I thought this was comedy. Rocket fan on Yao being out for the season:

Quote:
YES YES YES

this is the best news i've heard since t-mac had microfracture!!!!!

i love yao, but we are a much better defensive and rebounding team with him off the court, and the way we've been playing offense with him, we can't be any worse than with him off the court.

THANK YOU BASKETBALL GODS. i am now completely confident that we can beat the Lakers.

there is no way Pau Gasol will have his way with Chuck Hayes in 2 games.

Lol. Wow. And it doesn't sound like he's being sarcastic. Amazing.

Rocket fan? I think not!

This is that shortfuse3 guy. I am surprised that they have not already banned him. I don't know who he is trolling for, but he is obviously not a Rocket fan. Just check his other postings.

Tonight was just one of those nights where no shots were falling, open jumpers and I can't recall how many buckets in the paint rimmed out. Man up and go home and try to hold the fort. The Bynum Gason combo down low is just so tough for our bigs. We need to swing the ball around quicker if they're going to zone up on Brooks, but we gotta make some shots and limit the turnovers. It was pathetic how many balls we mishandled in the high post. Let's leave everything on that floor on thursday and try to force a game 7. Check out my Rockets Videos. I just don't think these Lakers are that good. I think they have on of the crappiest benches of the remaining teams. But, I'm of course saying this after the Rockets lose by 40. Lets see Lakers compete without Bryant, Gasol, and Bynum.

Quote:
It's retarded that people are comparing this game to the Dallas loss. Our guys played their hearts out. Damn, give our players some ****ing credit.

We got beat by a way better team with way more talent, on the road.

Anybody still remember that people expected Lakers to win in 5 WHEN WE HAD A HEALTHY YAO?

Just because our team over-performed for a couple of games and give us the fans some false optimism, it's the team's fault for playing over their heads?

Before this series started, would you have been happy if the Rockets pushed this to 6 games? And remember, we still have a very good chance of going the full 7.

Let's put thing into some perspectives, people. I know this is CF and you're only as good as your last game, but all this bashing on our team is pathetic.

Quote:
Can we all petition to have Cook banned from the team, or at least removed from the playing roster? He shouldn't even be an option, I'd rather have a random bystander playing for us than putting Cook in.

I like reading opposing fans comments. It gives a insite on what they think and how they act

Wow Brian Cook not getting any love from the Rockets fan..Very happy that its not the Laker he is hurting with his shooting...He is 0-7 from the field and 0-4 from the 3 pt land...Its probably that is his last game in the NBA....

Comments from Nuggets fans.

Quote:
Take 'em out Nuggets, if the refs don't absolutely screw us we have a real good chance of winning this series. I say Nuggets in 6 if it's called the right way. K-Mart, Nene and Birdman aren't Scola, Hayes and Landry. Andrew Bynum is a scrub, he's gonna have a hard time and so is Bob Saget Gasol cuz he's a skinny soft b*tch. Bring it on Gayker fans, you're about as fake as all the chicks over there, you jump on the wagon as fast as you jump off. Fans like us cheer for a real team not a team that's given the ring or the chance to play for one almost every year cuz they're popular, but cuz they deserve it. Kobe's legit, the rest of the guys are weak although Kobe is a rapist. Now you know their dumba** fans will try to come back with some kind of Melo smack but the bottom line is he's gotten in trouble for bud and punching a scrub at the Garden, Kobe sexually assaulted a white girl and got off by giving her hush money and the NBA still glorifies him. Anyway go Nuggets pull off the unthinkable, go to the Finals and shut everyone up.

"Bob Saget" Gasol? hahaha

Quote:
Feb 27th was less than 3 months ago and not 3 years ago so it should still be fresh in the Nuggs minds how to beat this team! Not saying it will be easy but it sure as hell can be done! Once again this Laker team were facing in the finals this time around is not even close in talent to one 25 years ago and we have more talent now than the Nugg team that faced them back then had and unlike them we are not just happy to be here! My only concern is Nene not picking up silly fouls vs Bynaum and KMart doing the same and keeping his Cool vs Gasol! Kobe is going to get his no matter what. That's a given. We have to keep Bynaum and Gasol in check. Nuggets in 6! 8 )

Quote:
Nuggets in six.

