**end dream thought now**
Utah - 88
Mutumbo at age 42 still is playing.
Bring the Mailman out of retirement.
I want to see the lakers bleed. I want to see a bone poking through the skin. Ours ___ssy's we call players DERON INCLUDED wants to be Kobes friend. THey need to go in looking to kill somebody. Who cares if we dont have the talent.
I am dead sick of Deron being everybodys friend. I bet he carried the bags during the olympics, not because he had too, but because he wanted too.
When will Sloan make adjustments
it's obvious memo boozer sap cant guard odom
odom abuses them.
last year he dominated utah. this year he also did it if i'm not mistaken he even grabbed 20
rebounds
in 1 game. yet sloan refuses to adjust defensive
assignments/schemes
will sloan finally make an adjustment when jazz are down 3-0
seriously sloan DO Something.
this isnt about the game thread
this is about odom raping jazz since playoff last year
and if sloan does not make adjustments the raping will go on for atleast the next 4 games.
i dont put this in the game thread because this isnt about this particular game
just lamar odom in general raping jazz
Gasol > Boozer
Bynum >> Okur
Kobe >>>>>>>>>>>>>Brewer
Ariza > Miles or Hapring
Fisher <<<< Williams
And I'd take the Laker's bench.
Odom >>> Millsap
Vujacic >> Korver
Farmar vs. Knight - tossup
Walton vs. AK/Harp. Give this one to AK, but not by much as of late.
...hold me.
Well, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really...
Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I’ve cheered for a long, long time for the Jazz. The least you can do is level with me. What are our chances?
Not good.
You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
I'd say more like one out of a million.
[pause]

Likely 1:30 MDT.
My guess is the sched will look like this:
Game 1 4/19 1:30pm
Game 2 4/22 8:30pm
Game 3 4/24 8:30pm
Game 4 4/26 1:30pm
Game 5 4/28 8:30pm
Vacation
WTF HAPPENED TO THIS SEASON?
How appropriate that the star of Titanic came to see that shipwreck of a game.
LOL.... nice find LF4L
Well you know a team plays defense badly is their fans are saying that the Lakers play good defense....
Anyway, it SHOULD be a sweep....this is an awful lot like last year. The Lakers get a team that's nowhere near as good as their record might show...
Lakers in 4, average margin of victory is 12-13 points...
Utah just isn't willing to work out there. They're horrible defensively, Boozer still isn't healthy, and no one (Williams excluded) else seems to care.
Well the fans have thrown in the towel, now if the players do the same we will be ok.
We better come out really strong in game one and make it seem like they have zero chance. I loved the message Bynum sent last night.. that gave me chills for some reason lol...
You know, one of the best ways to find out just how good your team is is to listen to rival fans. It's hard to really understand how good you team is, until you read things like this.
I've been saying for a while now that this team is the best the league has to offer, and by reading these comments, I only feel stronger about saying this team is the best.
Still though, I had really high hopes for the Jazz this year. But I think Okur needs to be traded for a center who can play good defense, or for Boozer to be traded for a player who is more around the PF size. I don't know Boozer's actual height, but is LeBron bigger than him? Maybe the Jazz should try to get Bosh, yeah. Trade Boozer and a pick(or another player) for Bosh, that'll make the team just that much better, atleast it should.

