Hi My family and I are Laker Fans. My 79 year old mother Olivia Medina loves the whole team!!! I moved back to California a year ago and before I moved back my family especially my mom made me a fan. I watched the All Star Game and saw all the gifted players. Of course we root for the Lakers. My grandparents came to California in the 1920's and my parents were both born here and then us. We are proud of our heritage. My mom and Dad actually visited Spain when my older brother (now 58) was in the Navy and my parents and he visited Europe for 4 weeks. My mom thought the Greeks were the most handsome men. She always loved my Dad (he went to heaven 2 years ago from heart diease) he was a fan too. My niece who played basketball in high school reminds us of what Grandpa use to say when the ball wouldnt go in for the Lakers "It juuuust wooont goooo in"
So thank you for letting us watch you and Kobe and the rest of the Team watch great Basketball. I am a Hospice Nurse and I love what I do. You are amazing and each one of you who cares for the less fortunate on my heroes in my book.
God Bless and Go Lakers!!!!!

Oh No! Pau has a new girlfriend really? Oh shucks! My heart is totally broken! I was hoping it would be me!!! Just kidding! Well. It was only a matter of time and he would find someone new. He is too good looking and too talented and seems like a really sweet person to be single any too long.
Please provide pictures of the new lovely lady in his life.
I'm sure she is first class just like he is.
Congratulations Pau on winning the championship! Best wishes!

On last comment about the g/f. He had a g/f in 2006. The must have broken up.
Recently Pau has said, he is single and there is no g/f. He does not want to get married yet. He wants to have fun. Can't say I blame him.
I thought the former g/f was pretty. She resembled Angelina Jolie a bit but that is just me. :D
by Raven
Pau' girlfriend is cute, but I believe a man of his caliber, talent level, and attractivness can do better.
by Edward Norrington
This trade most likely wouldn't have happened...Pau would be heading for the Bulls...or maybe just staying put in Memphis...but, Bynum & the Lakers would have been rolling and Bynum would have been an All-Star...as much as I didn't like seeing Bynum go down, it looks like it was one of the best things that could have happened for the Lakers...
by kb24_4life
i think we would have. i forgot who it was in lakers organization that said we have been working on getting him for a year now. who wouldnt trade what we did to get pau whether bynum is healthy or not.
by cyclone_nicky
I think we would've NBA GM's are constantly talking about any possilbe scenario, so I think it's a given that Mitch would give up Kwame for Gasol.
by yearight
If you've read any articles Mitch started to look for a fill in for Bynum when he got injured. So if Bynum wouldn't have gotten injured we would not have traded for Gasol.
by griZZly64
No. We would've never gotten Pau if Bynum didn't get injured. But even still, weren't we the #1 seed in the West when Bynum started to really hit his stride? And wasn't it Kobe who even said along the lines of "we're a championhip team with Bynum on the lineup"?
Either way, Gasol or not, we were championship contenders, albeit merely as dark-horse picks with only Bynum. With Gasol paired up with Drew however, we are catapulted into NBA Finals status.
Either way, these are good times to be a Laker fan. =P
by PinoyLakerFan24-7
I dont think we would have made this trade.Bynum was playing really good ball and getting better every game, plus there is know way we loose some of the games we lost.So the front office would not have pressure to do anything. If we did make a trsde LO would have been the one gone.Even though I wanted them to keep the team together.
by toprol
we prob. wouldnt traded for pau

