Gilbert Arenas On What Makes Kobe Byrant Great

That's some great stuff right there. I remember when Agent Zero was on his game playing with the Wizards and he single handedly beat the Lakers. I mean Agent Zero and the Mamba were going at it. Not sure what year or the score but Kobe made the comments that Gilbert has no conscious, etc, etc. I guess he was trying somehow to get into Gilbert's head. Anyway, good stuff.
^^^ that was back around 2006 because I kept telling people at the gym that Kobe would get him back. Being that this is the DC area, people couldn't stop talking about Arenas that year. Kobe talked about Arenas having no conscience and taking terrible shots if they miss and if he hit them they're great shots. When I read what Kobe said I felt the irony was crazy because Kobe did that quite often and that was before Gasol arrived so Kobe was firing them up.
This is why I feel Kobe is separated from a lot of guys. His mental fortitude is way out there. There have been other guys who have been more athletic and just gifted with physical attributes that trumped Kobe. Kobe's greatness does come from within, it's a double-edged sword actually but that's where it comes from. Kobe puts in the work due to his mentality.
Guys like Wesley Johnson just don't have it mentally and it's why I'm not all that excited about him coming back. Sad to see physical gifts like that go to waste.
