Randy- it most likely is one of the add-ons because as you described, when you logged in after add-ons disabled, then restarted with addons disabled, it remembered you. That was the case, right?

Dave,

Well, I disabled the addons. It said, it would have to restart Firefox so I hit restart. When it restarted, I was sill logged in. But anytime I shut down Firefox and restarted it, I was not logged in again even with all addons and plugins disabled.

So the original problem has always remained. If I shut down my browser IE 9 or Firefox, when I bring it back up and go to LTB, I always have to log in again, whether all addons and plugins have been disabled or not.

sounds like your browser cookies, history are cleared when you close your browser or there's a problem with your browser settings or any of your softwares are clearing your history when you close your browser

Randy- when you hit restart with addons disabled, it shutsdown firefox and restarts it without any addon. So it's the same as if you shutdown firefox and restarted it manually. So like Dino says it has to be an addon you missed or a setting that is causing this.

Here's something I've just found that might help- maybe you have a corrupt cookies database:

Dave,

I read this link and it sure doesn't describe what I can see or do with Firefox. Some examples:

Option 2: It may be possible that you have set Firefox not to remember cookies and hence you are getting logged off each time you close the browser. Go to Tools -> Options -> Privacy and make sure that you unchecked "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox".. Nope.

There is no such box to check or uncheck. When I go there that option is not listed at all. All it says is, Tell websites I do not want to be tracked. Thats the only check box. There is no "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox".

Option 4: Close your Firefox browser and open the profiles folder " you can simply type "%APPDATA%MozillaFirefoxProfiles" in the Windows Run box and hit Enter. Double-click the profile folder (xxxxxxxx.default folder) and delete the cookies.sqllite file. Restart Firefox " this will recreate the cookie database and the browser should now be able to remember your login preferences. [via]

Once again, nope. When I type that in, nothing comes up. I don't know why these instructions don't work for me or why what should be there (according to the article) is not, but it isn't.

By the way, I'm using Mozilla Firefox 19.0.2 yahoo edition 1.12.

Im also now using a password remember program to log in, lol, that way I don't have to keep typing my log in. I just installed it today. I guess as they say, theres more than one way to skin a cat. Although Im not sure why someone would want to skin one in the first place. I can see wanting to skin (or doing some other choice things to it) a computer with all the sh*t that can go wrong with them, but a cat?

It will be interesting to see what any of the other disenfranchised members find from those instruction or if it helps them.

If any of you try them, please post the results.

Every time my computer shuts off, I now have to re-enter my name and password. And spelling MEDVEDENKO is a btich. Maybe I can change my password to VUJACIC. LOL!

I'm now having problems staying logged in. Ever since the windows update I did today.

I'm on windows 7 and using Internet explorer 10.

I checked a lot of stuff already on this thread. I checked add ons and if my cookies were being deleted upon exiting the browser.

Try clearing your cache- I had the same issue as well in the newest version of Firefox (19.0.2) but after I cleared the cache it looked just fine again.

As for the staying logged in issue- I'm still looking into it. I was able to duplicate the problem in a brand new install of Firefox in XP. But the weird thing is that in IE8 in XP I stayed logged in. And on Windows 8 for every browser I tried (Firefox, Chrome, IE, Opera, Safari) I had no problem having it keep me logged in. Puzzling, but I will keep investigating!

Thanks for the patience and persistence guys- I was really able to go after it when I was able to replicate the behavior in the Firefox/Windows XP combination. Ironically the bug was introduced because I was too aggressive with a setting to keep users logged in longer. I had set it for something like 25 years- which apparently some browsers did not take, lol.

Randy- whoa you have some hot girlfriends there! Smile

Dave, it was not just foxfire and win XP. I am using windows 7 and ie10 and it affected me. I am into my second day of use and it has remained solid. Problem solved, good job Dave.