First of all i would like to say that i'm very excited and happy that the Lakers pulled this deal...
I'm thinking bout it today, if Drew Bynum never have gotten injured, will Kupchack ever pull this trade???
would we still have Pau Gasol, if Bynum were to stay healthy?
just wondering bout this... but for those of us (im sure it's all of us) who felt what a misfortune is Bynum's injury to our team... we might have been lucky that it resulted to such a great outcome in acquisition of PAU GASOL...
The Future Looks Very Bright!!! Go Lakers
by mecca82
Iono maybe we should see how lamar does when everyone is back healthy.. Recently ive seen lamar post up and take it hard to the basket than shooting jumpshots.. but we'll see.. i agree with everyone elses opinions though about starting him on the bench.. but give him another chance when everyone comes back
by sneakerhead24
we are already the best rebounding team in the leauge with Bynum in the lineup and now we get another big men and good rebounder, ... we gonna dominate everyone on the boards!!!!
by limpy
I personally think there will be TOO MUCH scorers if they move Odom out for say someone like Artest. With Pau averaging 19, and Bynum averaging another 20 now days and Bryant averaging 24-30, that would be perfect for Odom. I mean somebody on the court has got to be the passer and rebounder. And his fg% is pretty good when he lets the game come to him.
I mean look at the Nuggest, Iverson + Anthony ...and they arent getting anywhere. The Lakers have 3 starters that are perfectly capable of having high points per game. Odom can now have the oppurtunity to play the game he enjoys, being the Passer + rebounder. The stat stuffer. Making him more effecient.

I heard ric bucher talkin bout the big trade today and he said bynum could possibly be out the rest of the year has anyone heard this or is bucher just bein himself talkin shi$$$$$$

Welcome back, Cnick! Glad to have you back.
Okay so this is my lineup, when everyone is healthy:
Fisher / Farmar
Kobe / Sasha / Karl
Ariza / Luke / Vlad-Rad
Gasol / Lamar
Bynum / Turiaf / Mihm
I personally think that is a sick 1st unit, and second unit. We would have Lamar coming off of the bench.
I say either go with the lineup that I mentioned or go with this:
Fisher / Farmar
Kobe / Sasha / Karl
LO / Ariza / Luke
Gasol / Turiaf
Bynum / Mihm
We could also have Gasol play the 5 at times.
We have so many options now. Also, don't forget, we have two open roster spaces, so maybe we can sign a veteran player like Patterson or some big man.
This was an amaizing trade, that gives us so many different options.
thanks bay bay. i agree, this trade gives us many options but i will have to keep going back to my original post and say that i dont think odom will work out at the three for us. it failed earlier in the season. he may be best suited coming off the bench for us but i have a serious problem with a 14 mil a year bench player.
I would trade him for a SF, but who? I don't think PHX would do Marion for LO, anymore. If they would, I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Maybe Artest and Thomas for LO. The only thing is that we take a horrible contract from Thomas. I really can't think a trade for a SF that we can get for Odom. We might have to have a player making 13 million dollars come off the bench. Lets see what Phil does. I trust Phil to come out with the best lineup possible.
i would take thomas' bad contract to get artest. keep in mind, artest can help contain forwards like bron, pierce, marion, j howard, and melo. odom cant except for marion a little.
by cyclone_nicky
Well What Happen To The Kirlienko Rumors? Then Maybe Josh Smith And Some Fillers? Or Maybe Corey Maggette Or Should Have Also Gotten Mike Miller And Juan Carlos Navarro. And Those All The Options I Got.

Right That What Will Happen When Bynum Come Back He Will Be The 4th Option Sorry I Was Talking About While Bynum Hurt He Be 3rd Option. Webber Must Be Mad Right Now Saying Why I Didn't Take The 10 Day Contract With The Lakers?
i got you, he will be the third until byno comes back. as far as webber goes, im am thrilled that we didnt sign him. he doesnt play defence anymore and he cant jump off the ground. its almost like he has cement shoes on. at his age, its going to take forever for him to get back in bball shape. i dont want him taking any minutes away from ronny anyway.

