The Quintuple Double: Is It Do-able?

Lakers Forum » Lakers General Discussions

Zo's stat line was: 19 points & 13 assists & 12 rebounds & 3 steals & 4 blocks. It was the youngest triple-double in NBA history.

Do you think anybody could ever get a "quintuple double": doubles in five categories? Zo would have needed 7 more steals and 6 more blocks to get the quint!.

I do not think it has ever been done. EDIT: Apparently I was wrong. See my latest post -- WILT CHAMBERLAIN (who else) had the only Quintuple Double in history!

Is it do-able? Will it be done by Zo? What do you think?

NO!!!!!!!!!!

David Robinson logged 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks in a game against the Pistons back in 1994. Will it happen by Ball? I don't think so. Last night will probably not happen again.

Disagree, he'll probably have a lot more triple doubles.

I don't see that happening Baad but hey, anything's possible.

At my buddy’s farewell party in Vegas last year, a few of us recorded a quintuple double. 5 double shots that is...LMAO!!!

Not to diminish The Admiral's achievement, but notice his quad was barely made -- three of the quad were tens. No room for error. Of course, he did score 34 points within the quad which is amazing.

Zo does not have to score on that level so Triples could be kinda commonplace. They were even in the Summer League.

Against a real sloppy team, he could have ten steals. So a quad is not out of the question. But a quint? That has only been done once by -- who else - WILT!

On March 18th 1968 Wilt Chamberlain got the only quintuple double in NBA history. He had a stat line of 53 points 32 rebounds 16 assists 24 blocks and 11 steals!

Now THAT is a stat line! (Although assists were not official back then, there were scorers who kept the stats for each game including assists.)

Yeah! He's obviously going to have a ton of triple doubles in his career. I don't know what that guy is talking about.

Agree. His second game in the big league he was an assist (WIDE open three by Ingram) away from being the only 19 year old player to record a triple double, 29/12/9 or something along those lines? shrug

Am I not entitled to an opinion? Maybe I don't see the level of talent that you see. His shooting is absolutely dismal and I cringe when he shoots. I understand that you are probably very young and don't think that there is anyone else out there than can have an opinion different from your own. You will grow up at one point.

What hell are you talking about? Me responding to my good buddy MAGIC has nothing to do with you. Wasn't even thinking about you. You wouldn't know that because you haven't been on this forum long enough to know that. Stop over analyzing.

Really,?!?! I've been on this forum for 10 years. I don't typically post because I have to deal with **** doushebags. Only reason I come on here is to see trending laker rumors.

Also, my comment was directed towards JJCali. Not you.

Obviously you responded to the wrong poster so I'll let you and JJCali duke it out.

Wow, what the Hell was that about!!! Lmao

I have no clue.....lol.

How did a simple trail about "quintuple doubles" turn into a trash talk convention?

This is what I meant to quote earlier. Not userpete. Sorry for the confusion.

For a second I thought there was a beef with celebration emojis. Lmao!!

Please post without trolling with stuff like "You will grow up at one point". That is against the site rules. Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

As far as the topic at hand- I'd bet Lonzo will have at least 3 or 4 more triple doubles this season. So far he certainly seems a lot like a Jason Kidd. J-Kidd really improved his 3 point % later in his career, and with Ball I wouldn't doubt his 3 pt % will steadily improve as well. He might eventually have to change his shooting motion a bit, however.

Lavar will make sure his 3 point shooting improves! LOL

I have been harping on this for such a long time. They need to sign Lavar. Lmao

Do you think he’s secretly running player development?

I never said you weren't entitled to an opinion. I am not young either so like everyone else, not sure what your reaction was all about. Sorry if my choice of wording was slightly harsh. Didn't mean to offend. But he's been flirting with triple doubles and is now the youngest to ever do so. So yes, I don't get what you're talking about. That's just me.

Again, sorry if I offended you.

That took a quick turn! Actually pretty funny to read considering the confusion, the responses and the warning that followed.

It was your pompous self entitled response to a comment I wrote because I don't see the level of talent in Lonzo Ball that some here on this forum see. Do I know if he is going to pull consistent triple doubles or at one point get a quadruple double? I don't know. I am sure that I speak for everyone here when I say that I sure as hell hope so. I have been a Lakers fan since the early 80s. I want nothing more than to see them succeed. At this point, breaking .500 would be worth a huge celebration. If I came off as a dick, I apologize. This exactly why I have sent 5 posts collectively over nearly a 10 year span.
