DeAndre Jordan to the Lakers if Bought Out [*]

Lakers Forum » Lakers General Discussions

Despite the impressive free agent choices by Lakers' front office once again, they are equally unimpressive regarding the center position.

Replacing Dwight because he shoots foulshots over the barn on occasion, with DeAndre, whose foulshots fail to reach the barn on occasion, makes zero sense with playoff basketball in mind.

At the same time, if bought out, Rondo could be back, which I feel is a good move, but no doubt baffling to Dudley given the youth argument. See the confusion?

Given the luxury tax problem, I suppose paying $2M plus taxes for a big brother type guidance counselor in one Jared Dudley Do-Right, probably looks bad on paper, but Dwight and DeAndre are a paraplegic wrecking crew from the foulline who will weaken the team on the offensive end even if justified by the vet minimums! Rumor also has it that they are seeking to dump Gasol but how is Jordan a better choice than Gasol given Dwight and the foulshot issues mentioned? Boogie Cousins is clearly the best choice other than perhaps a hidden gem named Isaiah Hartenstein who played with Westbrook in Houston.

Clearly there's confusion regarding the 5 and significant uncertainty regarding the last two positions. The rumors ought to be called Bad Ideas mostly.

I hope they are not consulting Magic whose advice and decisions set the team back several seasons with his terrible decision making regarding trades and letting players go.

There's a reason he's being bought out, and was traded in the first place. Our team was already one of the worst ft shootings teams last season. Let's not make it any worse pls.

I agree, Cousins is the only real choice atm. Since it looks like Isaiah Hartenstein is heading to the Nets. Lakers want to get younger, but there's no one 'younger' left on the board. Reddick is another good option. And another older player.

Maybe they can get younger next year.

Lakers don't really need jordan. He should play buddy ball with his nets. Cousins seems a good choice but he and lebron had a little shuffle in houston so lebron probably don't want him lol

Nah I think 'ol LBJ likes when guys stand up to him. Within reason. Esp when there's a chance to win.

He knows he'll never tie or pass Kobe or MJ for titles. But I'm sure he'd like another 1 or 2...

Besides Rondo has had dust ups with Russ, and he's on the team now. Past is past.

Gonna be a lot of energetic lob dunks and emphatic blocks. DeAndre is on the decline but he should take on the role of a Javale McGee that the Lakers missed last season.

He's 33. Not too old. Hopefully he's still got some hops.

Btw we tried another Clippers cast off last season. Didn't go so well. Hopefully this will.

The good thing is that Rondo can get you the ball in the right spots.

So can Russ, I hope. We haven't forgotten he's our PG right? Lol

Monk, Nunn, THT and perhaps one or two of the G Leaguers can spell the starters. Melo and Ariza at 10-20 mpg will also spell the starters, so the pressure is on Vogel to manage time well and there will be no problem at all.

AD is 28 and Ellington, Bazemore, Westbrook and Rondo are in their latter prime years and can still run all day. All of this talk is whether LeBron is gonna keep up and the fact is that he no longer needs to. Reduce his minutes by say 5 mpg and this team will dominate.

The problem I see is minutes distribution and protecting individual players from getting frustrated. Gasol in particular...

AD publicly stated that he only received one lob pass from Shroeder all of last season... Is that true? If so, no wonder the Lakers let him go after foolishly offering him a truckload.

I like a cple of our 2 way, and whatever the other thing is, signings. I know you liked a cple also sky. Hoping one of them makes the squad. Or 2 if Gasoft leaves. And let's hope he does. Otherwise we'll have to just play slow ball, with no shot blocking. Since he spends most of his time on the perimeter. Usually that's a sign of a guy who doesn't want to bang anymore and risk injury. If he was a money shooter like Dirk, I'd be ok with it, but he's certainly not that. Tho he can make a few no and then. It's not enough to count as a real contribution. He never won any games for us, let's put it that way.

I never liked the idea of signing him, before we signed him. He's a problem child. He got dat ($100 mill) Euro attitude lol. How did that work out for you Dennis? Ha! Thank goodness he turned us down. What a disaster that would have been. After a season or 2 we'd have had to trade or stretch him. Meanwhile live with a moody, ineffective PG. Don't need those kinda problems. Been there done that already. More than once.

As debates swirl over who the best team in the NBA is, Jalen Rose said the Lakers are No. 1 on ESPN’s “Jalen & Jacoby”: “Now all I see is the best team in basketball…Malik Monk, 40% 3-point shooting, Kendrick Nunn, 40% 3-point shooting, both of those guys are amazing heat-check players. That’s going to give them their youth. Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double with the Wizards last year. The Lakers, in my opinion, are the clear-cut best team in basketball. If they stay healthy, LeBron James is getting another ring this year.”

Nope. I was thinking playoffs.

I was never a fan of Mark or Pau Gasol. They seem to rely upon intellect and size rather than making a concerted effort to be professional athletes. The irony of Mark being a defensive master given Pau's tendency to allow guards to make layups in his face is underwhelming.

Is Wes Matthews still on the team? In top form if he still has it, he's on par with Ellington and Bazemore. This team has a lot of depth. Perhaps too much, unmanagable depth. I figure that's why they passed on Isaiah Thomas. There was a week gap between his tryout and Rondo's buyout. He would be been frustrated and lost on the end of the bench.

Regarding the G League guys, they each have upside.

McClung brings defense and fierce energy, Ayayi brings fundamentals, decent passing and shooting and brilliant movement without the ball, Brown is a sleeper because he's a very good 3-point shooter with exceptional perimiter defense and most are high on Reaves for reasons I cannot see.

No Wes is not on the team. Seems they weren't interested. Tho he hussled and played good D, his shot never got going.

We are still talking like Jordan is already on the team. I haven't read a single article mentioning that he has "officially" signed.
