wow look at the refs deciding the games

I actually don't think Kobes is playing bad. The Celtics have an easy game plan. It's called five on one and let the others beat us. It is working and will keep working until a few guys by the name of ________, step up and help Kobe. Rad was absolutely horrendous and to top it off, Luke follows his play. It is so difficult to watch players slack off in the finals. This is where players leave it all out there. Just like Powe did. Who? Powe. Who? I cannot believe he had 21 points and got to the line more than Kobe. I will say though, did the Lakers really drive enough to get the foul calls? I don't think so.

How is this for frustration... I wrote about Laker-Celtics match-ups in one of the "upcoming match-ups" thread and detailed all the different benefits of having Kobe guard Rondo instead of having him chase Ray Allen all over the floor... What is frustrating is that coaching "wisdom" in this series came from fans posting on the forum and not PJ on the actual court. I mean if I (for heavens sake) thought Kobe should guard Rondo almost a week ago, why the hell didn't PJ do this from game on?! I mean this was a brilliant move, but it could have been made in Game 2, at the very least.

I just wanna know have Lamar, Pau or Dfish said anything about their reasons for not showing up in the series yet?, especially Mr. Inconsistent himself Lamar Odom?

cmon odom's giving a great effort, he just needs to be more aggressive on offense, and make his shots

dfish was good until the last game, its was probably hard to notice because everyone else was doing so bad

if anyone is mr inconsistent, it's pau, he iss great at times and disappears minutes later

I agree and disagree at the same time. Yes Pau is inconsistent but he's inconsistent for two reasons in this series:

1. He doesn't do well with physical play.

2, They go to him early and forget about him the rest of the game.

The disagree part is Odom. He has as much talent as anyone in the league but has been inconsistent his whole career, thats his problem.

Its why he's been on so many different teams and is still just now 29.

If he ever becomes consistent he'll be devastating but I wouldn't hold my breath!

No emotion, like we dont care we are in the finals. We just want to go home. Well it was a wild year! I hope we can make a few minor tweeks and be in this thing again next year. I am just sad we have Vlad on this team. That is the #1 most WORTHLESS basketball player ever!!! Just cut our losses and tell him he can leave! We need someone in the with some heart and some balls to stand up to people. We also need a player who can rebound the ball, which I think Bynum will do. I think the future looks bright, but a rough way to end the season! GO LAKERS!!!!

Can you possibly provide an example of how the refs screwed the Lakers. They never played a full game and spent to much time whining about calls, and not enough time playing the game.

i think the only time the lakers were screwed by the refs was in game 2.

and if there are any other trolls in here, please dont say "well what about lakers against utah, or lakers against spurs on the last shot".. pleeeassse.. two wrongs still dont make a right.. besides, the arguement there is that utah IS the number 1 fouling team, and against the spurs with the no call, the lakers were still the ones being screwed in that game as well..

other than that, we really did get an a$$ whoopin last night.. it looked like freshmen were playing a scrimmage game against the high school seniors..

i can take this loss, the one that still bothers me tho is game 4.. it just shows that veterans will always beat youngins.. theyr just much smarter.. they dont go for blocks, they go for charges.. they dont reach, they cut off lanes.. celtics is a good combination of young talent and veteran leadership, and i think thats what the lakers front office will be working on this summer..

Whatever they do this offseason, the lakers need to get a player with a lot of mental toughness.

I just feel sorry for tattoo from power 106 who lost a bet and now has get a tattoo of a celtic clover on his butt! whats worse: a tat of "i slept with shaq" on his forehead or a celtic clover on his butt? theyr both equally bad.. haha!

clutchkb24: You're one of the few who has recognized Boston's gameplan. Not too many people no matter who they are can win with you shooting over three hands going up at your shot. Boston has pretty much played a box and one on Kobe from the looks of it. However people are complaining about Kobe not getting up 30 plus points, well damn, he's been doubled and triple teamed the whole series when he gets anywhere near the paint, at one time I even saw five people on him. The guy is a human, not an android. On top of that, he's the only one who has shown any common sense when guarding Pierce.

I find it funny how you basically dissed the entire roster but made Kobe out to be some sort of hero. Not mentioning the fact that the only game he played well is when he attacked their defense and got to the line but then completely forgot about that gameplan the rest of the series while he continued to jack up 25 footers. How about placing some blame on Kobe, you act like EVERYONE pretty much screwed up but Kobe.