The Lakers are missing one key element: HUMILITY

They are the most pompous pro sports team in recent memory. Accordingly, they will look past Chauncey-Melo-Nene-Smith, a freakishly talented foursome that they will have trouble with on both ends of the court. They struggled mightily beating the Rockets reserve squad. Seriously, Houston was down to Scola and Artest on offense. And they couldn't win in 5 or 6? Unbelievable.

Additionally, there is plenty of chatter in the Lakers echo chamber about how the Nuggets didn't beat any strong teams on their path to the WCF. Excuse me, was a mediocre Utah Jazz team an elite opponent?

So, the mediocre Jazz and 1/2 of the starters for the Rockets are superior teams, somehow?

The Nuggets are peaking right now while LA has character and motivation issues. They are lost and will be fatigued this series. Odom is hobbled. They will have trouble matching up in the paint unless Gasol can stand on his head and score 25 points each game. And Denver's front court matches up well vs Kobe et al and is playing aggressive defense in the playoffs, generating lots of steals and fastbreak points.

On top of all this, the Lakers prefer clean look jumpshots, similar to Nowitzki and the Mavs. The Nuggets prefer to grind and push the ball to the basket, which not only generates a lot of free throws but wears down opponents. Clearly, the Nuggets are going to be the fresher team, and training at a higher altitude gives them the edge physically.

The one X factor to the series is Kobe. He can win games on his own. But against tough, smart team defense, his solo prowess is limited, and he has a tendency to hog the ball when the going gets tough.

Let's just hope that we keep the Black Mamba at bay.

And I think the Nuggets team is better-equipped to contain the Lakers BIGS than a Yao-less, Mutombo-less Rockets team, obviously.

Nene needs to play with more intensity and aggression on the road, and overall, in this series..because...I think we all know that Erick Dampier is no Andrew Bynum

Not to mention, Pao Gasol and the work he does on the offensive glass...we really need the BiRdMaN to flap his wings in this series. But even more importantly, he's gotta STAY OUTTA FOUL TROUBLE! If he sees a scrub like Sasha Vujacic driving to the lane, just disturb him a little bit, and then box the sh** outta those bigs.

I think Trevor Ariza will defend Melo a lot in this series, but if the Nuggets are playing defense and running the court like they should, Melo will got a lot of open-court looks, and that's especially what we need.

Either way, this will be one helluva series, and I can see it going to a game 7...Good health to both teams, but good luck to the Nuggets

Quote:

Word. I think we can get Bynum in foul trouble pretty quickly. He's prone to really foolish fouls. The more physical the series, the better off for the Nuggets.

Seems the Lakers should be scared they won't live up to their billing. Nuggets only one way to go is up. It's actually one of the more appropriate matchups considering the meeting in the 1st round last season and the improvements made this year now both meet in the conf. finals. No one should be scared.

Add a Suns fan to the Denver bandwagon. BEAT LA!

From Very Fat 21 at Kingsfans:

Quote:
In the post-game show on TNT, all four guys made some very interesting observations about the Lakers. I was interested because it seems to me more and more people are seeing what I - the biased Kings fan - have been seeing for quite some time.

Chuck said that although he thinks the Lakers will probably win, he doesn't think they deserve it. And Kenny added that he agreed, because the Lakers don't respect the league. He went on to explain that the Lakers act like it's all a walk in the park; they don't give their best every night. Instead, they dog it or just make it obvious they don't care.

Webb made some very good points about Denver. He said they're going to bring it every night and if they do, the Lakers just might be in for a big shock.

This honestly isn't a Laker-bashing thread. It's more about trying to explain - over and above the whole rival thing - why they irritate me (and apparently a lot of other NBA fans).

I want a team to give their all every night. I don't want them to act as though they're entitled to more than anyone else because of the name on the front of their jerseys.

I'd like to see team fans who don't boo the national anthem simply because it includes the word "rockets"...

I'd like to see team fans who cheer for their team to do well; not who stand up and chant "We want tacos."

I guess this is turning into a bit of a Laker bashing thread after all, but I guess that's just the way it goes.

I root for them to lose to Denver but if they do head to the finals, I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever their swagger and sense of entitlement will go for naught. I do not think the Lakers - finals experience notwithstanding - can beat Lebron James.

