We should go trade for Jarrett Jack. The Raptors aren't doing anything and they need money to get Chris Bosh back this summer

Most of you are putting together intrawest deals. No one in the west is going to trade with the Lakers unless we are offering Lamar, Kobe, Pau or Drew. There may be someone in the East dumb enough to help us but even there we need to be very lucky. The only thing we have to offer is expiring contracts. No one will want the contracts of Sasha or Walton

however there are a lot of teams looking to cut salary this year. and a couple of solid pg's with pretty substantial contracts. that is why the expiring are of worth. calderon or hinrich would be a godsend. doubt we pull either of those off but i know mitch can do something to improve our current situation

I know it's a crazy idea, but what if the hornets come out and say they are shopping chris paul like people were saying could happen. Do you think the lakers could swing bringing paul to LA? I was thinking like giving up andrew bynum along with adam morrison, jordan farmar, all the first round picks they can give up, for like chris paul and peja. The hornets would get a real promising young center with all the potential in the world. They also get cap relief with the expiring contracts of farmar and morrison and getting rid of peja's big contract. It won't happen but that would be amazing if it did.

If that happened I think we'd be unbeatable. We already have the big men in Odom and Gasol and adding CP3 into that would be nuts. But no way that happens. Chris Paul is like the energy to that city it feels like. The salaries seem like they match up. Bynum has a big deal as does CP3

Not amazing. Stojakovic is toast, has been for a while. Essentially you trade Bynum and Farmar, and Morrison for Paul. The only reason to get Paul is if you want to change the entire offense, get rid of Phil Jackson, and all the Coaches, look around to make other changes in the Starters, just so that you can convert to a PG-oriented traditional offense. Other than that, personally, I am not ready to give up on Bynum in spite of his playing with his head up his butt lately. Yes, we need a ball-handling Guard that can shoot, but not a pure PG.

the lakers need a consistent 3 point shooter coming off the bench

i think we need a better backup small forward

gomes from timberwolves or selfosha from thunder

someone who can at least defend and shoot the 3

we need to get rid of vujabrick! and possibly morisson

I've always liked Jack.

I'd welcome him in a P&G jersey, in a heartbeat.

The Lakers "Bench Mob" has done nothing to help the Lakers all season.

In most games this season, and certainly in games lost, the bench has been outscored or blown out. At the end of most games, theyblow big leads piled up by the starters. Why not trade AMMO, a draft pick and/or cash for James Posey. Posey is a reliable shooter, something the bench doesnt have. Plus, Posey is a great defender, and we will be the undisputed best defense in the NBA. The Hornets will want the expiring contract, and they know that theyre not in title contending shape. After the trade, our depth chart will look like this.

PG:Fish/Farmar

SG:Kobe/Brown/The Broken Machine

SF:Artest/Posey/Walton

PF:Gasol/Odom

C:Bynum/DJ Mbenga

Walton will be our all purpose guy, we can use him with the starters or the bench. What do you guys think, the salaries work out.

It's not as easy as putting 1 and 2 together, you must account for other accounts that all GM's go through before making a trade, such as chemistry, payroll, and how well the player would fit in.

I'm not sure the Lakers would want to take on Posey's contract when we already have Walton at SF and we also have Shannon who can play SG, and whether you know it or not, they still thin Sasha can still do the job, which we all know is preposterous.

I think that will be a good trade...LOL

absolutely not. ammo is the only trade bait that we have and another sf with a bad contract is not what we need. we really need a pg who can play... like calderon, hinrich, etc...

I'm all for that one. Posey plays great D and hits the long-ball, which is what we lack the most right now.

Unless they get something in trade for AMMO, he's just money off the books. I'm all about spending Dr. Buss' money, so it's easy for me to say.

We dont need another PG.We have trusted and clutch Fish with Farmar to back him up.If we're desperate,we'll play Brown at PG.Poseys contract is for 3 years, but hes only making 300,000 more than AMMO this year, and I believe his salary decreases through the 3 years. Posey fits with the teams style. Chemistry isnt a problem with PJ,Kobe, and Fish.

bynum/farmar/dj/powell

for

noah / heinrich

OR ( my favorite ) ....

bynum/farmar/dj/powell/ MORRISON

for

noah / heinrich / SALMONS

the bulls really want a better shot at landing a big time free agent this summer ......

well really they get rid of 6.5 mil in contracts by sending the lakers

noah / heinrich / SALMONS basically for BYNUM .... since the rest are free agents ......

and the lakers dont make off too bad since salmons will probably opt out after this year (6.5 mil) if he played well for them while making a title push for a long term deal with less yearly ......

im not a big heinrich fan .. and hes havin an awful year (lol) but he can still play d .... and maybe some open looks will benefit him ( we dont have a pg that plays consistent d.... and besides fish ... who hits open looks not shasha or farmar ) ... but noah is a the type of hustle/energy guy who DOESNT need touches and STILL puts up solid numbers ....... hed post bynums POST- GASOL numbers ... off the bench ... wit lo starting

and salmons would fit in nice ........

dj/powell/ammo are useless most nights .....

the lakers depth shows ... on alot of nights ... and farmar cant guard ANYBODY .....

so really it comes down to .......

bynum/farmar

for

noah / heinrich / SALMONS

What do you guys think about bringing back Spiderman??

