guard. We already have Fisher and Farmar.

Some PF/C that we could try to get are: Chris Wilcox, Pau Gasol, Udonis Haslem, or Charlie Villanueva.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of free agency, but I like the way you think, LFLBB.

Thanks.

The thing is, is that there really isn't any free agents out there that could help us out. Maybe a D-Leaguer? I don't know.

Chris "The Birdman" Anderson is trying to get back in the league, I don't f he would help, but he can definitely dunk the ball.

Despite all detraction, Jason Kidd to LA still intrigues my gut.

Crittenton is nice but I will let him go in a hearbeat for Kidd.

Odom 13.2M

Kwame 9.1M

Crittenton 1.3M

Kidd 19.7M

Allen 700k

Sean Williams 1.4M

The Nets are very high on Sean Williams. What makes you think they would give him up for that Lakers package? I think this deal is extremely far fetched.

We would have to do a trade or sign & trade to get a free agent since we have no cap space. But I think the same as some that Kidd is not what we really need right now, we are stacked at PG for years to come; If we could obtain a solid physical PF it would really help us a bunch front court.