N webber is a QUEEN so ofcourse he is going to talk smack about the lakers...

take care of busniess the first 2 games and this series is taken in 5 by the lakers

I see Dahntay Jones & Melo containing Kobe as best as you can contain Kobe.

Kobe is going to will the Lakers to two wins though.

But Denver pulls this one out.

Billups will get the best of Ariza & Fisher.

Bynum & Gasol won't be a problem for Nene, K-Mart, and The Birdman(especially if Odom is still hurting from his fall).

Melo & JR are going to hit at least 7 crazy 3's..in first game

Quote:

Bynum & Gasol won't be a problem for Nene, K-Mart, and The Birdman

Funniest thing I read all day. Delusional but funny. Nene is basically just a hybrid model of Ronny Turiaf, K-Mart is nothing special anymore and Birdman is 100% one dimensional. A realistic assessment would give the Nuggets the advantage at PG and SF but they are way overmatched at SG, PF and Center.

DJ should be put on the birdman. That would be fun.

Here is a Cavs fan trying to stir up the Nuggets fans on the Denver site at MSN Fox Sports. His last post shows he is afraid of the Lakers:

I don't think the Lakers can win this series. Nuggets are just too good of a team right now. And I don't know how much fuel L.A has left in the tank. Because the tandem of Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony is gonna be too much for the tandem of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. Lakers are in for another long series. And L.A has no interior defense because they just finished a grueling series with the Rockets today and they don't have a chance to keep up with the Nuggets. Nuggets in 6.

Quote:
Well the nuggets have more letters in their name so they win. It's over L.A. might as well give up now lol. Also since Denver sits at a high altitude than L.A. we win again! thats 2-0! I love the beaches near L.A. too so its 3-3... and umm... We havnt been to the conference finals in 24 years, and its only been 1 for L.A. and 24 is more than 1 so Denver wins the series 4-3 =)

The LA players must have lasers in their eyes to make opponents miss wide open 3 pt looks. We only hit the contested shots. Maybe its only Phil with a laser pointer in his glasses. He points it towards jack nicholsons glasses that then reflects off of any denfenders eyes using a special contact lens. Either way it sucked.

Quote:
We had the lead a few times, but couldn't put them away. Stopped going to the basket, and settled for jumpers(27 3s is a joke). Although I hate to say it, the Lakers made the tough shots when they had to, and we didn't. Regroup, play as a team, and tie it up 2-2 on Monday. Then we'll see what happens.

Quote:
Seriously, its enough already. They shot 45 free throws and only won by 6.That shows how much better we are then them.Im extreamly confident we can still win this thing, but when we are giving a team 45 free throws, lets atleast make them worth it.HARD FOULS.no more and 1's.

I understand that we try to prove a point and guard kobe one on one,but thats not going to cut it anymore.I'm okay with jones and melo doing it.But smith needs wayyyy more help.i hope gk learned his lesson this game. And i just dont think jr should have the green light anymore,he has completely taken advantage of it with his retarded 3's.

So from here on out,i would like to see more doubling up on kobe and make the rest of the team beat us and not just one guy.I think thats the thing that hurts the most, not being beaten by an entire team. Its a one man show in L.A and they would be garbage without him.

DOUBLE KOBE AND FOUL GASOL HARD!

please.

Quote:
Here are some things to consider in everyone's arguement that the Lakers will be given a free pass to the finals.

There have been 62 NBA Finals played since 1946-47

The Lakers have been to the Finals 47% of the time (29 times) That is the most of any team

The Lakers have won the championship 22.5% of the time (14 total)

Only the Celtics have more (17), and the next closest is the Bulls with 6.

When you look at the history, its no wonder the league has the perception of being fixed. Call it envy or whatever you want, but people get tired of seeing the sames teams play for the championship all the time.

Quote:
Yall lakers fans are so lame

Ya team shot 45 free throws, and we shot too much 3's and yall only won by 6

Please. When Karl decided to play Kleiza more to spread the floor, combined with us stop forcing 3's. We win

We're going to win game 4 out of fight and heart. Then we can go back with that same plan in L.A, then win again

Quote:
NBA must have told the refs to help the Lakers. The fouls called today. Wow!! What does it take for Carmelo Anthony to get a call. The NBA is so unfair. You know they want the Cavs and Lakers in the finals. If I was the Lakers, I would foul Carmelo because the Refs will not call it. Kobe gets calls even if some doesn't touch him. I just wish they would let them play.

