Lakers - Houston Trade Idea

Lakers Forum » Lakers General Discussions

So we have all heard about the possibility of Westbrook for Wall trade, which I am all for if that's all it was, but Houston it trying to get our 2027 1st round pick, which I say is a no go. Nobody is going to give a 1st round pick for a flyer on Wall.

I did read an article today that proposed this trade, which I really really like.

Lakers get:

Wall

Eric Gordon

Houston get:

Westbrook

THT

2027 1st round pick

Gordon is only averaging 15 a game this year, but his percentages are his best ever. 50% from the field and 45% from 3pt on 5 attempts per game. **This is with the assumption that we are not getting Jerami Grant, by using THT and 2027 1st. I like THT, but I do not think he will be our 2nd star next to AD, so I'm good with moving him to make us better this year.

That 2027 pick could be crazy valuable since Lebron will be gone by then, but the Lakers don't play by the same rules as the most of the NBA. We play to win a ring on a year by year bases, not some 5 year plan hoping a pick turns into an all-star. Because in reality even when you picks do hit, doesn't mean you win the Title. Example: OKC they hit the lottery 3 times with Durant/Westbrook/Harden and they never won. Look at the Celtics right now, Tatum and Jaylen are studs, but they are not winning any time soon.

I like this trade and I hope it happens, we pick up a great 3pt shorter and we get rid of Westbrook, which instantly helps our shooting and turnovers. If we had Gordon instead of Westbrook this entire year, we would be ranked 4th in 3pt% (38.6%), instead of 15th.

If they want to do a 1 for 1 or 2 for 2 is ok with me but I ain't giving them no 1st rd pick. I'll give them a 2nd rd pick at worst but hey that's just me. I get tired of teams trying to rake the Lakers over the coals when they don't do it to any of the other teams. BOS doesn't even get that treatment.

The only reason Houston will do this trade is to shaft the lakers. They will most likely assign Russ to the bench, like they did with Wall for the rest of the season. They have no use for him on the team, the only motivation they have is to extract an obscene amount of loot from a desperate lakers organization.

Plus you are trading for the unknown, since we haven’t really seen him play in over a year. He had a season ending heel injury followed by a devastating Achilles injury, while off the court. These are all red flags for me personally.

I will take my chances with Russ. And if he can sustain what he did in the last few games, we should be in a decent place once we get back everyone healthy.

Strange as it may seem but Curry has a worse FG% than Russ this season. Lmfao.

I’ve also read about a D’Angelo/Beverley trade for Russ. Not sure how I feel about that one either. I’m with you MAGIC, stick with this until something better rolls around.

The problem is Rob seems to have developed old Jim Buss and Cupcake way of thinking. If they fire Vogel, might as well send Rob with him.

Wall working out in Miami and, “Looks healthier than he has looked in a long time.” Seems to be something going on. Rockets plan to buy out Westbrook if the trade goes down. I’m sticking with it, they should hold off.

Yaeh I like his mojo. All for keeping him. As for Russ going back to Houston? Man what roller coaster. I wonder if he has a no trade clause. Esp back there. And they would buy him out? That's a lot of dough. Wall has had a bunch oh recent injuries. Could be a good gamble to take, might not be. Tough call. Grant would be my preference.

There's also Sac looking to move Barnes and Heild.

So we are in 8th in the W. CHI is in 2nd in the East. Who do they have? Ball and Caruso, McKinnie, and DeRozan, who we should have right now. Ex Lakers spread around the league are helping teams win... Just sayn'...

Glad they took care of Stanley. Just keep the team as is. Either they figure it out or not.

Well the Lakers really wanted Jeremi Grant but he refused to come to the Lakers and his excuse was that he did not want to play with LeBron and AD. He claimed he is a super star where he is at and that coming to the Lakers he would be third fiddle behind AD and LeBron. So it said the Lakers gave up on him which is too bad because Jeremi Grant is a great player.

I still think the Lakers need to get rid of the turn over king. Westbrook.
