This summer we will have 3 key free agents such as Kwame, Turiaf and at a lesser extent, Sasha. I would say that all 3 fit our team pretty well and have a future here as long as they don't get traded between now and then. Lets look at a few scenarios for our team this summer:
Stay intact:
In case we don't make any moves during the season, we will have our team intact and should keep them together. Assuming that our season ends on a high note, here's how I see the contracts for these players:
Kwame - 5 year 30 million Turiaf - 5 year 30 million Sasha - 3 year 9 million
That means we will have our full roster intact and also have one more spot for a free agent at the mid level. Here's some offers that make sense:
Kurt Thomas - 1 year 5 million. Mo Evans - 3 years 9 million. (let sasha walk) Gerald Green - 3 year 12 million (again no more sasha) Patrick O'Bryant - 3 year 9 million
Another huge asset will be Lamar Odom. He will have a 15 million expiring deal and he's a solid player as well, and in case we do make a big trade this offseason without including other guys, Lamar will be the main guy gone. Here's some guys who might opt out and ask for a sign and trade:
Elton Brand. Shawn Marion. JO. Maggette. Artest.
Think about it, if a team is going to lose one of those players, wouldn't they at least want a guy like Odom who's a good player and has an expiring deal? Yes they would.
This summer should be interesting, and until then, we might even make a move that lands us a top notch player such as Gasol, JO, Marion, AK-47 and at a lesser extent, Artest or Kidd.