Quote:
Why do we have to keep shooting jump shots? I honestly feel we just gave away the series because we have no discipline, JR just kept shooting three's. Don't get me wrong I love JR. I just think there's a time to stop the three's and drive the basket and we couldn't do that, even Chauncey couldn't stop shooting them. The warrior is Melo, Chauncey may have gotten us here, but Melo is the only one playing with heart. we will not win this series, I thought we would before tonight's game.

Quote:
That game was painful to watch as a nuggets fan. Horrible shot selection and decision making. With the amount of energy at the Pepsi Center we should have never let the Lakers stick around and keep it close. What is JR thinking this series? LK needs more playing time against these guys. This is a game we should have won. That's two games we've let slip through our hands. Let's regroup, stop reading our headlines, take game 4 and go from there. It is obvious that if we don't shot ourselves in the foot we can win this series.

Also some credit must be given to the Lakers we left the door open and they took every advantage. However these LA fans need to get a life. I don't know of anything more pitiful than to get on an opposing teams discussion board and talk s***. Just pathetic. These people must have the lowest self esteem and have to compensate for their microscopic genitals. That's my only guess

What the Nuggets need to do to win: Its hard telling if this team can play much better than it did in the first two games of the series, besides the poor free throw shooting in game 1. The Nuggets were much better from the line in game 2, and that was a big reason they were able to hold off the Lakers late in the 4th quarter. Anthony and Billups are causing havoc to the Lakers, and it might get even better with the Nuggets heading to their home floor. Both Martin and Nene are playing great inside defense, and they have got great play out of Chris Anderson when he comes in off the bench, and it will really help there chances if these guys continue to make life rough on the Lakers big men. I don’t know if you can count on Kleiza to come in and shoot like he did in game 2, so I strongly believe the Nuggets are going to need a much better game from J.R. Smith. As long as the Nuggets keep the intensity level where its at, this team is going to be in every game the rest of the way

If there is a time to take control of the series, it is now. I think it is doable. Kobe and the Lakers aren't the same team as last year. In 2008, we played them in the first round. The entire team had fresh legs, Kobe had fresh legs, Vujacic, Vlad, and the Lakers were playing great ball. This year, Kobe has had to play an entire season after a super long finals run last year, olympics, and two other playoff series, one of which went 7 games with Artest and Battier hounding him. Not only that, we are playing every other night. The Lakers just came off a 7 game series. We have to jump on these guys at the can and just steam roll them in Game 3.

Everyone has to atleast try to stay out of foul trouble, especially our 2 guards. (WTF is Karl thinking leaving DJ in the game with 4 fouls in 6 minutes?) JR guarding Kobe with the game on the line? Seriously? I mean, the kid did well on him, but you know Kobe is going to take advantage of that mismatch.

I don't know why Melo went back to his perimeter game. Trevor is at an advantage out there.

Nuggets shoot under 40% from the field and in the teens from the three-point line and then have two of their main player foul out and no one on the team shoots well other than Nene and Birdman. I just can't blame the inbound pass on this game. This came down to Chauncey, Melo and JR all playing a poor game at the same time. Yes, Melo got to the free throw line, but he wasn't making shots after the first quarter and started racking up fouls.

I still think they can win this series because it's taking superhuman basketball from Kobe, however, the Nuggets are going to have to shoot better. There is no excuse for them to score 97 points against the Lakers. If they hit even 4 of the wide open 3's they missed, they would have 109 points. JR was frickin 2-10 out there. I mean that's awful (and Chauncey was pretty bad himself).

Upset that it was the Lakers that missed a ton of free throws and we didn't take advantage of it. And while I am not throwing in the towel...I know how difficult it will be to try to win the next 3 out of 4 games. A disappointing night in Denver...

Bite on this: 19 missed 3 pointers between Chauncey, JR and Melo. Between the three of them, how many offensive rebounds?