Quote:
Stephen Dubin in Las Vegas:

Eric, can we send Adam Morrison to NY for Nate Robinson. Helps both sides. Salaries close enough?

Eric Pincus:

Nope! Robinson is what's called BYC (Base Year Compensation) - the most I believe the Knicks can take back for him is something like $2.6 million.

Quote:
Steve in LA:

Is it just me, or does Morrison for Salmons make a ton of sense?

Eric Pincus:

On some levels, yes - in that it's vital at some point for Chicago to trim payroll. Salmons has always played well against the Lakers - is versatile enough to play three positions - and has had some impressive moments as a defender.

That said, I'm not sure yet where the Bulls are going to go - with a coach - with the season, etc.

While cap space in 2010 may play a major role in whatever Chicago does - there's no rush and they'll have a number of options before all is said and done. They may be able to do better than just an expiring contract like Morrison's but time will tell.

The Lakers would have to view Salmons as a triangle lead guard - otherwise there's no way they can justify adding on his salary for next season.

Link: http://www.hoopsworld.com/chat.asp?chat_topics_id=679

Hrmm.. Salmons eh?

Not amazing. Stojakovic is toast, has been for a while. Essentially you trade Bynum and Farmar, and Morrison for Paul. I agree about Stojakovic. But I am a believer in CPO as more than a pure PG. I think he is big enough to satisfy Phil's conditions that a PG be big and versatile, gets along well with others, Kobe likes and respects him, and NO is going nowhere and needs to do something. Bynum/Farmar for CPO. If that trade bring us Stoj I'm ok with that, as a bench player who can occasionally get hot even still.

O'dumb/Morrison/Sasha for Boozer and ?

Of course we can't rebuild the entire team mid-season. It would be disasterous and that's probably what Mitch is thinking. But we know we play well when Bynum is out so go for that one, or something like it. Then again O'dumb is doing nothing as usual, so how could that one hurt as well? Boozer is gone from Utah either way at season's and so better take something for him now, and Utah was very interested in 'dumb-dumb before. Half their team already speaks russian so they'd take Sasha (I know he's not russian but he speaks it lol). We gain more versatility, open the log jam at center and gain D and toughness and perimeter shooting and build for the future. Can look for a true center replacement later. Just thinkin' out loud, how to get rid of the guys I didn't want in LA in the first place heh.

^^thing is Shepherd I think Chris Paul is a smart enough player to adjust his game. You don't get as good as he is being a dummy on the court. And CP3 doesn't even need to run the offense he just needs to hit his open shots. His numbers will certainly fall but just becuase he such a threat, opposing point guards like Rondo, Steve Nash, and others would have to stay honest and work on defense. I'm not too big on Boozer, the guy's been in the leauge for 7 years already and is proven to be injury prone. if we do trade bynum, it definitely should be for someone younger

i think da salmons idea is great people underestimate how good a defender he is.... imagine john kobe n ron starting and gettin after people on d. wit kobe guarding da fastest or smallest person ron guarding there best player n john guarding the other player wit two 7 footers behind them wow....... and who ever da opposing coach desides to put there point guard on we post them to death wit john or kobe. and it would put d.fish on da bench to stabilize dat situation dis sounds like a perfect oppurtunity

Look, the reason I added peja into the deal is so the hornets could clear some cap space. Why would they just take bynum for Paul? That doesn't make sense if the hornets are rebuilding. The hornets need more than just bynum to make a trade. That's why the lakers take the big contract off the hornets hands so that the deal looks more appealing and that the hornets can actually start the rebuilding process.

I'm ok with Peja as I said. And I think it's a smart trade. I didn't get into trying to exactly match contract numbers, filler players etc in my follow up to your suggestion. But you ge the idea of the main players involved. And I think Boozer would be a great trade for Lamar. Hes not injury prone as someone said, only had the one main one in 7 years and this year he's putting up good numbers as he always does. He'd add more tenacity that was started with bringing in Artest; and lets face it, to beat Boston and Cav's etc we need to play more physical. We have 3 bigs who are all soft. Gasol is a great finesse played and I love his game. He's a walking double double when he's not getting pushed around. Boozer would allow him to keep that going and would finally get rid of O'dumb and toughen us up inside. Boozer is doing 20-10 this year. And the cat's got a work ethic so brings that as well. And we'd get a semi-white guy lol

Lol semi white guy.... The number of Games Boozers played in each season...

