Lakers vs. 76ers Game Day 2026-02-05

Lakers Forum » Lakers Game Day

How will the Lakers do in the game against the 76ers? What must the Lakers do earn a victory? Which opposing player(s) should Purple and Gold be wary of? Will the game be a high-scoring affair or low-scoring? Which Laker need step up this game?

Guys giving up way too many easy hoops- little J's in the lane, layups.

That was a big charge taken by Reaves- saved 2 points

Luka has to go to the locker room- something with the hamstring area it seems. Hopefully it's not too serious but doesn't seem like he will be back this game.

Look at Embiid flop. That Ayton foul actually saved 3 points.

That's tough having LaRavia guard Embiid- might as well put Smart on him

Worked that time as LaRavia able to tap it away. Vando is in now for LaRavia.

Lebron the good look to Vando for 2, now the the accerlation on the break for the and 1. 5 point game!

Apparently Luka has "leg soreness" so thankfully it's not too serious it seems.

Wild scramble for the ball started by LaRavia's steal, and Rui cans the corner triple. 2 point game!

Reaves from waaaaaaay downtown- booom to beat the shot clock! Lakers LEAD 88-87. Now he hits another Luka-like triple.

MVP chants for AR as he drills 2 FTs to put the Lakers up 6

Kleber has been big, especially the hustle getting his team extra possessions. Now AR and Lebron bang in the final nails in Sixers coffin. What a turnaround, and what a win without Luka in the second half.

Hmmm getting a bit scary actually as Smart only makes 1 of 2 FTs, lead is only 4 now, 34 ticks left.

2 point game as Maxey floats it in over Kleber, but Rui the dunk underneath and that's game!

Wow! what a finish for the Lakers. Lucky to pull this off. Reaves was all super star player tonight. LeBron turned the ball over so many times that it almost cost the game for the Lakers.

Luka got frustrated with his game where he could do nothing in the scoring, so he went to the locker room with tired legs according to announcers. I notice that he can not take pressure very well. Starts making faces right away like if he is in pain. OH Well! hope he over comes that.

Highlights from the game:

Reaves is the real superstar on this team...

Just imagine if the Lakers kept Reaves at PG and received a haul for trading Luka in trades.

The Lakers would be a number one contender for years...

The same would not be true if the Lakers kept Luka and traded Reaves.

I'm not suggesting they ought to do this but it's a matter of perspective. True effectiveness vs perceived effectiveness places Reaves above Luka imo but the hype around Luka does not see things that way.

Luka has the ability to do what Kobe could do which is to change the pace of the entire game to suit himself. This is how they control outcomes and stand apart. Reaves controls with a Superman BB IQ and skills that do not rely upon controlling the pace of the game. He adjusts to the pace of the game as part of his contextual IQ package.

If a decision had to be made, and keep in mind that Reaves' name is included in a Giannis trade this Summer which is ludicrous, I'd keep Reaves for these reasons. Giannis replaces LeBron, not any other core players!

Good win. Bummed about Luka though. Seems like we get someone back from an injury and immediately lose another. Hopefully he isn't out for too long, although he is likely to miss the Warriors game and I hate losing to that team.