You could bring the free throw disparity into it, and in the moment blame yet another bad pass (Melo got himself open), but how many small incisions does it take before it all fallas apart?

Miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three, miss a three.

And actually, the Lakers weren't exactly hot from 3, but somewhere in there there are 7 points the Lakers got back in transition and/or from the free throw line.

Think about it, yet another disheartening 3, desperation defense when the Lakers are on the attack yet again, the Lakers end up converting....over and over again.

Try about half as many three point shots, go for 10 more assists, and this game is won. Maybe the ft disparity wouldn't have made it that close either.

We just did NOT execute. Nobody played well tonight except Bird and first 1/2 Melo (don't know where that guy went after though).

You think they have the sack to get up again from this one? Game 1 felt different from this loss. This one has me much angrier.

Defense: Pau stepped up and Bird couldn't stop him. Nene's fouls caught up with him so he wasn't able to push Pau out of the paint. Other than Pau, we did OK in the paint but got caught by Ariza's 3s. Kobe is Kobe.

Offense: Fell in love with the 3 ball - Billups in particular; smelled of a desperation to be the scorer we needed. Kleiza's hustle might have justified his defensive limitations - he probably should have been in there instead of KMart. Maybe too much emotion in this team - hopefully it dissipates by game 4 and it plays with more calm and control.

Melo played a great first half and then started to play dumb and falled in love witht he 3, that's not your not shot man, drive it in. Billups had come up so small in this serie, he needs to stop with that pullup dagger three in transition.

Im starting to doubt whether jr is even going to have one decent shooting game in this series, he's atrocious from behind the arc like melo and chauncey and yet they still launch it all game.

2 bad inbound pass= two loss, after a tough loss in game 1 nugs bounced back to take game 2, can they do it again?, i think yes.

My bet is were going to win game 4 and Series going to be tied 2-2 heading back to la.

The way we played with so little energy, it seems like we played without a sense of purpose... we just forced ourselves to play hard but we forgot what we're playing for. This loss could be a blessing in disguise... it would really hit the players hard... the Lakers played so bad from tip off to early fourth quarter, just unLaker basketball like, any playoffs team, or any Conference Finals team should have beat the living crap out of them but we didn't because largely in part we were damn sloppy too. And we were too sloppy in fact that no players fought to get out of that sloppiness, and Lakers sensed this and they struck.

Maybe going back to LA is a good thing because when the crowd and everybody is against you, it "wakes" you up. Can't afford not to play smart, can't afford to play without intensity and sense of purpose.

2-2 going back to LA or bust.

I ******* hate the lakers and their idiot fans and I would like nothing more than to see you lose. I swear to god, if the Nuggets win the last two games you morons will never hear the end of this. We could get swept in the finals and I would STILL torment you. You are the biggest bunch of bandwagon idiot fans this planet has ever seen. I hope Kobe breaks a leg and all of you cry. Your so annoying.

Quote:
Bad calls aside, the Nuggets need to take a page from the Magic: the way you win with all of those things against you is by executing, and the Nuggets haven't done that. They should have been up by at least 3, maybe 6 or 7 at half, but instead went in tied. They should have pushed the lead to 11 or 13 in the third when they were up 7, but had some missed shot's and t.o.'s. Other than Billups, this new for the rest of the team. They have shown they can learn from their mistakes and improve, and they aren't afraid of the Lakers like they might have been in the past. You Lakers fans sure do get excited about winning a home game like you're supposed to, and only by 9 at that. It was still a 4 point game with 3 minutes left, and if Nene buries Odom in the basket instead of trying to finger roll around him, it's only a 2 point game and who knows. Melo has torched you guys at Staples and the Nuggets have already won there once, should have been twice. I'd be a little worried if I were you guys, because these aren't the Rockets in a game 7, and if it comes down to 1 game, anything can happen. All the pressure would be on the Lakers in a 7th game, because they're supposed to be the one's in the Finals.

Oh yea, Dave A, the difference between J.R. and Birdman in Denver was that the game in Denver was over at the 3 minute mark, the one tonight wasn't. Brown and Odom couldn't say much, because even after Brown's dunk and Odom's 3, it was still a 4 point game. The Nuggets didn't quit like the Lakers did Monday, and that should scare you about a game 7. We'll see how loud you are Sunday.