Sorry I just had to post these too funny. Here are some comments from Rockets fans
Lakers got pissed in tonight game and decided to rape Utah's sorry a** for 4 more times.
Let's all joy for the moment, all fans of NBA teams who hate Utah.
If you were one of the people who WANTED to face the (bleep) in the first round and thus are disappointed in the events then this thread is not for you. DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD!
uh yeah...i fear them.
they beat us like 1980's Tyson opponents.
repeatedly.
i love the rox...i believe in them....for real.
but there is exactly ZERO evidence to support that the ROX can beat these guys.(utah)
crucify me. im a realist.
seeing AB and Williams on the same floor is like watching one of those national Geographic films...starring a beautiful baby gazelle and a lion.
(AB is the gazelle.)
Here are some from the Mavs fans.
Fouls/going to line probably kept Utah in this game a lot longer than they should've been.
Absolutely. Utah unnecessarily awoke the beast. Now they have the privilege of being summarily dismissed by that beast in the postseason.
Well...
Bynum threw one down and as he ran back he ran into Williams. He might've been able to move...might not have, either way Williams took offense to that. The next play down or soon there after, Williams made it a point to really put some meat into a pick he threw on Bynum. It wasn't necessary and really wasn't involved in the action of the play and he got called for a foul and lead to a timeout and Williams and Kobe were talking back and forth.
At that point, Utah bent over.
Here are some Celtic fans reaction.
I am so sick of being misinformed that it is disgusting. **** THE MEDIA
Hallowed be Thy name
Why havn't they mentioned anything about surgury? I mean he had to damage something in his knee that will require surgury. He must have got a MRI? This is killing me not knowing, and the fact that we didn't know till today.
It's a good thing we got a ring last year because it may be the last one for a while.
This guy doesn't know how to spell "surgery" correctly.
Get it?... that's our Window.... crashing!
More Celtic fans reaction.
I know bynum isnt KG, thats for sure! but an excuse is an excuse, and we pounded on lakers fans all summer and season because of it, but Celtics fans are gonna be awful with the excuses.
This was part of the risk in getting KG. Injuries are part of the game. Absolutely no excuses.
And Ill be cheering for the good team we still do have, but lets hope there not emotinally crushed and just lose in the first round because of this dramatic loss
The Rebound Tipping Queen Ganja Foul Machine can’t ram it low
but…..Ram it Low with Po and let’s give it a go!
As much as this hurts, we are still a good team without him. I still see us getting to the ECF, I can even see us slip by cleveland (probably not but could), however we will have no answers for pau gasol come finals time if we make it.
How could this happen to me?
Same for Danny and Wyc!
For two months they go out of their way reassuring us that KG will be ready for the playoffs. Last night on TV, Wyc said KG would be playing.
ALL LIES!!!!!
Only two things can save the Celts now : Crippling injuries to Kobe and LeBron within the next 7-10 days.
It’s OK, guys! We have Mikki Moore!
For either the Lakers or the muscle flexing dancing Cavs.
I think I just threw up in my mouth
Not to second guess...
… but if the injury was this serious, they should have gotten KG surgery immediately after the injury. It’s been over 8 weeks, and the injury is apparently still not healing as anticipated.
The Celtics medical staff has left a lot to be desired in recent seasons.
Eh...
“We” may not be able to better diagnose the issue, but that doesn’t mean the medical staff got it right. They majorly dropped the ball with Big Al, Wally, and others in the past. Why should anybody suggest they got things right with KG here?
I think it’s perfectly fair to suggest that the medical staff failed to appreciate the significance of the injury, both initially and during his rehab. Again, it wouldn’t be the first time.
go team though
That one sounds familiar....
I could say a lot more, but that about sums it all up.
I wonder who's currently more optimistic: Us or Cavs fans?
The Cav fans because they get to butcher the beantown bullies before we can. We need to wait until next year or further into the future
Ok, here's a couple from female Celtics fans:

It breaks my little Celtic Green heart to say that but I am a realist. Without KG, we don't have what it takes to get to The Finals.
Game 1 reaction from Jazz fans....
Horrendous start by the Jazz, and if Miles or Brew had stepped up this game would be down to the wire right now.

It definitely will be, UT OUTLAW. I hope the Jazz respond with a care free, fun loving attitude. Because they will play so much better if they look at it like that and just have fun.
Mark my words: The Jazz will make a Finals appearance again here in the next 2-3 seasons. And I'm not ruling out this year yet. Jazz have the potential to shut the Lakers down. It's a matter of who will show up to the game, Jeckyl or Hyde? Special Olympics Jazz or Kobe Killers? ;p
You know, with all the hype surrounding a kobe/le bron showdown, something is bound to happen. Something like, oh I don't know, Lakers being eliminated in the 1st round. lol ;p
I've accepted the fact that we ended up with the worst match-up for the 1st round. But it'll be exciting to watch. Whether the Jazz exit 1st round or not I'm watching EVERY game east and west. YOU GOTTA LOVE IT, BABY!
When is Sunday going to get here already?!?!

