Reporting w/ @wojespn: The Lakers received permission from Golden State to talk to assistant Ron Adams about a role on Frank Vogel's staff, league sources tell ESPN. It’s unclear Adams' level of interest but Lakers could make case more compelling with significant financial offer.

When it comes to defensive assistant coaches, Ron Adams is the next best thing after Tom Thibodeau.

If we could get him that will be really great:

You have:

Lionel,Vogel,Kidd & Him

Right now the Lakers website is showing Lionel Hollins and Jason Kidd as asst coaches. Is that right? And if they get the guy from GSW. Wow...

At least Shaw and the others are finally 86'd outta here. About time.

Cool Beans....

Awesome sauce lol...

Last year we had the Meme Team, I get the feeling that this year we’re getting the coach version of that. These are big names but Both Kidd and Hollins are VERY old school and one or both are willing to backstab their way into the top. Kidd and Hollins both had some fans in the FO for the head coaching situation, we ended up with Vogel but they decided to force these guys into the assistant coach positions anyway. Am I the only one who sees an issue with this?

Big names, sure. But no Bucks, Nets, or Grizzlies fan misses them for a reason, and having every favored candidate be hired in some capacity makes it that much worse. One guy wanted Hollins, another guy liked Kidd, we somehow end up with Vogel but get the other two anyway.

It is a bit odd. But Mike Brown is head asst in GS and no team misses him either. Maybe they just wanted to hire all the potential coaches they could find, so that if Vogel doesn't work out, they can promote from within lol.
