media is disrespectful to kobe.

Let's talk about the media real quick. I'm disgusted by them. i wonder if they're paid off to say what they say because honestly some of their opinions are ridiculously stupid. The whole lebron/kobe comparison with the media is a joke. In my opinion i think they disrespected kobe by saying lebron is the best and blah blah blah on how they're fascinated by lebron's athleticism. well let me tell you athleticism can only take you so far in the nba until you get to the point where you have to change your game. By saying lebron is better than kobe just because lebron averages a couple more assist and rebounds than kobe is really effin dumb. serioiusly. i mean lebron has more assist ill give him that although i will not say he's a better passer because kobe has made some ridiculous passes throughout his career and when i see lebron pass all i see are just passes that move real fast. he doesnt really do anything too flashy for my taste. where as kobe will get you out of your seat and have you asking yourself how in the world did he see that? but thats beside the point. the point im trying to make is that kobe is/will not getting the respect he truley deserves and im disgusted. to say that a 25 yr old lebron with a couple of broken records and no ring is better than a kobe who scored 81 points in a game. averaged 40 pts a game for the month of february back in 04 and has 4 rings not to mention the other dozens of records he broke that players cannot even come close to breaking is just wrong. thats like saying kobe is better than jordan when kobe was a rookie and jordan had 6 rings but they would "never" disrespect jordan like that. so in my opinion i think this is plain stupid. You cannot say lebron is better than kobe. in my opinion you have to wait till everything is said and done with both players. what's going to happen when lebron does get his first ring? If they're hyping him up this much and saying he's better than a 13 yr vet with 4 rings than im guessing once he gets his first he will be better than jordan? ha yea right give me a break. the man is good but not the way the media portrays him. he has a mediocre shot and can jump real high. people these days dont' really know what real basketball is. to me real basketball is fundamentals. and everyone is pushing aside players like kobe, duncan, pau, etc. and welcome the atheletic players. although its fun to watch athletic players its dumb to say they're better than players who have great foot work and have been in the game longer than they were born. Here's how i see it..... lebron WILL have to develope a jump shot just as deadly as kobe's to be considered great. dont you agree? if you say that his athleticism will take him a long way than your a joke and i dont mean to offend anyone but it really is a joke how people think that lebron will be a high flyer his whole life. He doesnt even have the same work ethic as kobe. in fact he just started working real hard this offseason because he saw how kobe worked out during the olympics, like it, and started following him. he's lk a little kid that does whatever his older brother does. he watches kobe not because of competiveness but because he tries to 1 up kobe in everything he does. lebron needs to grow up and set his own path and quit following kobe's and jordan's. lebron has another decade in this league...well half that in my opinion unless he developess a jumpshot...to win 4 maybe more rings to be considered better than jordan and kobe. will he achieve that? who knows. you figure you gotta cut out at least another 3-4 years off that decade because as long as kobe is in the league and the team we have now its going to be hard for lebron to win that ring. so you guys can express your thoughts here. id like to hear them. thank you for reading.

wow man you're too obsessed with this issue, its ok, LeBron is great, he is productive enough on the court at all times that he can definitely be considered in that argument. Its not krazy for him to be considered the best in the game. Some people look at the best as CURRENTLY the most productive player and LeBron is currently the most productive player. He hits his 3's pretty well, near Kobe %, and even hits his mid rangers since he's given so much room most of the time. You're looking at it from a career accomplishment perspective and thats different from "best in the game today". Kobe doesn't have that explosiveness anymore that young LeBron has.

There are still analysts that give Kobe his due. Kenny Smith would be one, Jon Barry would be another, even Mike Wilbon believes Kobe is still the best. Of course they flip flop every now and then, just like most humans. The only media heads that are dead-set on Lebron being the best are the stat-huggers who spend more time in the studio basement than in the limelight. Kelly Dwyer, Rick Kamla, 82games crew, and old school Jordan worshipers wouldn't get 10 seconds of primetime to preach their bologna (You gotta pay extra for NBA TV).