If the Jazz can pull together a full 48 minutes, they are a serious contender. They just slack off half the time. That first half today is where we lost. The 2nd half looked pretty good. If they could put two halves/four quarters together, they'd win!
And I think they can do it!!!

Might as well name yourselves the LA Kobe's, seriously! ;p
Game 1 In-Game/Post-Game Quotes
The NBA hasn't guaranteed it. Utah has by giving up already.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
Boozer being picked on. Brewer missing outside jumpers. Collins making us play 4 on 5. Horrible defensive decisions. CJ playing like a scared little girl. Jazz's overall intensity lacking. Millsap and Harpring battling inside. Deron leading us.
Keep Millsap, Deron, and Kosta. the rest of this team is expendable.
this only proves my theory right. Anyone notice what was happening when our offense was clicking early on? Only when we decided to miss wide open jumpers and give the ball away did the Lakers really start building a lead.
The issue isn't our horrible defense, but our gross offense. We just don't have the offensive fire power outside to keep the Laker d honest. Nor do we have a big man inside to matchup against Gasol and Bynum.
The Jazz can battle the Lakers. They just need to do it for the full game. I was VERY happy with the second half. A few mental lapses aside in that half (AK's ridiculous dish, a couple missed layups, some poor passes from D-Will) and the score would have been far closer. Overall though I look forward to game 2.
Unbelievable that we only lost by 13 and we shot under 40%!!! I don't want to get too optimistic, because I still think we are gonna have a hard time winning one game, but we could definitely make this series more interesting than I thought. If we could, for once, shoot well, I think we could win, even in LA. Their length gives us such fits though...
Horrendous start by the Jazz, and if Miles or Brew had stepped up this game would be down to the wire right now.
See you on Tuesday laker clowns
Huh the Lakers were just bored in the 3rd. They will be more ready next game
If they were bored they aren't a championship team. Championship teams don't let off the gas in the playoffs.
Give the Jazz some credit, they fought in the 2nd half.
exactly. we got 2 fouls on fisher in 2:30 and then once brown came in, williams stopped attacking instead of trying to get a couple quick ones on him as well, or quick ones on their bigs (which came later) or getting a layup, or quick out. i guess he just figured that ak and brewer were out there for any quick outs and they can't shoot. love the glaring flaws on this team.
NOBODY aside from Deron is to dribble the ball down the court.
Do NOT take stupid shots over an extended Odom/Bynum/Gasol when the odds are against you.
Do NOT miss layups.
Do NOT get frazzled and make silly turnovers when the crowd is loud.
D-Will needs to play the whole game and needs to continue to drive to the basket and draw fouls.
Boozer stepped it up today and he needs to keep that up.
We need to go to the paint and draw fouls. Brewer and Miles among others are not hitting their shots.
The Lakers are better than we are, but that does not mean we cannot beat them.
Their role players hit a lot of tough shots, ours couldnt hit anything at all from the outside. Deron couldnt hit anything from the outside. We had no Memo. We outplayed them in the 2nd half.
The Jazz played hard, Boozer is starting to look a little better.
It looks like we are atleast willing to fight them. We were a disasterous Brevin Knight stint away from legitimately being in this game.
This game reminded me very much of the first game of the last Jazz-Lakers series which is a good thing because we were actually a good team then.
We didn't quit, but still I never have the sensation we could come back....
The best thing is we didn't play our best game.
We really arent a deep team.
We really havent made the defensive commitment.
We dont have Derons backup...and he isnt on this roster.
AK is never coming back.
Korver might be on the decline already...I hope thats not true.
Stop being so damn proud. Make changes. Get very creative this summer, get aggressive, get hard working players in here. We dont need to be a 1 and 4 team. We dont need to be a half court team. We need to become the team that is best suited to win a championship. Send everyone in the Jazz FO to San Antonio and have them learn something.
I can live with Sloan being the coach, but he needs to become more open-minded and be ready for change. Otherwise we need to find a new coach.
Yep, nobody, and I mean nobody, will ever accuse the Jizz fans of being classy...actually, the Lakers have not been playing good basketball, but, a crappy game from the Lakers is simply enough to beat the Jizz when they play one of their better games. The abyss of talent is just that wide...
Yeah, that's one thing it I'm a little worried about...
As a three-man unit, Brown, Odom, and Ariza have been shooting over 76% on threes. 13 of 17. That pace won't last, especially not on the road.
I also noticed that Miller was overrating everyone's height.

