The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to trade Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and their own 2018 first round pick.

Clarkson is owed $12.5 million in 18-19 and $13.4 million in 19-20.

Clarkson is averaging 14.6 points in 23.7 minutes per game this season for the Lakers.

One man’s garbage is another man’s trash. Speaking about IT. Damaged goods playing for the brinks truck. Locker room cancer. They were quite desperate to get rid off him.

But the pick is quite awesome. Nance had become expendable/redundant on this team.

Not too sure about JC. Still processing that part. We do need a bench and not sure IT would settle for that role.

Is there any protection on pick, in case Cavs suck ???

Love it...a protected first round pick of top 3 probably...salary dump...Nice

Hopefully you give the other rookie Bryant more burn Luke!!!!!!

Good trade for both teams

Also root for Cavs to lose all games from this point for us. Lmao!!

They can also attach that pick for a Dung dump.

Not the biggest deal in the world, but what a horrible trade. We're just dumping Clarkson, one of our best players for a protected pick and a chance to chase stars. Guess now we really will need to get George in the offseason!

Lmao!!!!!...I know that's right MAGIC.

Would much rather see Zubac get some time.

Absolutely. Just heard Winhorst say the exact same thing.

Zubac just doesn't have that dog in him for some reason IMO. Bryant definitely does given the opportunity.

Agree but still don’t think that would entice a team to take on that horrible contract

Good luck to Jordan and Larry. Definitely going to miss them but business is business. I don't think either of them were really going to be a part of our future anyway. Seems like a good trade to me since IT and Frye are on an expiring contracts.

I think this is a GREAT trade for the Lakers. Salary dump, and a great return for Clarkson and Nance. Just remember how great IT was last year.

I like Frye though who can stretch the floor & solid veteran. For IT he will be off the bench for sure playing 6th man.

Just remember how bad he's been this season.

Well, definitely tough to lose JC & LarryDN, but this enables the team to make a splash in free agency, and the first round pick is nice. Not sure what the strategy going forward is for this season, however- keep winning or revert to tanking? Short term, the move hurts the team's chances of winning as Isaiah Thomas is just going keep chucking and bricking, while Clarkson was doing very well.

Lmao !!! It's not Nets pick, it's Cavs pick.

Larry was redundant at his position,JC know will be gone with the emergence of Josh Hart. IT will be gone this season IMO. I like to keep Frue going forward, locker room guy who could hit big time shots

That is exactly my concern Dave. He’s playing in a contract year and chucking like a mad man. Lol. He was a huge locker room poison and calling players out and throwing them under the bus along with the coach.

He has the worst net defensive rating since 1998. There has not been anyone worse in the last 20 years.

Jc was liked by teammates, kept things loose and had improved significantly this year.

They can always send him home for the remainder of the season...lol.

That fatso is just a big gasbag.

They should send him to Dungman’s secret hideout. Lol

I don't know about the Lakers, but the Cavs killed it today. They got younger (Nance, Hood, and JC) and a better point guard for them (Hill) and did not lose the Brooklyn Pick. WOW!

This is great trade I think. I really do think IT just needs a change from Cavs, some rooster just don't work out. Not saying he is going to give us 25ppg a game. I do think IT will be coming off the bench when Lonzo returns, but he will come off the bench like Eric Gordon comes off the bench.

Nance has fallen out of Lakers rotation anyways. We have 3 guys ahead of him and our top 2 FA we want this summer, play the same 3/4 spots.

Clarkson is a great bench player, but I feel IT 100% can put up the same numbers as Clarkson and IT is a better passer.

We get a first round pick, that is probably only lottery protected, just in case the Cavs have injuries or something and they fall. Since the Cavs don't know if Lebron will be back next year, they should want the pick to be used this year. Because if he does leave this summer, they will suck going forward making that pick worth more and more.

Also, if by chance 2 top FA say lets come to Lakers, we don't have to depend on any other team to help make it happen, we can do it by ourselves. And if no one comes, then we still in the same position minus Clarkson.

Worse case we gave up Clarkson for a 20-25 pick, 1st picks are hard to come by. Bulls had to give up Mirotic and take on Asik salary to get a first.

Yeah , but if FO was trying to clear space, than they did their job very well. Even though we might not like it.

On another note, heard woj say this pick could have so much protection it might not convey till next year. But he doesn't know yet...smh

kkennon1 wrote:

Yeah...BUT it is PROTECTED... probably top 3. Hopefully the pick will end up being below 20.

Man Cavs are in beast mode. They just reconstructed their entire roster.

It's probably more like top 23 protected. Why would Cleveland put a top 3 protection on it.

Pick is indeed only top 3 protected. Most likely just in case something bad happens. Maybe Lebron gets injured this year and Cavs drop into lottery and pick falls top 3. 99.999% likely we get their pick this year.

I have never heard of a top 23 protected....Have you heard of that before? Has anyone seen that?

IT’s agent just tweeted Rachel Nichols of ESPN the jump that his client would “not come off the bench.”

Shots fired already and he’s still sitting in Cleveland. Lmao!!!

For sure Magic. JC's contract wasn't too bad either, and a future first round pick- it's against the odds that a player as good as JC would become of it. But I guess the main thing is clearing out cap space. Time will tell if this trade pays off in the offseason.

Will he accept stay at home !!! Lol

Looks like he's still hurt about getting traded from Boston.

Good trade for lakers. We all know lakers going nowhere with clarkson and larry. But both players are hard workers, good bench players. Lakers free up cap and also got first round pick.

Little man IT have huge emotional problems.. lmao

I don't see how ball and IT will work out for the lakers. Both are Pg's. IT won't come off the bench. Lakers planning to develop Lonzo. So IT + dung trade in progress?!

Wouldn't let him anywhere near looker room.

I think Lakers are really going to try and see how Lonzo and IT work together. If it sucks, then they let IT walk.

Then we still got cap relief and a 1st round pick for Clarkson and Nance that lost his rotation anyways.

Worse case this is good deal.

Best case IT returns to Celtics form and him and Lonzo mess amazingly.

Tracy Mcgrady and other ex players just called IT damaged goods. Guys are hoping they are getting the Boston IT. We are getting the Cavs IT who has put up worst numbers in his career. He’s the worst defensive rated player in the last 20 yrs. Those who feel he will play alongside our youngesters are smoking something really nice and exotic, I need some of that stuff too. Lol.

He is playing for the brinks truck....to hell with team concept. Take a lesson from what happened in Cleveland. If the greatest player on the planet had issues to reign him in, good luck to your young boys and Luke.

kkennon1 wrote:

Exactly. This clown had the audacity to call out senior players like Love and the coaches. His agent has already made it clear he wouldn’t come off the bench. Wtf??? Dictating terms to the lakers even before boarding a flight to LAX!!
