LO, We need you to play like a PF to win...
Lakers Forum » Super Laker Fan Forum (Veteran Members Only)he was horrible. i don't want this team to rely on odom's play, because he's more likely to suck than play well.
i just don't understand why he goes for jumpshots that he can't make. you're right; even critt ran the ball in. he even finished; something LO can't do with longer length, easier looks, easy chances at layups.
sigh. 3-15. 0-3 3s. drew no fouls. 2 horrible turnovers when the possession really counted. blocked twice?? a PF?
he's let us down for a long time. we were only off his back temporarily because andrew stepped up as our second option and by himself, BECAME our frontcourt.
look to someone else to help our lakers out, guys. fisher, ariza, farmar, turiaf. even brown over odom. that's pretty sad odom. go ahead and prove me wrong, lamar, but i'm extremely skeptical about your skills.
let's hope LO step up....
Geez, I really do hope that we sign Webber. That way we can start Odom and let him play 10 minutes then put Webber in for the rest of the time. I think LO needs a wake up call. I think benching him is the right way to go. I know our options are limited but i never see anybody drilling into LO when he misses a lay up. If the players really care about him then they would tell him he should be making those shots. Get him a little bit angry and boost his confidence. Kobe should pass up on some shots and give them to LO for a jam or something like that. I'm just hoping not to see a game like last night's from LO again. Thankgod we have the greatest player in the world and the greatest clutch player ever on our team or else we would have lost that game.
Come on LO, prove us wrong!!!
benching lo means we will lose he may not score as much as we like him to but he is definetly the best rebounder on our team, the only person who might be better is bynum
Thanks AJ, because I was just about to mention LAmar's rebounding. He may not play on the blocks like a PF, but he boards like one. This Bynum injury will truly test us because he was the only big who's a consistent finisher in the paint, now that's gone for two months.
Odom needs to go down low and try to get baskets that way...I don't care what the percentage is, but just get alot of attempts...that would put the opposing team in foul trouble and that would also mean that he's trying to get his shot...and when Odom's aggressive and gets fouled, that means that he's gonna have a good chance at getting the and-1...forget about passing to your teammates, just think about your own shot...
And you would think that with all those missed layups and threes Lamar would have a poor fg%, at least lower than any other Laker, yet he doesn't. He has a rather high fg%. I'm dumbfounded.
My point in all of this is that he be a presense in the post, like a PF should, I know he's not JO, EB, DH, but we need someone who can operate out of the post position in the triangle for it to work. As "versatile" as everyone says he is , he could try and set up position, pivot and face the D, and make a one dribble move to the hole. This would be better than his stationary 10 dribbles at the top of the key, then driving- LEFT- and allowing all that time for the defense to react. He used to set up in the post more, and if he does this again, it will allow Everyone else to get better looks. And as KB244life stated he will draw fouls down there.
My problem him is yah he gets rebounds- on defense- which is good, but he doesn't play in the paint on offense. Luke, Fish, And Kobe can handle the perimeter, we don't need our PF hanging out on the 3 pt. line.
I am not a LO fan but I guarentee if LO sets up as our post guy the majority of the time (and gets fed the ball) he will average 15, 10 and 8. He will get double teamed after he beats the opposing PF off the dribble a few times and will become a post passer on the move increasing his assists. and just the fact that he'll make post moves he'll get to the line, increasing his points. Phil needs to realize this.
I agree, Lamar needs to start operating in the low post. He won't be able to out-muscle the bigger PFs out there, but he can sure as hell take them off the dribble while facing them up. He can slash to the basket from the low post and score.
In fact, wasn't that how he scored before? He would blow right past his defender in the post and take two strides into the hoop for an easy lay-in? He needs to put in more of a scorer's mentality.
But first and foremost, he needs to grow a pair. =/
The reason why people are shocked/dumbfounded by Lamar's good fg% even though he misses layups and jacks up threes is because he's under the microscope for anything he does negative on the offensive end. I don't like to see Lamar shoot the 3, but I do like to see him take jumpers up to 20 ft because he actually does have a good jumper that he can get off on people. I really miss seeing that hook shot of his in the post which is deadly, I've seen it like twice all year for some weird reason.
Another thing is Odom has post moves...he's faster than most power forwards in this league...why doesn't he use those moves and try to get the majority of his shots that way...I can not stand the 3 that Odom shoots...it's not as ugly as Marion's, but it never goes it...that's what I hate about it...I like when he shoots the 15 footer...I can live with the 20 footer, but I'd rather have Odom move up closer so that he can change his mind and get in the paint...whenever he plays against Marion I'm amazed...I know Marions smaller & weaker, but I wish he would play that way against the rest of the league...if he's not gonna score the ball well enough, well then go for those triple doubles...rebounds are always there for Odom, I'd rather have him score, but if he can't then he needs to get teammates open shots...and if he has an open lane then that's when Odom needs to take a shot, or a layup...let's see how he handles himself after the Phoenix game, because I'm expecting a pretty good game from Odom, & the rest of the Lakers team against Phoenix...we know them well enough to always be able to play them good...Phoenix, y'all better be ready for the Lakers...
He needs to work on the ol' Magic running hook in the lane- he could have that anytime he wants. I can't believe if he set up in the post any team would double team him and if they did he could pass out of it with his length. PLEASE GOD PLEASE make him play like a PF and quit standing at the 3 pt. line watching Kobe and waiting for the ball. Could you imagine if he'd post on the same side as Kobe with Kobe feeding him the ball and cutting to the rim? they could run a nice 2 man game that way, or how about him setting the pick and roll rather than Kwame- at least a defender would have to keep his position since LO can hit a jumper unlike Kwame- both defenders roll with Kobe knowing Kwame isn't a scoring threat.
just stop shooting those damn 3s!
Lamar will step up tonight against SAS.
LO has been criticized for not being agressive enough and giving the ball up to much. In last nights game he drove to the hoop for what looked like an easy 3 ft layup. So what did he do, he throws a pass in the lane to Kwame who was sandwiched between two players. It would have been a difficult pass even for Kobe, but Kwame......give me a break. So instead of a for sure 2 pts and maybe a trip to the line at a time when we really needed it we lost the ball. This was one of the worst plays I have ever seen LO make.
