Lakers Sign Alex Caruso

Lakers sign Alex Caruso to a 2 year two way deal. Which means he will be bouncing back and forth from the G- League and NBA to play for us and help him develop further! Welcome to the team!!

Is the deal guaranteed for the second year?

Well I think I understand the two way contracts pretty well but someone can correct me if I'm wrong...but my understanding of the two way contracts is it can only go to someone with 4 years or less of experience and they can only play no more than 45 games in a season for the NBA team they are signed by...I'm pretty sure they don't count against the salary cap. I'm pretty sure how their salary works is they get the G-League salary which is $75,000. Their NBA salary depends on how many games they play for the NBA team they are signed by. They get paid on a game to game basis on a rookie scale amount...so if I understand it correctly they can only make a little over $200,000 a year from NBA money if they were called up for all of the 45 games they are allowed to on top of their $75,000 G-league money. So roughly a little less than $300,000 a year if they play the 45 games in the NBA. So really there's nothing guaranteed money for them just depends on if the lakers use them or not otherwise they will be playing and deleoping with their G-league affiliate team...hopefully I didn't make that too confusing

It's 45 days not 45 games isn't it? If they are called up to the roster they get paid regardless if they play in a game or not. That's my understanding of it.
