Lakers at Thunder Game Day 2026-04-02
Lakers Forum » Lakers Game DayThis game should attract many viewers. The Lakers lost to OKC last time they met, so it is time for the Lakers to beat up this team. But we will need Ayton to step up and play like he is capable. Lakers will need everybody healthy for this team. Need to win to hold the third place standing.
The game is scheduled for 7:30pm but it's not until 9:30pm to actually watch it.
Prime is covering it as well...
I think the Lakers need to keep pace with this lightning fast team with interchangeable players.
If they can keep it close in the first half, the Lakers ought to be able to control the pace of the second half as they have for the past month or so...
Rui and our bigs are very important this game. The Thunder are stacked, including their bench so keeping pace means our bigs holding their own against Holmgren, Topik and Hartenstein which is no easy task...
There are rumors that the Thunder will trade or release Alex Caruso.
What a perfect opportunity to package Knecht and somebody else to get Alex back to the Lakers...
Not a good start as turnovers bite- gotta be smarter with the passes
5 minutes in and the Lakers do not yet have a bucket...
Adjustments needed quickly!
Too many easy buckets by the Thunder- it's like 14 zip in the paint
Sooooooo , delete this one from my DVR?
Guys gotta calm down and execute, period, vs chucking up quick contested shots.
Ayton had dropped three shuffle passes leading to 3 turnovers.
Reaves has passed the ball right into the hands of the defense or out of bounds leading to 3 turnovers.
With a total of 8 turnovers already, it would seem PROTECTING THE BALL is where attention needs to refocus.
Reaves holding his left side but drills the triple anyways, cuts it to 13
Well, if OKC is gonna hit all those open 3's it's gonna be tough
Rui good hustle to get the loose ball and Luka with a nice layup- need a lot more those
Hayes has made a difference- made SGA miss, now hits the little hook
Rough end to an already bad Q as Lebron fouls Williams shooting a 3. 44-21 OKC.
Ouch...
All of that 1st quarter destruction, got to do something different... Again, protect the ball and slow it down.
What are the Thunder doing which is interfering with Lakers lobs?
The good news is that the Thunder do not shoot that well so that will trail off and the Lakers do not shoot that poorly so that will improve...
Bronny in to start the second Q
Reaves has 4 turnovers...
Had a bad feeling about this game so I’m not watching it. I have it recording, but am not going to watch them get slaughtered. I wouldn’t care as much but we have Denver climbing up our asses on a 8 game win streak. I think we will end up 4th in standings because of our schedule.
Lol Lebron volleyball spikes Wallace's layup into the 3rd row
Lebron roughs up J Dub and nearly destroys Mitchell with that dunk that just rimmed out
Giving way up too many second chance points
Yeah... this game seems to be out of hand down 32 now. Just ran into a buzzsaw.
The Lakers are finding advantage in the middle.
Maybe JJ needs to play Ayton and Hayes together?
They are doubling Luka every possession and both Luka and Reaves are nursing injuries.
Not looking good Lakers fans...
82 points given up in the first half, down 31. Might as well just play the bench guys the rest of the way so guys don't get seriously injured before the playoffs.
Lakers are getting a whipping tonight. Down by 31 points at the half. Started with Reaves three consecutive turn overs and it was all down hill the rest of the half for the Lakers. I believe they have like twelve turn overs by half time. Luka has been terrible showing he is a quitter when they go against a good team. Ayton as usual fumbling the ball every time they passed him the ball. The guy must have small hands or something. Not much help from the bench. I doubt the Lakers can pull this one out tonight. Any team that allows 82 points at the half is not playing much defense, they actually deserve to lose.
The Thunder play American NBA Basketball.
The league has been trending towards a Euro-style which is a slowed down, intellectual game in the manner of Doncic, Sengun and Jokic who are not dominating athletically, but winning strategically.
This game and the Thunder demonstrate the difference between the two. Thunder is young and perhaps have a few more years of this super-athletic domination at which time they will have to shift things to a more strategic approach.
Who can beat them? Other young fast teams with the super-athlete approach which at this time is San Antonio. I think Stephen Castle is one of the best PGs in the league so much so that DeAaron Fox is coming off the bench behind him.
Were I JJ, I would play two bigs and add some speed to the lineup whether that's Bronny or the other two young guards who can blow past the defense and play the athlete first approach. I'm not sure that the controlled pace approach is going to work in the second half because the Lakers have to shift to fast paced with each defensive transition and they cannot keep up.