Could you imagine some Jordan fanatic coming on to TNT saying Lebron is better than Kobe cus Kobe shoots 46% and Lebron shoots 48%? Or that he gets more rebounds and assists? That's a joke of an argument to true fans. I watch Cav games and I don't even notice most of these assists Lebron is getting. They aren't momentum-shifting assists. The difference is when Lebron passes the ball, the shooter takes the shot. When Kobe passes the ball, a 2nd pass likely ensues for a high% look.

renteria24,

Look at it this way, basically it sells newspapers to write about this subject. My bottom line is as of today who has the rings???? END OF STORY. Yeah, I know Lebron "should" do this and "should" do that BUT until he does it's all hype. The comparison thing has ALWAYS been done and somebody will always get less respect......

I have to disagree with you. Obviously Kobe is way ahead of LBJ in career accomplishment department, and we all agree in that. BUT Kobe is still "best in the game TODAY" because he is more productive than anyone when a game hangs in the balance.

So if i understood you correctly, having more atleticism and more asst/rb (more productive overall) makes someone best in the game today??? what about handling IN GAME SITUATIONS??? that doesnt count for anything? if you say being more productive statistically makes someone "best in the game today" then yes, LBJ is best in the game, but HANDLING IN GAME SITUATIONS must be considered when talking about REAL LIFE basketball game.

In my opinion, kobe is more productive when the game hangs in the balance or handling in game situations, and being not too far away statistically (overall productiveness), kobe is still best in the game today period.

Understand me correctly, i didn't say LeBron is the best in the game, i'm just saying he da*n sure deserves to be in that argument. People have different criteria when they're arguing about this stuff, and LEBron is the winner on some people's criteria. I believe Kobe is the best player on the planet. what do you mean by "hangs in the balance" ?? What do you mean by "in-game situations"??LeBron is very clutch, and as far as i'm concerned, he handles all "in game situations". He is also a winner as far as i'm concerned. Ya, his team didn't make it, but the way he plays the game, attacking the rim, finding teammates, playing defense, thats how a winner plays. LeBron has rarely ever hurt his team while on the court, as opposed to a younger Kobe Bryant, who often tried taking too many shots at the expense of the team. Its not LeBron's fault his teammates didn't step up. Mo Williams was horrible in the playoffs. LeBron did all he could, just like how we always used to say "Kobe did all he could, but his teammates didn't step up".

Hey DID u forget something??????????? We are the EFEN Champs!!!!! thats what defines greatness, was kobe the one who got eliminated by the magic? NO thats it we dont need to worry about the media because the lakers have what every other player in the league including lebron want and thats a ring, get over it guys lebron can have his greatest player today title who gives a rats a** about that

You know, Im sick and tired of having to explain why Kobe is better than LeBron... but I know someone will eventually mention a ridiculous comment demeaning Kobe's play, and overrating LeBron's that I would have to say something.

Is LeBron better than Kobe? Not even close in my opinion... but let me just say this:

I believe that the people who say LeBron is better either 1) Doesnt like Kobe and wants LeBron to be better and will go to the point where he has to overrate LeBron. 2) Loves Athleticism over skill. 3) Is a Cavs fan. 4) Doesnt know SQUAT about basketball.

Do you know what I always wondered? If comparing Kobe to MJ is supposed to be "absurd", "crazy", "ridiculous", etc, then why isnt LeBron to Kobe's? I rest my case....

Kobe has the mid range game.. Kobe has every damn move in the book. You break down the game and you'll notice Kobe has mastered all of it. Lebron is just a great athlete. Get a jumper.. get some post moves... get a fade.. do something... all he can do is dunk and drive. he hits jumpers sometimes but only when he's wide open because the offense anticipates a drive. You keep LBJ away from the basket and he is helpless. Kobe on the other hand is unstoppable. There's nothing you can throw at him that he can't counter.
