Rumor: Lamar Odom Interested in Joining Coaching Staff

I just said that when they got Walton and Shaw and Madsen, that the coaching staff is starting to look like a team of ex Lakers. I thought they were putting it together to have a practice squad lol. That all said, Odom just now got into and out of Rehab? For 35 days? Damn I think he should stay there for like a year! Seriously. A month will not fix what's wrong with that man. Hopefully he'll at least keep doing the work outside.

And btw if I ever don't want to hire someone for a job...my answer to the question would be...we'll see lol. Just sayin'. The reporter has that damn Cali optimism sickness, assuming the positive about a remark that rarely is.

As I have also said before, I think it's ridiculous the Lakers as an organization are so incapable of looking very far outside their own ranks for coaches and vet players. They keep recycling the same pple who've had anything to do with this team. Let's get Glen Rice and Ron Harper to coach while we're at it. I don't know any other organization that does like that. It's as tho they don't get along with anyone other than themselves and their little club, and are afraid of outsiders. Silly....

Sure, eventually. When/if they're ready. Lamar was years deep into drug issues, and a lifetime of emotional stuff. It will take time. There's no rush for coaching. He's still young. Besides, can he coach? What are his qualifications? has he got the right temperament? Can he resist all the temptations? Is he emotionally sound enough to handle the grind again? If so then they could think about it. But go forward cautiously. I'd ask him to be an intern for a while. It's not like he needs the money. Work him into it. Check him out. See what he has to bring. Being able to play (and let's face it he was a great player only when he wanted to be, not so much the rest of the time) is different form being able to teach. Have him do some scouting as well. Get to know the whole process. If he committed to that and learning and putting out the effort and showing he's a team guy, then I'd do it. But I wouldn't put him on a floor for a cple more years. That's just me. Isn't Chloe knocked up by another guy now? How is he with all that? I'd stipulate he not have any more contact with the Kardash evil b1tches. They don't 'need' him on the team. So it has be on the team's terms or not at all. Gotta not play Mr Nice guy or he'll leave a trail of ashes again. Time to grow up LO.

Throw in a third test as well: Drive him around Vegas /outskirts and if he doesn't halt in between to "check in" then it's all good.

Carter had all sorts of discipline issues. He tapped my girlfriend in college too but that didn’t help his career at all and no I did not give my girlfriend a second chance...dang hoe. LOL

Not so sure I can see L.O. as a coach. He lacks fire in his belly. He would never call a timeout. He would play 5 forwards at the same time. He would spike the gatoraid. He would allow Kardashians into the locker room. He would lock Mitch in his office and seal up the door. Hey, maybe that's not such a bad idea?

I think he needs the support of plenty of people around him and not being by himself. Hearing him during huddles kind of gives me the belief he wouldn't be a bad assistant coach. Hell, if Mark Madsen is still coaching with very little to offer then I think LO will be fine.

No one knows when is too soon. I mentioned Cris Carter earlier who was cut by the Eagles during training camp (summer) and was picked up by the Vikings in September and he was doing ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine and other stuff. He never had another problem after rehab and he turned his life around.
