Debate Pit topics.

Lakers Forum » Locked Topics / Trash Bin

You guys can post debate topics on here you may wish to see debated by two members. Then if you and a friend, or you and another LTB member wish to get in the pit and debate that topic, just go ahead. Or post and say you want to debate that particular topic and ask if anyone wants to challenge you in the pit.

Here are a few topics right now if anyone wants to try them with another member:

Was it easier for Jordan to score under the old NBA rules or for Kobe to score under the current ones.

Would the Lakers have been ended up better if Minnesotta had accepted our offer of Drew and Lamar for Garnett or did they do us a favor by not accepting that deal?

If Pat Riley had had Phils teams, would he have won as many titles as the Zen Master?

If you guys have ideas on subjects you want to see debated, please post them in the pit.

Debate pit? I thought it was the Gladiator Pit?

Maybe we should enter and debate the name of the Pit.... What do you say?

John,

The debaters are the gladiators, lol.

I think SPQR and Laker_Joseph should be an exhibition match in the pit... Just for practice.....

Wouldnt I need a real opponent though? What would be the purpose of that exercise?

Now now Randal... Save that intensity for the pit. Like I said, it'll be an exhibition match... Remember Apollo Creed VS Ivan Drago? That was an exhibition match.... I say try it.

I think if memory serves, Apollo died in that exhibition, right? Are you trying to tell me something?

I am laughing too hard right now... Gimme a minute

Isn't that what gladiators do? You know, fight to the death.

If he dies, he dies.

ohh this sounds fun. and you gotta go gloves off so you can be faceitous.

if you guys go at it, i want the winner.

No volunteers yet?

Anyone gone into the pit yet????

No,

But I think two people should. One that says Pau is weak, the other who will support the contention that he is not, or has reasons to be.

Does anyone want to volunteer for each posit?

i'll argue about the garnett thing. i think had we landed him we'd be a better team now than we are. hard to get too in depth tho because who knows what players the lakers would of targeted.

I nominate the Mighty SPQR.

How 'Bout we start it like this: Just a theoretical, but Contracts willing -- who here would trade Blake Griffin for Pau straight up??? ...and why/why not???

I know what I would do, or wouldn't do -- but I ain't sayin' just yet.

if we could do it after the 3-peat this year... then yes

...Or -- How's this for Controversy: I say that Our Beloved & Wonderful Team, as a whole -- is somewhat of a "Head-Case" -- and they have been for years, God Love 'em.

Little or no CONSISTENT FOCUS (In-Game & From Game-to-Game), with barely any KILLER INSTINCT to speak of -- with Negligible FIRE, GRIT, SCRATCH, or CLAW. We win on PURE TALENT. One day, that REALITY just may come back to Haunt us -- as it almost did in Game 7 with Boston.

Anyone up for this one???

Agree, Or Disagree???

Darren,

Two great topics for debate. If any members want to take sides on these issues, or any others, debate them officially in the pit, and have a final voted resolution on the debate by LTB members, please come on here and say you would like to do so, and which side of the issue you want to be a proponent of in the debate against someone else.

I will then arrange the official debate along with the ground rules.

OK...I'll bite or get bitten.I agree that the team can be head cases and because we do have players that are gritty now,but don't get the time to display it due to starters that have been in place. In other words Barnes and Blake are to me; gritty and determined,BUT we keep getting Artest and Fisher out there.Gasol personally is OK,but just asked to be something he is not...a center. So since I'm at work and can't REALLY break this down,I will say I agree that they are HEAD CASES....now I wait for the debate and your approval/disapproval. Smile

Ok guys, lakerdudeinindy is gracious enough to accpet a pit challenge. He posits that the lakers are headcases. Anyone want to take him on with an opposing view? If so, say it here and I will arrange the official debate.

Gee, Randy I'm 100% with Indy on that one (Debate "Teams"???) -- and wouldn't it be ironically funny if we All agreed on this Headcase Issue???

Is it just me -- or have the Debates on the standard threads gotten a bit more tame since we established the "Debate Pit"???

Does "The Pit" now Stand Sentinel in the back of our collective mind???

Hmmmm... Just wondering.

lol,

Darren, there has been some very heated debate about Pau's play and his 'fatigue'. It would be a great topic to debate in the pit for all to watch and then vote on. It seems like nobody wants to venture in the pit, though.

I would think that John (lakerfrommass) and his comments and threads about Pau, and some of those who vehemently opposed his view would have been perfect candidates for a gladitorial pit match to the death over that very hot and contested issue.

Indy is the first LTB member willing to get in there as a debate gladiator and fight to the death.

Incidentally, would Phil Jackson be part and parcel of the head case brigade?

/ / /...

Phil???

If it weren't for Phil -- the insanity would be Downright Explosive. I postulate that he's the "Glue" that holds it all together. Without him, we just might be a .600 team -- and a second-round Exiter.

My main concern is that we're now losing games that last year we won. I certainly hope that this is a "Glitch" and not the emergence of a greater "Pattern", here.

I would say that Phil is both part and parcel to the brigade.More parcel at times.

The Lakers:

Phil:

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!That's classic!!!

Randy --

Your gift for Metaphor, by the written word, or, as in this case, By Photo --- literally knows no peer!!!

Darren, LakerdudeinIndy:

Thanks! Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, I suspect those two pictures pretty much encapsulate what is going on with the team, and Phil, without having to say a word.

lol...spqr = the new spankees

What actually happened to spankees?? He hasn't posted on game day thread in a long long time......

Is somebody gonna get in this MoFo? Or what?