meaning adding inches to just about everybody on the Lakers. He is not the only commentator that seems to think everybody on the team is at least 7 foot tall. He probably thinks Jordan Farmar is 7' 2"!

Yeah I know, Cougs.
Just wishful thinking. I agree that Sloan is past his prime and has probably become apathetic in his career. He put all of his mojo into Stockton/Malone and was shut down by Jordan and the Bulls. That has to take a lot out of you.
And to be completely honest, we'd have to play the Lakers in the WCF anyways if we didn't have them in the 1st round. So... take that as you will.
I would like the Jazz, and Sloan, to go out and throw caution to the wind and make it interesting. That, imo, is their best chance of getting anywhere. And to have fun doing it.
And, that's the beauty of basketball! Things could swing in the Jazz's favor! Underdog upsets happen bro!
;p With that being said, JAZZ IN 6!!
I hope Sloan doesn't put us in too bad of shape. I mean, I hope he doesn't do things like let Milsap go and let D.Wil get frustrated and wanting to leave Utah. That would seriously suck. Jazz are right on the brink of a championship team!

Zz17 & Cougs, As much as it kills me to say it...I think you may be rite about ol' Jerry. Maybe it is time to move on. He's been @ it longer than anyone $ it's probably taken a toll on him. It has been a great ride, though, & I'll always think of him as The toughest & grittiest coach in the league.
If this is possibly his last go-'round, I'm confident that he'll go out on his shield...Hopefully in a later round. I believe in him & my (our) Jazz.

I think the jazz are going to have their best game in LA, since Stockton and Malone. They showed in the second half, of that game on Sunday, that they are learning how to play LA in LA. The best thing for the Jazz was to lose that season ender in LA. That gave them one free game to learn LA without having to take a loss. I think if LA was smart they would have pulled the starters, gave their bench some practice, and don't give the Jazz "your team" in front of a microscope. So they can study how you work against them, what your game plan is, and a little more time to learn. So get ready to see the best game the Jazz have TONIGHT.

Good job tonight Jazz. I thought this was a much better game than we've seen in a while. We brought a lot more toughness and stayed with them for a good part of the game. "As much as I respect Williams, I have no respect for Harpring. That guy is a bull in a china-shop. No skills at all. Any guy who's whole game depends on the Refs letting you get away with stuff has no business playing"
I'm not sure it you've heard of this person or not . . . maybe you have. His name is Shaquille O'neal. If my memory serves me correctly I believed he had played in L.A. for a minute a few years back. Anyway . . . What do you think his game is based on? His entire game consists of knocking people back and back until he's under the basket and can get a layup. Shaq commits an offensive foul every time he has the ball, but the refs let him get away with it. How many of those 3 championships do you think the Lakers would have gotten if Shaq wasn't allowed to get away with everything? If you say anything above 0 you're an idiot.
Jazz fans talking about poster ideas for game 3:
but only if MVP means "rapist""

