Lobbying for Kidd and so shall you...

Jason Kidd to the Lakers is getting old. Yet for some diehards like me who think the Lakers can do wonders with a rejuvenated Kidd on the roster, here's my proposal and dare I say this is as fair as I can see both camps do. NJ does not have to completely blow it up. In order to accommodate Kidd's silent request, NJ management might see an opportunity to contend in the East by trading Kidd. Its a very unlikely scenario but the idea intrigues me. Proposal: NJ trades: Jason Kidd, Sean Williams, Josh Boone (to LA) receives: Andre Miller (PHI), Lamar Odom, 08 1st (from LA) LA trades: Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton (to Philly) LA trades: Lamar Odom, 08 1st (to NJ) receives: Jason Kidd, Sean Williams, Josh Boone (from NJ) Philly trades: Andre Miller (to NJ) receives: Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton (from LA) =============================================== New Jersey Does NJ do this? I'd probably think yes. They get 2 semi-stars for Jason Kidd and they boost the lineup with 4 very good players. They also get LA's 08 1st as a consolation prize. They'll give Boston and Detroit a run for their money. Andre Miller / Marcus Williams Vince Carter / Antoine Wright Richard Jefferson / Boki Nachbar Lamar Odom / Malik Allen Jamal Magloire / Jason Collins That's a solid lineup in the East folks. Philadelphia While Ed Stefanski figures to be "keeping" Andre Miller for some unknown reason, all the signs point heavily that he won't be playing for the Sixers come deadline. Sixers gain the prospect of Javaris Crittenton along with Kwame's huge expiring thereby creating around 18m of cap space come summer. That should be enough to lure Elton Brand out of LA or Josh Smith out of Atlanta while losing nothing from the PG spot. With Lou Williams and JCritt at point, the future looks brighter for the Sixers. LA Lakers Are you f****ng kidding me? That's....

That trade looks good for all teams...New Jersey would have a pretty good starting 5...with the exception of Magloire perhaps...Philly would get a young talent in J-Crit to be their future PG & another expiring contract to sign a big name in the free-agent market...and we would get Kidd, Sean Williams who is playing defense quite well for a rookie, & Boone...and not only that...but our team would be even deeper...that trade I am 100% for...if it were up to me I would OK it...I thought Farmar would learn alot from Fisher...think about how much he'll learn from Fisher & Kidd...so I'm lobbying for Kidd...

I think that's a really good idea Warren. This actual deal might even happen, so who knows.

My only concern is that the Lakers get even younger and more unproven up front with the loss of Odom and Kwame in exchange for Williams and Boone. That might be very costly for us because it's a big question mark as to how these guys will perform later on and into the playoffs.

I have an idea...

1. Instead of sending Kwame and Critt to Phili, how about we offer them Farmar, Radman and a an 09 1st? Yes I know they want expiring deals, but isn't this a better package talant wise? Think about it, they just traded Korver, so Rad can now come in and be the shooter that they lack. Also, he can play PF, a position they are weak at. Farmar will step in and start immediatly and the future pick is just iceing on the cake. Instead of Odom, we now send Kwame and an 07 1st to NJ.

Phili will still send Miller to NJ.

NJ sends Kidd to LA. They keep both Sean Williams and Josh Boone on their team, which I'm sure is what they would prefer to do.

Here's another idea, how about instead of the Kidd, we go after Andre Miller himself? Radman, Farmar, and an 07 1st for Miller?

Warren, that's a great idea, but there is no possible way NJ will get rid of Boone and Williams as well as Kidd. Boone and Williams will be monsters in about a year or two. They'll get rid of one at best. I'd definitely go for Williams, but either would be great. I like your second idea, popp. We pretty much keep our core, except Farmar, and we get a very talented point guard in Andre Miller. For me, I say deal.

popp, i know that is a better, deeper and more savvy team you built there, but no way philli would take that deal, at least the way i understand it. a bit of wishful thinking for a hardcore laker fan... reasons below.

PHI is obviously starting the rebuilding process under the new GM, possibly around AI, but you never know... but most likely, agree? theres 3 things they want, AND 1 thing they DONT want;

#1- they like young propects #2- they like draft picks, preferably first rounders #3- they like expiring contracts the only one, a its a BIG NO NO, is the fact that they dont want any bad contracts.

so hum, let me see, radman... young? not really. talented? he could shoot, right? but they just got gireck from utah this week! (whom also has #3 above btw), and plus, this is the killer, his contract. no way PHI will take on his remaining 6 mil per contract.

i think your propose trade is fair to all sides, and its quite feasible.

i just would not go as far to say JCrit is the next iverson,

while bynum is the next shaq and william the next bosh...

players of the likes of iverson and shaq do not come often,

I don't think that NJ will trade away their last two draft picks. And knowing how we can turn a project, Andrew Bynum, into a monster, they wouldn't trade us big Sean Williams and Josh Boone. In 2-3 years time, they will be the newest Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby.

I don't want to say that I don't like us to have Jason Kidd, because I do, but I just don't want to disrupt the chemistry that we have. The Lakers are playing well despite the distractions in the offseason, and with that, I want them to grow with that distraction and see past it. If they do, and continue to play well as a unit, they will be one of the best teams.

Look at any good team, well maybe except Boston, they have at least 6-7 players playing together for at least 3-4 years. If we bring in someone new, even if it is Kidd, it may or may not dirupt what we are achieving. I may be wrong but this is how I see it.

Like it or not, Mitch has done a good job so far. The acquisition of Trevor Ariza has been big and it has helped us in the defensive end the most. Lets wait on how we will fare in the post season and then go from there.
