According to ESPN Ty Lue and JJ Reddick are primary targets for the lakers Head coaching gig.
Personally, I would prefer JJ Reddick, or elevate Phil Handy for the position.

I don't think it matters who the coach, until they realize the Lebron/Davis era is over, we'll still have the same results next season. And hearing the latest Jeanie had to say regarding keeping Lebron, we'll look the same next season.
Not surprised Ham was fired but surprised that Jeanie is giving a 39yr old player this type of power. Makes no sense.
I’m sorry, maybe I’m missing something. Ty Lue is coaching the Clippers? What would entice him to leave that gig?
He gone…
Lmao.
I’m surprised they are not looking at Rondo. This is one dude who wouldn’t get jerked around by anyone including Lebron (if they decide to stay with him). I don’t think he gets too much of credit for his basketball acumen, due to some of the other extra curricular activities he was involved in.
They are clearing out the entire assistant coaching staff as well. I really hope they retain Handy.
It will be Redick. Talk about a shyt show waiting to happen as if this wasn't already a shyt show.
Bringing in Rookie Coaches is not a good idea.
With Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson out there, seems like a no brainer what to do next...
Someone has to have the guts to tell LeBron no, that is if he does not bail for Cleveland.
I think he will use the head coach selection as a major criteria regarding what to do next, so, LeBron will be choosing the coach right?

Apparently I'm stuttering...
Exactly...
Jeannie does what she is told.
On a positive note, the Lakers would have gone further with competent coaching.
Ham is a specialist coach who turned stupid in critical situations.
You could see him frozen in uncertainty on the sideline far too often.
The young head coaches who were guards all seem to have the same problem, they favor their own position and overlook the critical details involving power forewards and centers.
Perfect example is Steve Kerr and then there's Jason Kidd.
I assume JJ Redick and Rondo might be the same.
The big guys tend to know the game better because they are always reacting to the activity of the guards, case in point, Phil Jackson.
Maybe some stats guy has done a study on this?
If my theory is true though, Jeff Van Gundy ought to be coaching Smurfs and not basketball players...
Rest of Ham's staff also fired. Seems like an experienced HC is the preference. Jason Kidd's name being thrown in there as well in addition to Ty Lue & Redick.