The hell?
"LA may lead 2-0, but at least our Jazz Dancers aren't strung out meth heads"
Some of these idiots are immature and pathetic.
95% are what you just said ![]()
^I saw a few people saying "enough with the bryant/fish jokes" though. It's just awful that anybody could joke about something that serious. When people's lives are at stake, it's not funny. And the kobe rape jokes are reeeaaallly old after the past 8 hundred years.. Although i won't lie, the "if you rape the Jazz do I get an apology ring too?" sign idea kind of made me laugh because of the play on words.. Still annoying though.
I've been saying for a while now that this team is the best the league has to offer, and by reading these comments, I only feel stronger about saying this team is the best.
I totally agree with you here. It's easy to get carried away and be too hard on our team and not realize how everyone else fears them.
Kobe was just simply too good tonight. The 3 3's while he was on the bench absolutely killed us. Oh well it was either this or lose to them in the WCF. Maybe we'll have some positive moves this summer. At least I won't have to stay up until 2 AM anymore.
The only way we can win this series if Kobe gets hurt. Just lost 4 of 5 against them already. It's over.
If I could dream though, Rockets in 7
we have the talent to hang with them for the first 3 quarters
the problem been the 4th quarter
both Artest and Brooks needs to bring their A game for us to have a chance
both been real inconsistent
And I don't worry about them being complacent, most of these guys weren't involved with all of the Rockets' failures besides Yao and Battier(and I am never worried about them showing up ready to play). I'm quite confident they will be ready to go and will play hard.
I think we can at least push them to 6 games, but anything more is probably not very realistic. Then again, that's why you play the games!
odom ~= aldridge
fisher/farmar/vujacic > blake/sergio
kobe > roy
gasol > pryz
bynum > oden
walton < fernandez
...and the blazers were a decent match for us
...
Prior to this I'd been pretty optimistic about this series, but suddenly i don't feel so good.
assuming bynum's range doesn't extend out to 15ft, our defense should be decent as long as he's on the floor and yao can cheat off him to help on gasol/kobe like he did in the last series to help on roy/lma.
when they go 'small' with odom at pf and gasol at C like they did increasingly against the jazz, we're gonna have trouble.
one thing is that both brooks and lowry have the speed to beat old man fish clean off the dribble. what they do once they've beaten him is gonna be key for us. if they can draw some fouls on the laker big men the extra pressure could be a significant factor considering our ideal offense works inside out.
lakers sweep: annoyed
lakers in 5: disappointing
lakers in 6: expected
anything better: lots of jumping up and down and yelling at the television
They think they have a right to be all those things. Just because the team had the most wins in the conference and rolled over everyone by at least 11 games. Just because of a history of 14 championships, Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Kareem and Kobe Bryant. Just because of Jack Nicholson and other stars of other industries. Just because they're the only team that doesn't have to wear white at home. Just because they get the highest TV ratings, sell the most jerseys and is the most profitable. Just because it's the last team to go back to back to back. Just because of Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant.
Just because all that, they think they're all that.
Huh.
Bastards.
3 titles , 2 NBA Finals, and you???
you past 1 round in 12 years and you think you can beat anybody,it's sad how much rockets fans are ignorants about basketball.
WE can't defend that. We lose. The Lakers will run us to the ground using that play.
pau and kobe pick and roll is our sweet and butter...for clutch momentss but we need our shooters on this game....cause they will let them open so they have to knock down some shots for us to win easily
Quote:
This is ridiculous. Why does everyone talk about how great the Lakers are and how many weapons they have. Let's not forget that the Rockets are great and have many weapons, too. The only difference is that they have Kobe. I think Landry and Scola are on a par with Gasol and Odom. I think that Aaron and Lowry are more talented than Fisher and Farmar. I think that Ariza doesn't have anything on Battier. I think Wafer will crush Vujacic and Barry will outsmart Walton. I think Yao will dominate Bynum. The only question is whether Artest and Battier can neutralize Kobe. Somehow, the Celtics manhandled the Lakers last year, and we should be able to borrow from the Celtics' playbook this year. Rockets in 6.
talk about stretching it... on what planet is gasol/odom on par with aaron and lowry...this guy is smoking some grade A stuff.
can someone please post some more of the celtic fans reactions lol.. those were the funniest of them all.
Lakers in 4 and it does not matter what the Rockets try to do on D or O. Too much fire power.
Interesting stat for the Rocket fans to ponder. NO team in the history of the NBA has won a SERIES from a team they went 0-3 or 0-4 during the regular season. We found a way to beat the Rockets 4 straight times during the regular season. They are dreaming if they think they can beat us 4 out of 7 in the playoffs. The Rockets are a great defensive team but they don't have enough offensive weapons to take a series from us. Houston is not quite the hostile environment that Portland or Utah represents. Yao is big but he is also very slow and gets tired easily. Drew is strong enough to keep Yao uncomfortable out there.
here is why the lakers will win not only this series but the ring this year.
Kobe Bryant
our overall depth is downright scary.
Bynum, when he finally wakes up like he did in January, its gonna be all over
Lamar Odom, out of the remaining opponents i cant think of anyone that matches up with him
especially when he is hitting a jumper.
hussle plays from Ariza and Brown, every championship club has players like this. and they are usually the difference between a two point win and a two point loss.
no other team has 3 or 4 players you have to double team. Its no secret when Ariza and fisher has been hitting so many open shots.
Shannon Brown will be the X Factor in this series.
I think Drew and Fish will have a huge series and be the difference makers.
Turnovers and fast break points killed them though... they got sucked into the Lakers' game a little too often. They calm down and play their game, they can take this series.
But one thing they gotta be careful about...and that's not to self-destruct themselves. This team needs Wafer and Artest, and needs them to play smart basketball.
I think today the Chinese fans will definitely change their point of view on Kobe. He is very popular in China but after this game, most Chinese fans will turn their favor to Lebron. Lebron is so much more of a classy and noble person than Kobe. He is the real MVP.
Great sport figures should inspire the youth. I dont think Kobe and the Lakers team are good examples for youth by encouraging dirty and backstabbing behaviour.
The Lakers played like thugs tonight but only Scola and Artest stood up to them. The other players did not even come to the defense of their team mates when the Lakers confronted them. What a bunch of p****** these Rockets are. They even meekly allowed the Laker scrubs to do lay up drills without anyone being bashed or sent to the floor. I bet even the management is also made up of pussycats who would not complain to the head of the Stern gang about the referees. For crying out loud Joey Crawford was allowed to referee this game and what did the Rockets management expect? Only JVG had the nerve to stand his ground in this organization but guess where he is now?
Times like these justifies why I think society of going down the drain. Children idolize such rats like Kobe Bryant. When a guy who is just so damn cocky that he think's he's bigger than god and thinks he can have his own way just makes people more and more corrupt...I am truly disgusted by your post sir, and I hope that there are less people like you who idolize such a crook, and more people who would idolize people like Dikembe, Yao, and Shane who are absolute role models and deserve nothing but the best, but they don't because you people like you.
FACT: They are NOT tough. They are a bunch of glitz and glamor pretty boys who have great skills, but don't have toughness outside of Kobe. They are going out of character to be something they are not. They failed miserably vs. the Celtics when they tried to do that. Gasol was manhandled, Odom disappeared, Fisher was outplayed, and Kobe got frustrated.
Damn....
Lot of good stuff....
I didn't think the officiating was THAT bad, but it was definitely in the Lakers' favor.
There's also a "I hate Kobe Bryant" thread going on...