What about Luka. They are deploying the simple strategy of double teaming him in the backcourt which means somebody else named Reaves has to come to the ball and take on the scoring load. If he does that, then Luka will get freed up a bit to get more shots up.
In addition, Holmgren and and Hartenstein are asserting dominance in the paint.
IS JJ not seeing this?
Luka said (reading his lips) "He should have shot that," referring to Ayton wide open on the foul line.
He is correct...
Not a good sign there as Luka on the ground with a hammy issue. A bit puzzled why JJ chose to keep playing the big guns in a game obviously way out of hand.
Can I delete this from my DVR now?
This game could impact LeBron's future.
It screams that the Lakers cannot win the championship this season and perhaps hints that they cannot win without some new players in upcoming seasons.
His age will become a liability at some point whether in LA or somewhere else.
Is there a better chance to win in Cleveland or Golden State?
He might consider this to be a massive hint that it's time to hang up his Sneakers...
Vando making a statement during garbage time...
"Why was I on the bench for the entire game?"

Reeves telling that d-bag Thunder fan to shut the f up after he yelled, “Now you don’t have to play defense”, was the only positive part of that game. Well done Reeves. That fan is a pile of **** and should be banned from NBA games.
With Luka out, things are not looking positive. From what I’ve researched, if he has a type I or II strain, he could be out for 2 to 6 weeks. If it’s not a strain and just pulled something, we are looking at a few games. I’ve liked the way they have been playing, but we still have one massive elephant in the room - there is still way too much dependency on one player. For us to win, we need Luka scoring 40-60 points, which is absurd. Let’s say hypothetically speaking that Luka didn’t get hurt last night and we kept the 3 spot. I think that with this team healthy, we could make it to the conference finals and face the Thunder. Do I think that the Lakers could take the Thunder in the conference finals? Nope, not a chance.
With Luka out for most likely the rest of the regular season and a relatively tough schedule ahead, we could easily slip to 6th in the standings and face the Nuggets in the first round with their home court advantage. That’s just bad news on all ends. If Luke has a strain, we are getting eliminated in the first round once again. Sad ending to what appeared to be a positive turnaround for this team.
Well it was a spanking from the start, and I blame the loss on very poor passing by Reaves, Luka and LeBron. You can not go against the number one team and make stupid passes, and even if you do, you got to get back on defense, LeBron does not. Reaves has been at the golf coarse too much and has been coming to play tired. Luka either he has been injured for quit a while or he just gives up when he faces tough defenses. It is not the first time Luka has pulled this BS. I have been watching this guy that he flourishes when the defense is weak, but as soon as somebody doubles him he starts grimacing and making all kinds of faces like he is in pain. So I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but he is suspect to me. OKC has a bunch of good players, and they are tall and good. Our Ayton looked lost, could not hold on to the ball, and missed several ten to fifteen foot shots. I hope we never meet this team in the playoffs because OKC is a very well balanced team. The Lakers will drop in the standings if Luka does not come back. We still have some tough games ahead including OKC again. But I still say that a healthy rested Laker team could be dangerous.
If you look at the stats for OKC there was only two players that scored in the twenties, so it was more of a team effort then one or two players doing all the scoring.
Now look at the Laker stats and nobody scored in the twenties which is very unusual. Usually we have Doncic scoring up in the thirties, Lebron in the twenties and the same for Reaves, so it was just a bad night for the Lakers. Can not win them all. Now lets see how they respond when the OKC comes to Los Angeles. If the Lakers can beat this team, it will put them back as top contenders. LOL!

From what I have read, he’s out “indefinitely” with a strain confirmed by the MRI conducted today. I have not heard if it’s a Type I or II, but at the very least, he will not play another regular season game. There’s a small possibility that he could return for the playoffs where we will most likely be in the 6th spot to play the Nuggets with their home court advantage. Could we beat the Nuggets? It really depends on if Luka returns for game one. If that happens and we steal one in Denver, possibly…. This whole thing has turned into an absolute mess thanks to the Thunder. We were down by nearly 50 points. Why was he out there!?!? Honestly, I hope the Thunder get rip to shreds in the playoffs. I am tired of hearing about that team and that **** SGA. Now that the Lakers are out, I will be rooting for anyone playing the Thunder. That includes the Clippers and the Celtics