But As For Lamar I Would Trade Him But He Lost Trade Value In My Mind Unless You Get Larry Brown To Take Him Then Problem Solved But I Say Keep Lamar Since He Can Be The Third Option Now.
when bynum comes back, he should be the fourth.

its a decent idea but i dont think i can stomach a 14 mil a year bench player. i say we try and move him.
by cyclone_nicky
I say Lamar plays bench and we start Ariza who can guard the elite perimeter guards in the L. Odom will be much better off the bench and he will get more looks.
by noname24
sorry for creating a new thread on this but i will merge it after i read some of your responces.
first of all, im happy to be back on LTB after taking a long break. even though i have been reading everyones posts, i will start contributing soon.
i am so happy with the trade we just made. we basically got something for nothing. we recieved the second option we have been looking for by trading a backup center, a couple of low first rounders, and a rookie who wasnt going to get much playing time anytime soon. pau gasol is a bonafide pf/center in this league, and when bynum comes back healthy, we should have the best front line in the league. imagine trying to double kobe now? we will have one of the best inside/outise game in the league, if not the best. here is where vlad, sasha, farmar, and fish will come in handy. not to mention having the best player in the game playing sg for us. things are definitely looking up for us even more now than before the injuries we have recently suffered.
now my question is what to do with lamar odom. this guy has really disappointed me over and over again this season as well as the previous two seasons and im not going to turn this into a lamar hating thread since i am in a very good mood now, though i have a lot to say about him after watching him disappoint after the pistons game last night.
if bynum comes back healthy, does he start? or will he go back to the bench? we all know that the lamar playing the sf position failed because he is just not aggressive enough to take advantage of his size against the smaller three's in the league and he cant stop the elite defensively like melo, bron, pierce, j howard, as well as a few others. if gasol starts at the four, bynum at center, is phil going to put odom back at the three? i am willing to bet that there may be another deal brewing somehow. lamar cant play the three for us and shouldnt. here is where i would love to get artest somehow to defend the likes of melo, bron, and pierce. would sacto be willing to part with him if we offered odom for artest and a bad contract like kenny thomas? odom has an expiring contract next season and could somewhat help them at the four position. with ariza and luke, and vlad(part time at the three), we would be stacked at the sf position.
our lineup when healthy if bynum starts
fish, farmar,
kobe, sasha, carl
odom, luke, ariza
gasol, vlad, ronny
bynum, mihm, mbenga
if bynum is on the bench
fish, farmar
kobe, sasha, carl
luke, ariza, vlad
odom, ronny
gasol, mihm, mbenga
personally, i like the top lineup better but i dont believe that odom can play the three. maybe another trade for a sf upgrade is needed. having odom as our third option at 14 mil per is hard to stomach especially after he proved last night that he is far from a big game performer. i mean come on! he couldnt even hit the rim? 14 mil a year? gimme a break! we dont need his rebounding as much as we did before with gasol on board now so my final wish is to get artest(even though i think its a longshot with the magoofs running that organization). he would be the defensive stopper at the small forward position that we need so the other three's in the league dont kill us every night.
its good to be back guys and please share your thoughts on this...thanks
by cyclone_nicky
just think of it this way, if we do trade odom to get pao, pao will take a lot of pressure off bynum so he may develop faster. not to mention byno really improved from his first year to second and if he improves that much again going into next season, he caould be a 12 to 14 ppg scorer and about 10 boards a game as well as 2 to 3 blocks pergame.
I defenitely agree to that
by knight010703
cook and radman are the guys we will be having a hard time getting rid off
by knight010703
i dont think we're going to get much in return for a package of cook, vlad, and mihm. nor do i think any team would be dumb enough to take on all those players sorry to say.
by cyclone_nicky
i want lamar on my squad no matter what. He had so many injuries and risked a lot in helping this team. Lamars already a champ in my books.
by ODOM4Life
I agree we need a player like lamar on our team to be successful, he's a rare kind, sort of like barbosa on the suns. ODOM4life makes a good point there. I think every one wants lamar to score, but that's just not his game, if we trade him we lose our top rebound and second assist guy. In reality if the rest of the team could be more consistent on BOTH ends of the floor, especially d, I think we'll be ok. If I remember correctly most of the games we lost this year was because of bad defense. Smush is out so we're already headed in the right direciton. I would trade bynum in a package first before lamar because at this point I think the kid's still a gamble, I would wait one more season for him if we could but I don't think we have the time. AS far as Gasol goes, if he is soft we already have a problem of being soft, and he doesn't help. I would rather try to get KG. I'd rather have his desire and tenacity on the team. but all we could do is wait and see, here's hoping Mitch and Jerry doesn't disapoint.
by OCLakerfan8
Lakers do need help, injury had a little to it, even if Kwame was healthy he would still be garbage. He was good when he got hurt game 3 vs. suns. Lakers do need help. This Laker team just gave up after the allstar weakend, i dont know why but they did, and thats really disapointing. We need a couple players that wont give up and that will play hard until the last game of the season.
by LakerFire24
I say no... MLE for Grant Hill, package some players like Cook, Rad and Mihm along with the pick for another player and thats it.... I'm tired of the desperation talk. This team was injured. A PG is what we need and a veteran, not has beens like McKie and Vlade or projects like Rad, but a real Vet. Hill is like a Michael Finley type player. He would be our Ron Harper.
by KobeIsMVP