Anyway, I've really grown to like reading other forums - it's nice to see how fans of other teams see the game.
Basically the message that they're conveying is that:
1) Still very confident that they can win the series.
2) Bryant, Fisher, Vujacic, and Odom are dirty and classless.
3) The refs are horrible.
seeing yao getting out of 1st round = happy
seeing derek fisher suspended = happy
seeing king james m*rd*r kobe = hellllla happy
we got the ghetto boy
we got the bench
we got the superstar
we got the defense
we got the defensive player of the year
we got the spirit of champ
we got the dunk leader
we got the artentina
we aint got the offence :
ah i dont care one bit bout what they gotta say...really, after reading their comments. Kobe's made to be hated like that. Yes, Fish did commit a very bad foul that was not likable at all, and that flagrant called on Artest last night was a big mistake by the refs, but this is going too far. However the officiating has been, it hasn't been SIGNIFICANTLY in one teams favor. nothing even close to changing the outcome of a game. And the "Lakers are dirty" excuse is laughable. Thats when you know they're just looking for a reason to hate whoevers beating them. These Lakers? dirty? no way. Anyways, let them love LeBron. They played him very well in the reg season and he didn't respond. Different story with Kobe. Every team we beat the past couple seasons has always brought "bad ref" comments from opposing fans...