Yes. I was thinking Jeff Van Gundy or Mark Jackson. Wtf is Reddicks name even being mentioned? He's never coached a game in his life. It's gotta be Ty Lou, Jeff, Mark, or Budenholzer. I pray they don't hire somebody with zero experience. It's the Lakers for heavens sake.
Lol....Now you know why JJ is being mentioned. Take a good guess.
It won't be Mark Jackson. For some reason he's been whiteballed.
It’s probably time to take a close look at Rob as well. Not quite sure about what he’s trying to accomplish post the 2020 title. Fwiw the ex GM of GSW (Bob Myers) could be a great replacement.
The 1st thing she needs to do is get rid of Linda and her husband Kurt. Then go beg Jerry West and pay him whatever he wants. Even though she's not her father, her father should've never let Jerry go PERIOD.
Every time I see young teams like OKC, Minny, etc, I can't help but think of all the young talent we mortgaged for Davis. Look at Josh Hart with NY. I bet Kawhi wish he never forced the Clippers to trade SGA. There's a changing of the guard that's happening right before our eyes and holding on to a 40yr old and a plastic man ain't going to cut it.
Ty Lue is not leaving the Clippers. The owner of the Clippers has some dip pockets and is not going to let Lue get away to the Lakers. But even at that, I personally do not think Ty Lue is such a great coach anyways. They have given him the best players money can buy and the Clippers have not been contenders. They always get eliminated in the first two rounds. With the talent they have given Lue he should have won a championship already.
Not sure about Reddicks. He is another person who has not had any coaching experience, reminds me of when Nash became a coach, and he was terrible. Reddick is a good sports analyst's to comment on television programs, but that does not necessarily make him a good coach..
Maybe the Lakers should ask coach Krzyzewski if he wants to coach in the NBA. He was a very good college coach. But first of all the Lakers need to let LeBron go. He is hurting the team. We need some younger players, plus he wants several years in a new contract. That would be disaster for the Lakers because of his huge contract he is wanting.
I also think how good the Lakers would have been if they had not given up so much for AD. All those players are playing at a high level now, Ingram, Hart, plus four first round draft picks.
Ty Lue can't even lead clippers past first round.... always playoffs exit....
I rather see lakers take a HC chance on someone else
Lakers should sign hc to 2 year deal, even though they always ask for 5 yr.
Looks like the Lakers are going to sign Dan Hurley who coached U-Con basketball team.
They meet today to discuss the details. Lakers brass will all be there and plan to go all in, including a multi year deal and buying out UConn for 1.875 million. This doesn’t not mean he will take the job. He has mentioned that he wants to coach an NBA team, but the team we can offer him is a dumpster fire and we have had a bad track record with coaches since Phil Jackson. I am hoping that he takes what we offer him, but this could go either way. Let’s keep our fingers crossed because he is clearly the best option for our future and a post Lebron era.
According to most articles I’ve read, Hurley is to make his decision today regarding the Lakers astronomically high offer. If he takes the $100 million guaranteed deal, he would be the highest paid coach in the league. That says a lot about an individual who has never coached a day of NBA basketball in his life. If he declines it on the other hand, it says even more about how screwed up this franchise is. He has mentioned that he wants to coach an NBA team. We presented him an extremely reasonable deal considering his NBA experience, or lack there of. If he declines it and stays with UConn at a lower pay? Ouch…. That’s going of hurt. Let’s continue to keep our fingers crossed. I still think he is the best option for this team and our future.
Dan Hurley has turned down the Lakers offer of 70 million and will return to coach U-Con. I thought the Lakers were going to offer 100 mil.

Even at 100, he still would have declined. It’s not the money….. The Lakers have shot themselves in the foot in reference to having developed a terrible reputation regarding coaches. The job is toxic and no one wants it. Redick it is…
Jeanie needs to sale the team. She is not her father. I see no difference between her and Jim Buss only she got lucky and won a chip in the bubble. She runs the team like a mom and pop shop. Sale the team!!!!!!!!
Agreed. Sell the team. Not sure why MJ hasn’t purchased the team yet. Doesn’t he own the dodgers?
You guys talking about Michael Jordan? He used to own the Hornets, but he sold them for 3 billion dollars. I think Magic Johnson owns some shares of the Dodgers.
I do not think that MJ would be a good owner of the Lakers. He never did try to improve his Hornets before. Can not see why he would change. Not only that, but the Lakers have different minority owners: Todd Boehl, Mark Walter, 27%, Ed Roski Jr. minority owner 3% and Patrick Soon-Shiong 4.50% and the majority owners are the Buss family with 66%.

I’m sorry. I know that was going to happen too. Magic Johnson..
Monty Williams would make a good head coach. He is experienced and was a good coach while in Phoenix. Was not as successful with the Pistons, but a coach can only do so much with what he is given. Pistons need a lot of players.
From what I’ve read, he’s not ready to jump onboard with another team for a HC position as of right now. Pistons, on the other hand, have interest in JJ Redick and he is most likely going to interview. This is all a power play and he SHOULD have no power, considering that HE HAS NEVER COACHED A GAME OF BASKETBALL IN HIS LIFE!!! This coaching search has turned into a reality TV show. If Redick pulls this **** to jack up our offer, he can kiss my a**.
Yea! I agree. Why would Ty Lue leave a good job he has with the Clippers. He knows the Clippers owner has very deep pockets and is willing to pay for good players. But that is the thing that bothers me about Ty Lue. They have given him championship caliber players and he has not excelled. He has gotten eliminated right away in the playoffs. So in my opinion it raises a red flag as to what is going on here. So I am surprised Steve Ballmer has not fired him.