02-03: 81

03-04: 75

04-05: 51

05-06: 33

06-07: 74

08-09: 37

He doesn't look too durable to me with those numbers he hasn't played a full 82 games and has missed half the season twice in his career and as you get older you just get more fragile, unless you're Kobe but he's just superman. I agree that he would bring more toughness to the Lakers, though... but I still say if we fix our PG situation that will solve everything else. I would love to have Fish come off the bench and ship Famar's @ss out!

The years you're looking at are the time he was legitimately hurt with a knee injury. Second half of one season, first half of the other.

The 3 years he wasn't hurt he played almost every game.

Let's look up 'Drew's and O'dumb's game stats the last 3 years and see how they compare...heheh

I would rather not look at Drew's and O'dumb's stats the last 3 years, I would just weep.

He is certainly an underrated defender to me. Id love to have him here, but he's a SG/SF. Meaning we would either cut Kobe's minutes, Ron's or even cut Luke loose.

We need a PG, to play alongside Shannon.

I'm sure Kobe wouldn't care about decreased minutes if we are winning.

Salmons has really been sliding since his hot start in Ch Town, and I wouldn't want Pargo anywhere near our team again.

Of course anything would be an improvement over Farmar, but I can't imagine Ch taking that trade for what they'd get in return.

Yeah... we need to stop dreaming, Mitch already has said that the whole bench is on the block a while ago, so if these guys had any value at all we would've heard at least a peep from other teams, but we didn't so these guys are pretty much useless and most certainly not valuable by any means.

i think it mite work to start kobe n john n da backcourt and ron odom n pau in da frontline. we would have da capability to be da best defensive team this decade. n our bench would be better wit bynum, fisher, shannon, and luke

Kobe can't guard PG's, he'd get called for a foul everytime down the court.

Now there's a thinking man. Good to have you onboard newbie Sky Fall 24. Good contributions to the debate...

I wasn't, actually I was complimenting you. You're right one with your comments happybeer

Thanks. Very Happy

Marcus Williams doesn't really play at all in Memphis. I thought that guy used to be really good. I men he's only 24.

yea i guess dats tru. so i guess dats not a good starting lineup but i think against teams wit big point guards they can run dat lineup at times. for instance against boston

  1. kobe on rondo

  2. salmons on allen

  3. artest on pierce

against lineups like dat we could run dat lineup for times during the game.... my opinion

I would do that at the end of games only, because we don't want Kobe expending energy chasing around those quick pg's and getting knocked around with a flurry of screens (illegal ones if were talking about the Celtics). But yeah I would use Kobe's length, strength and high IQ against the small PG's in crunch time.

Trade Idea: Courtney Lee

He's having a sub par year, because NJ wants him to be one of the go to guys, along Harris.

But I'd love to get him. Here, he'd be the backup 2, bumping Shannon to the 1. He'd now, be comfortable with so much pressure being taken off him, and be a fantastic role player. He defends really well, and is a good shooter from 3, and pretty athletic. I think he'd fit in beautifully. But what would it take to get him? Im sure Adam is bound to be included in such deal since he has a $5 mil expiring contract, which frees up an extra $5 mil for a big name free agent for them this summer.

Farmar, pick, and Morrison for Lee!

Lee, Salmons, Hinrich, whoeva...just get rid of some dead weight here and give someone else a try who would be honored to be in P+G for a change, and show it in their attitude, play level, enthusiasm and commitment. Just get someone already will ya Mitch...but pls make it someone with some backbone and not yet another wimpy poossy poser...arrghhhhhh

I'd go for that.

I still think Raja Bell is another good candidate too. Golden State has a gazillion quality guards already and I see Raja Bell as the odd man out. If we Trade Farmar, and/or Ammo and maybe a 2nd round pick for Bell, I think the bench would look stronger on both ends of the court. That would allow Brown to backup Fish and Bell would be Kobe's backup. It would be nice to have a guy who's a defensive specialist and solid 3 point shooter coming off the bench.

Ronnie Turiaf and Corey Maggette throw in Raja

wat bout bynum, and farmar for heinrich salmons and noah

bynum/farmar/dj/powell/ MORRISON

noah / heinrich / SALMONS

IS THE ONLY WAY IT WORKS .......

and i would do it in a heartbeat

and the bulls would save 6 MIL next year .. from what it sounds like on a couple of sites .... the lakers might be too insistent on including sasha in any trades ..... good luck mitch ..... im sure alot of teams rather have AMMO expiring than sasha for two more years at 5 mil .......

Yet Heinrich has a 3 year deal so they'd save a year there. It's possible but they won't give up Noah as Mitch won't give up Bynum, much as I'd favor it. Gotta work around that. Also don't think Noah would be a good anchor for the triangle...better to move Pau over and get a banger PF imo

sheppard haha r u makin fun of da way i rite lol