As for the phantom fouls and the hack job, this wasn't even close. I think it would be worth the 25k for Karl to call this what it was. Heck for this bad of a job, I'd even think popping one of them in the lip might be sufficient. How hard is it to call an even game. I don't care that you call little fouls on the nuggets when the Lakers drive the lane, but then do it on the other end. You have 3 guys gang raping Melo and others under the rim and your whistles stay silent.

There needs to be an investigation into the league for game tampering. Especially when the refs are going to make it so the Eastern Conference finals goes to game 6. You heard it here first folks. There is no way the refs or the league will allow the Magic to advance in game 5. Period. Too much money invested in a Kobe-Lebron series. I mean all you have to do is look at that foul Lebron got at the end of regulation in Game 4 and you can see the hack job is on.

I seriously hope I never meet an NBA ref in person. I am to young to go to prison.

Quote:
The Lakers are pretty embarrassing. They cried about losing and now the Nuggets have just got jobbed worse than any team I have seen by referees that were working overtime keeping the Lakers in it. Stern I would be careful you are teetering on a thin line that our country calls fraud. When you and your refs make bets on teams and those teams win all the time. Thats when congress may make an entry! I would seriously seriously watch out if caught you are going to jail. May I remind you that you are old and will rot in jail.

Nuggets Fans,

The corruption surrounding the officiating in the playoffs is not going unnoticed. The desired outcome of Lebron and Kobe being in the finals is being marketed by ESPN and the NBA prior to the games being played. It is blatant. The Magic are so good they have been able to break the corruption so far. One more game to go. The Nuggets can and will do the same. Do not get down on your Nuggets...they will prevail. Nuggets are a better talent then LA and as I have posted before, best talent wins out.We are in Orlando taping every game and extrapulating the evidence to show cause for all to view proma facia evidence and see the pattern of calls that effected the outcome directly. It will be well organized. We have two Senators who will take time and view the presentation and hear our concerns.Goal is to get congress to look into what may be going on,get out the facts and clean up this fixed syndrome.

Now you guys go out and get the next two games. Lets have the Magic and Nugget showdown between the two top talented teams in NBA... It is not LA and it is not Cleveland. Lets get this done. Go Nuggets, Go Magic!!!!!

A magic fan on Kobe vs. Dwight

Quote:
Dwight Howard is better than Kobe and does more to help his team win. Kobe hasn't won anything as a teams #1 player and still has to prove that a wing, outside of Jordan, can win without a dominate post presence. If LeBron couldn't do it I doubt Kobe can.

Does Gasol count as that post presence? He sure can play some offense, and with a core of him, Kobe, Ariza, and Odom the Lakers have the best offensive team in the league. But Gasol's D, while steady, is far from dominating, a weakness that I think the Magic can exploit.

So a big part of this battle will come down to who can dominate their respective match-ups best, Kobe vs. Lee/MP or Howard vs. Gasol/Bynum. Considering the Magic will have a much easier time limiting Kobe's drives than they did with LeBron they should be able to force him to be a jump shooter while Howard will dominate in the paint and end up drawing the double team. Advantage Magic.

There will also be the rest of our frount courts battling it out, but I think that on most nights Lewis/Hedo vs Odom/Ariza will go in the Magic's favor.

So I'm saying Magic in 7, winning games 1, 3, 5, & 7.

Dwight Howard is better than Kobe? Dwight is a great player but no.

Forcing Kobe to be a jump shooter? He lives for that midrange shot, as he showed today all game long.

This series is going to be a big part of Kobe's legacy if we win this. I anticipate a lot more big games for Kobe; not always scoring-wise, but he's showing some mad skills with his passing and court vision.

I expect the Lakers to come out the same way in game 2. We need to kill this team already, take their heart out. We need to make them believe that whatever adjustments they make, its not going to work.

A typical Celtics fan in one of their logical, well thought out arguements. It's hard to complain with something like that...

Actually, there are a few Leper fans that are intelligent, though obviously misguided in their allegiances. Nonetheless, a well-known and unattackable scientific study, puts the average I.Q. of a fan of the Boston Celtics at 18, just slightly above the intelligence level of a 1958 Edsel Citation convertible.
