Starting FIVE With all the trades that has gone down this season, the NBA is now better than ever. With that , this could be the most unpredictable race to the chip the NBA has ever seen. As many as 9 teams in the West; namely LA Lakers, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans, Utah, Houston, Golden State and Denver, could be in the hunt and as many as 5 in the East with Boston and Detroit the clear favorites and Orlando, Cleveland and Toronto settle for leftovers. I have ranked them thinking how important they are for their team as well as individual perofomance. Let me breakdown for you the starters for each of the contending teams and give them their rankings. Point Guards: Rafer Alston, Houston. 12.2ppg, 3.4rpg, 5.7apg, 1.8 threes made pg. Chauncey Billups, Detroit. 17.5ppg, 2.8rpg, 7.1apg, 91ft%. Jose Calderon, Toronto. 13.0ppg, 3.1rpg, 8.9apg, 54%fg and 93%ft. Baron Davis, Golden State. 22.0ppg, 4.8rpg, 8.0apg, 2.2 threes made pg. Derek Fisher, Los Angeles. 12.4ppg, 2.2rpg, 2.9apg, 42% 3fg. Daniel Gibson, Cleveland. 11.5ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.5apg, 2.3 threes made pg. Allen Iverson, Denver. 26.6ppg, 3.0rpg, 7.3apg, 21.spg. Jason Kidd, Dallas. 11.1ppg, 8.0rpg, 10.4apg, 37%fg Jameer Nelson, Orlando. 11.2ppg, 3.8rpg, 5.6apg. Steve Nash, Phoenix. 17.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 11.5apg, 2.2 threes made pg. Tony Parker, San Antonio. 18.7ppg, 3.0rpg, 5.9apg. Chris Paul, New Orleans. 20.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 10.8apg, 2.7spg. Rajon Rondo, Boston. 10.7ppg, 4.4rpg, 4.7apg, 1.7spg. Deron Williams, Utah. 19.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 9.7apg, 52%fg. This is a tough bunch to rank because you have a combination of "old" and "new" point guards with different kinds of....

nice work, it would be great if you could deactivate smilies in this thread Wink

that was a long one... good breakdown, though.

Great post, and thankyou for not being bias, many people would of had the lakers even more ahead but i think its just about right

WOW great post Randy. I agree.. after looking at that, I can say that we look good to be the champs this year!

With all teams at full strength, I think only three teams in the entire league can compete with us; Spurs, Boston and Detroit. I am not even scared of Dallas and Phoenix, IF we are in full strength.

As we are right now, I don't even fear the Spurs... Add a healthy Bynum and Ariza to the mix, and we're damn near unstoppable...

Great work man!

now that yao's injured, that leaves houston with a score of 22? oh wait, there's a gimme point of one for last place, so they get 23.

ouch. i would've liked to see a rockets-lakers matchup; i think it would've been pretty close.

The funny thing is that this doesnt even take into count our bench, which is in my opinion by far the best in the league
