Pau Gasol's Future with lakers

Lakers Forum » Lakers Blogs

i have been thinking and i was wondering what it would take for gasol to get his jersey hung in staples center? do you think if we do another three peat pau would get that acknowledgement? i mean he is a huge reason for our achievement and our record with him is insane. what is your guys' input? im interested in hearing about this.

If he gets an extension and wins a couple more titles I see him getting his jersey retired.

Of course he's gonna get his jersey retired. IMO, whether or not he retires a Laker. Being the best SPANIARD EVER is a big part of that. He's also among the most talented 7 Footers the game has ever seen and the Gasol trade is right up there with the best trades in Franchise history. For the record, whats our record since Gasol's arrived?

I agree. In fact, I think Pau will retire as a Laker. I don't see any reason why he would not. And in terms of impact, the Pau trade was certainly among the best acquisition that the franchise had. I'm looking forward to seeing number 16 among the retired jerseys in the rafters. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_19

i calculated this not to long ago. i forgot the actual record, but i do remember that, including playoff games, the record is roughly .750 meaning 3 wins for every loss.

Def. retired at staples when we win another three peat. our best chance is this year and upcoming years.

No way does Pau get his Jersey retired at this point. Please!!!!!

He's played 1.5 years with L.A. and you're ready to put his Jersey on the wall......West...Chamberlain...Goodrich....Magic..all players that played major years with L.A.

Let Pau play 6 more years with L.A. and win three more championships and then we'll talk

The Laker record since Feb 1, 2008 when Pau was acquired is 87- 23. They went 65-17 last season and 22-5 in 08 after her was traded.

Give him 5 more years and a couple more titles and he will join Magic, Cap, West, Chick, et all in on the walls.

Now, why isn't Coop up there?

Only Hall of Famers get thier jersey's retired by the Lakers. If he doesn't make it to the Hall he won't get his number retired.

Well, for a spaniard like me, it would be such a great honour to have his number retired there. First, let him finish his career at LA. Then, add a couple of rings more...and, who knows. But i agree, it's so early to talk about this stuff.

this

I think Pau is only a small notch below Tim Duncan. The Lakers turnaround can be linked to his arrival. He is steady and consistent and has a championship attitude. I think he'll be hingin' when it's said and done.

Hope he lifted some weights this Summer...

I Think if he started his Career with the Lakers it would have been automatic, but since he 's only been here for 2 years i dont know

Pau is definitely a future hall of famer--to me. 1 for 2 as a laker...I just hope he can stay with LA.

lol i think thats the point. people think thats going to happen

Men. Pau is awesome. The game has ended and Pau has destroyed France. Sorry Ronny...

Yesterday Game vs Polland. Gortat seemed to be a child... The spaniard Smashed Him...

This man is on the Top of his career. I wish you could see those games. Pau is On fire.

dammit. Wish I was back in Europe now to see them. Anyways Gortat is a back up center. No match for Pau.

Indeed, but one question. If he retires first, then how will he follow that with more rings? Don't you have to play to get rings? :p

It might not be guaranteed that Pau gets his jersey retired by the Lakers, but I'm sure that the Grizzlies will. Pau holds so many of the team's records right now and is also the franchise's only All-Star (sad, huh?); he's a definite lock for getting his jersey up there in Memphis.

He may just get in the Hall of Fame for being the Grizzlies first true franchise player.

Nope. I can't say he deserved it either, especially since the guys who got their jerseys retired, Magic, Wilt, Kareem, all have enough mileage as a Laker to get their jerseys retired...Gasol has only been here for what, 1 1/2 years? I'm sorry, but that, even if it includes an NBA Title partly because of him, is not jersey retirement status.