Heart of a Champion, well it sure didn't show in the elimination game in which he shot 7-22 and only had 5 freethrows for the entire game while odom had 16. It sure didn't show while he took 9 three pointers in this game that he never took before. Even lebron had 40 plus in an elimination game. Kobe finished with 22 and 1 assist. That's what you call heart of a champion though right?? EVERYONE needs to take blame for these finals. Kobe's not exempt!

u got that right L. kobe should also take some blame. the one thing i will say though is he did try and get his heartless teammates involved and he played hard himself but kobe is the captain and he just didnt produce like he did in the previous three playoff series. the whole team needs to take blame from the coaching staff to the players. oh btw, i hope this puts an end to all of the kobe/jordan comparisons. ive sat here and read numerous childish posts on how kobe has greater skill than mj and how he is a superior player. that puts en end to that. kobe is a great player that will go down as ONE of the best shooting guards of all time but he will never be like mike.

cyclone nicky: Imagine with me for a second that Bryant has a Scottie Peppen in his prime to go war against Boston. Do you think Scottie would have made more of an impact than one of our current players? Do you think Scottie playing the facilitator and having the ability to shoot, drive, finish and dish would have helped out? How about Scottie playing D on Pierce because he knows how to D up?

Also, let's imagine that Boston isn't allowed to play a zone defense on Kobe, some sort of box and 1 on Kobe and see what happens. Even back in the 90's if you faked a double team and went back sometimes they would call an illegal defense on you. The zone type defense has taken away individualism in the game and has made it a team sport that reqires more than one individual doing their thing. I'm glad they kind of implemented it because I couldn't watch Miami and NY games with finals scores of 62 to 59.

Jordan got to play in that zone-free era and that makes a big difference offensively, it didn't just effect the bigs now, it effected any sort of isolations.

I really feel that Jordan had less responsibility with the Bulls when comparing Kobe with the Lakers.

You are sure right on the zone defense. I thought at the time, and I will always believe, that allowing the instatement of the full zone defense into the League, was and is one of the worst decisions that the League has made in recent years.

gem if this is a kobe/jordan comparison u have to give it a rest. kobe has not endured what jordan had to go through. from hand checking allowed to clotheslines being considered just a hard foul. im sure mj would have loved to play the game with todays rules.

had this current laker squad played against the knicks teams of the early 90's or the bad boy pistons, they would not even have won a game. if our players were afraid and showed no toughness against this celts team, imagine what would happen if gasol and odom saw a frontcourt of ewing, oakley, and mason with starks clotheslining players in the backcourt. they would probably miss a game due to a phantom migrane headache much like the great scottie pippen did against the pistons in game 7 of the 1990 ecf where the pistons beat the bulls. same with the bad boy pistons where they didnt even care if they ended your career if you drove in the lane. kobe has it very good now compared to what jordan had to go through.

Cyclone Nicky: You have made some valid points. As far as the Kobe/Jordan comparisons I only offerred a somewhat different way of looking at things. I usually don't make comparisons between players and rarely bring them up. As far as MJ playing through the hand check and clothesline era, you're absolutely right Kobe hasn't had to endure that, but MJ didn't have to endure a career of it either, he soon became untouchable. If you breathed on Mike wrong it was a foul call.

You brought up the whole squad and I know without a doubt our crew isn't tough enough to go up against any of those old school squads. We were getting pushed around by KG of all people so I know our squad is too finesse-like. I think people have to realize Jordan had a bona-fide team and he is given way too much credit in my personal opinion. What I mean by that is that thye act as if Jordan was carrying bums the whole time. Most teams would have killed to have a player like Horace Grant, Dennis Rodaman, SCottie like I mentioned and to surround them with dead eye shooters also was icing. The Bulls weakness was always the center position, but at least their centers could knock down open 15-17 footers so it still was all good.

u bring up great points gem. the bulls team on paper wasnt magnificent but they had all of the right role players, not to mention 3 of the best defenders in NBA history in rodman, pip, and mj. their 3 point shooting specialists were also some of the best in history. kerr, tucker, and armstrong rank in the top ten of all time 3pt % with kerr being first and they also had hodges and paxson. we just dont have the right mix now. im not saying we need 5 new players but i would like to see us part ways with at lest 2 or 3 at the most. our team is just too soft and lacks toughness. i hate to say it but i was serious last night when i made a post about us having less international players on our team. truth is even though they are skilled and play the game the "right way", they definitely lack toughness. not all, but most. i say keep gasol and sasha and do away with the rest. and that includes shipping ronny back to france.

