Rajan Rondo to Lakers
Lakers Forum » Lakers General DiscussionsThis is a Boss move.
Ball is getting traded I think. Lol
Wow. In 2010, probably the two most hated players by Lakers fans could’ve easily been LeBron and Rondo. Now we have them both.
As long as this is just a veterans minimum deal, I’m fine with it.
Is 9 million good you guys think for him?
Wouldn’t be surprised they pair Rondo with Cousins.
I wonder if maybe Lonzo might be leaving in a 3 team trade for Kwahi? Since spurs don't want Lonzo, whatever 3rd team would give Spurs the piece(s) they want and they would get Lonzo?
Dunno, just speculating out loud
For sure, I don't mind the move at all.
The space we got from moving Randle, could allow us to sign both Rondo and Evans.
I'm just excited we are making moves.
We had 6.5 million in cap space before he let Randle go. SO letting him go gave almost 19 million. So as of this moment we got another 10 million in cap space, unless we do something with Deng.
10 million in cap space goes a long way for players signing cheap, looking to join Lakers now.
Whoever posted this was super fast by the way aha
I highly doubt the Lakers are replacing Lonzo with an older Rondo on a 1-year deal, unless they plan to trade for Kemba.I would prefer Lonzo remain untouched.
I wanted him last year as a back up - we have a goon squad now with him and Lance - we just got tougher - if we get boogie nobody is pushing us around
This would've been a great move!... 8 years ago.
My fear is that the signing of Rondo could mean Lonzo may be on the way out. Just me thinking out loud. I mean they did tell him he can compete for the starting job so depending on how you take that, it could me he wants Rondo to win the starting job. I was also thinking this signing may be a message to LaVar Ball to back off or trying to light a fire under Lonzo. I don't know maybe I'm overthinking this.
Rondo was the #23 ranked free agent and we paid more for him that what Randle signed for and he was ranked #9. How did we mess this up so badly?
1) we paid the same, not more (9 million)
2) from what I can tell, Julius did not want a one year contract. Seems to be a curious move on his part. We could have paid him 12 million for one year but he essentially took 3 million less as I am sure he will opt out after next year and become an UFA.
You're probably wrong. Like almost every player he was unhappy because the FO treated him like S*** and most importantly didn't pay him. They offered him a 1 year $5.5m deal. Of course he'd want out after that!

We didn't offer him $12M. That was just his cap hold. We offered him $5.5M. Basically a slap in the face.
I think Randle could have been signed. Players want you to show them the love and then show them the money. I not sure the Lakers showed him either. So we signed lesser players instead. What has Rondo done lately that would make us want to show him the love and 9 Mil?
21 assists in a playoff game ..... (I think against the Warriors.)
I would have offered him more than what they offered Rajon, but I don't run the show man. If you review previous posts of mine, which I am sure you will not, you would see that one of my primary concerns was watching Randle walk. To me it seemed as if no matter what we offered him, he was going to sign with someone else anyway. I think he was concerned with what his new role would have been.
Not that it matter anymore, he's not on Lakers. But it will be interesting to see if he still looks good on playoff team or looks like Clarkson and Nance on Cavs, trash!!!
I think any word of him being concerned with his role really meant concerned with his contract. That's just my opinion.
It really depends on the situation in which he's provided. We already know he can play. But if they don't value him, there's a chance he won't thrive.
Agree, but Cavs gave Clarkson and Nance plenty opportunities and they sucked. Randle is a lot better than them, but I'm just curious to see how he does. Been plenty for players that have looked good on bad teams, than find out they're just mediocre on playoff teams.
Think Randle will be fine, especially if he can start hitting from outside.
Well I'll definitely be watching to see how Randle and AD fit together. Rondo would've worked well with Randle but he's a Laker now. So I guess it'll be interesting to how Holiday can distribute that ball to them.
Yeah, I wish him the best. Hope that duo works out well.
Kkennon, there's a lot more than just opportunity, that's why I said situation. Those guys played with James. I put that on him that everyone they got all of a sudden forgot how to play basketball. Who knows, Randle and AD may be a bad fit. Hope not, they could be fun to watch.
Rondo's name is spelled wrong

Good eye JJ....lol.
Once they throw that $250 Mil in his face, he'll be fine....lol.
Love rondo coming. Dude is a dog and will do whatever it takes to win. Can assist for days
