Brand New Site Update!

Lakers Forum » Lakers Topbuzz Announcements

Hey everyone- welcome to the newly revamped Lakers NewsSurge!

For the past few months, I’ve been working hard to overhaul the site, modernizing both the UI and the backend features to make everything run smoother. I really hope you enjoy the new look. This site is built for you, so please feel free to share your thoughts- there is no Lakers News Surge without this community.

While I’ve squashed hundreds of bugs during the update, a few might have slipped through the cracks. If you spot anything broken or out of place, please drop a reply here or send me a PM so I can get it fixed.

Thanks for your continued support!

Dave

Slightly slow to load. Other than that, looks good. Still have to play with some of the features.

Thanks! There was an issue on the server, but should be snappier now.

Yep, working good.

Hey guys I've also added a new notifications system. You've probably noticed the bell icon on the menu bar. Also there is now an @username mention that triggers a notification as well in that notification area.

Just added sortable roster and player stats section

Hi Dave and well done. I presume you did this for all of your chat forums including the Clips.

A lot of work no doubt.

I will take the time to share any issues that arise. Cleary you addressed my earlier share because I am logged in and commenting.

Generally speaking, the separation between comments seems a little thin somehow. The previous bold colors left things very clear regarding one post and the next.

Also, shortcuts, I used to be able to go from the Game Day forum to the Guess the Game Score quickly, now it appears I must go hrough a menu. Perhaps I missed it?

Anyway, I've been a professional designer my entire career and I know what it takes to get projects resolved. Expect to be tweaking for awhile now. Thanks for the effort, very well done.

What does 'Stay Here' mean after you press submit?

I tried it and my post was removed and I had to type it again...

Thanks John and appreciate you sending the errors and your feedback. I'll look into the separation of comments, and will move the guess the score link up on the menu.

That's a good point- it's actually supposed to keep you where you are BUT I can see it is confusing because it doesn't show your post that just went through, so I'll be removing that button.

I thought it could mean, instead of posting the new published note and focusing on it, that it would remain in a new empty window ready to make a new post.

I went ahead and removed it- didn't work well after more testing.

Hi Dave, when you are on the Guess the Game Score page and you press 'Return to Game Thread', the only one available takes you to the previous and not the current game. Perhaps a small tweak could take you to the current game instead, after you enter your score...

Second suggestion, another very helpful stat that could be included in the summary page for each live game, is the win-loss history between the teams. You have the option of looking at 3, 5, 10, 15 or 20 previous games + playoffs. Here's a link which includes that information.