Nicky I think you were right on the money, including the ronny comment. What's the point of having a cheerleader when we need someone to produce. No doubt I love the guys attitude, personality, and joy for the game. But he's undersized as a center, he's undersized as a powerfoward, he's not a rebounder (quoted from Phil Jackson himself) and he can't score, so what's he doing??

Nicky: That was too damn funny about Ronny. I noticed Ronny's deficiencies when Pau Gasol missed nine games, e would kick out layups that he should have had to a three point shooter and he wasn't getting any boards. On top of that he looks lost when he has to do something on offense besides shoot a wide open jump shot. I seriosuly think he watched the bootleg version of James Edwards "How to score in the post" video. He tries to shoot a turn around jumper in the post and it barely grazes the rim half the time.

Also about the Bulls, I tell people it's about the mix of players on a team and the Bulls had one of the greatest mixes I've ever seen when you talk about shooters rebounders, energy guys like Levingston and the Bulls teams were quick so they could rotate pretty fast to open shooters.

LKnight: I don't belive Ronny is undersized as a PF, Cneter yes, PF no. Look at players like Jason Maxiel and Paul Millsap, Ronny has just as much athleticism as those guys if not more but he just doesn't utilize it. He needs to take off the I love Kobe shirts, put the Kobe bobblheads in his closet take off the Kobe shoes and invest in some Nike Force big men shoes and ban himself from the Olympics so he can overhaul his game. He was a dissappointment to me this year.

I sure hope we make some sort of move. I am sick of seeing such a weak team. I mean Gasol need to be at the 4 spot, and with Bynum he will and that will help. But we do need a TRUE SF. I am hoping we can pull Artest, but I would take Posey for sure. I mean if we had LO and Posey we could start LO and bring Posey off the bench. Or with Artest we could start Artest and bring LO off the bench at the 3 or the 4. I think we really need to help our SMALL FORWARD spot!!!

People talk about getting Posey, but I'm sure Posey will stay in Boston, great defensive team with vets. We do need to get a SF though, or maybe Ariza may be the person that we need.

secondly, Denver is a much more talented team than us. I really wish we could take back some of those terrible contracts we gave up dumb players. We are basically playing soft players. Fisher is old and should just sit at home and take care of his daughter, he is stealing money at this point.

Iam really disappointed with today's game....We all as a Laker fan has the right to be disappointed...I don't care if we lose a game but how we lose the game that makes most of us very upset...Looks like we are going on a tougher road to win this series. Hopefully, our team is tough enough to own this series....

On a brighter side....guys this is a 7 game series!!! that's the beauty of a best of 7....Good teams seldom lose on a 7 game series...

why do people keep talking about JR smith.. we should be bashing the roster from top to bottom...this loss is especially bad, because we loss so badly on the boards. there is no way we win a ring with this squad.. we need another year or two to win. The Lakers/Nuggets series had never recorded a double digit victory until Monday night, which saw a blow out victory for the Nuggets. The Nuggets out muscled and out rebounded the Lakers and managed to grab 58 boards to the Lakers 40. Some might say that the series is split and we still have home court advantage. However, the truth is that save for some steals by Ariza, the magnificent all around play by Kobe and Gasol's offensive contribution, this humiliating pounding by the Nuggets would have marked the end of the Lakers season. Throughout the for games they had the energy and momentum throughout the game but the series is miraculously split.

The series continues in LA and If the support cast do not pick up the slack we might find ourselves going to Denver a game down. Some of the Lakers players a just nonchalant with games. Odom and Bynum in particular.

They should realize that this is not the rockets without three stars, they struggled to beat in seven games. This is the Nuggets, that has Lakers boggie man, billups, talented forward, anthony, three tough and energetic bigmen in andersen, nene, and martins and a trump card in JR Smith.

Kobe and Gasol are tired, Ariza is bangged up. If the rest of the Lakers don't bring their A game in game 5, I am sorry to say, there will be no championship this year.

unfortunately we have to toughen up our cajones and win game five first before we can win game six.