by cyclone_nicky
i know, would love to keep him, before all this i used to say bynum was gonna be our guy for the next 15 years.
But theres one thing i want more then almost anything, and thats for kobe to get those additional rings, i want him to be the greatest. Bynums probably not going to help with that, but he can definately help down the road. With the grizzlies, i think in 3-5 years they could have a championship team with bynum and durant as their centerpieces.
But if they hire Brown to coach the grizzlies, hes gonna want to win now, so that will suck.
by ODOM4Life
hes 19, hes got size, he's can catch anything, i mean the are things you want in a big man. He's already shown how much he improved footwork wise while working with karreem. Theres a lot of potential in bynum, but hes a project.
lets not forget everyone is amazed at what good of a passer he is for his age. and i like the fact that he goes after blocked shots.
by cyclone_nicky

aint that the truth. i think he still has a lot of value. centers with his size dont come around too often.
by cyclone_nicky
lets hope their GM likes bynum as much as Jim Buss
by ODOM4Life
we are in the same conference but i think memphis is basically starting from scratch so i dont think theyre going to mind trading with us especially if they want odom or bynum really bad.
by cyclone_nicky
the bad thing is he is in the same conference
by ODOM4Life
Lets hope everyone in the NBA is nice to us. Lakers is the team on top of the list that no one wants to trade to. It's going to be hard to get another superstar(s)
by LakerFire24
only good thing for us is pau wants out.
by ODOM4Life
Lets hope EVERY team is nice to us. Sadly, no one in the NBA wants to trade with the Lakers.
by LakerFire24
and it depends on how well mitch can negotiate, and even if either organization is looking in that direction. Its highly unlikely for me to get that lineup i want, but its still possible. Anythings possible
by ODOM4Life
just depends on whether they think bynum will become a bust, or a star. Hes got a good looking upside, so we'll have to wait and see. If the grizzlies get durant, theres more hope. If they get oden, theres far less hope. We'll have to just wait and see.
by ODOM4Life
There is no way we could get Gasol without giving Lamar. Maybe Bynum alone but i doubt it. They will say he is too young and we want an experienced player, and then you know who they will look to, Lamar of course. Your right, Lets hope that memphis and sacramento would be nice to us, we know SacTown is kind of by almost taking Kwame for Artest, and if Memphis will give us Gasol for Bynum, then there is no way we wont rebuild the laker dynasty.
by LakerFire24
then we'll definately be more consistnet
by ODOM4Life
very true, my point was it could be worst with artest and kobe on their own. IF we could manage to get gasol without odom, im just saying thats better incase we do have injuries, which happen a lot, and odom more often. If not, then kobe and gasol is going to probably be better team just because they have a better chance of staying healthy. Plus i said kobe, artest, lamar, and gasol was best case scenerio, not likely, just possible. The grizzlies have not won a playoff game with gasol, and i've read other places that grizzlies want to get rid of gasol, depending on whos in the office. So im just saying anythings possible.
the injury thing was just for me to say kobe with a bunch of retards and losing is better then kobe and artest losing, thats all. Thats when artest becomes a poison. Thats all i was trying to say. But gasol hasnt been hurt much in his past, so if it stays that way and we get him, good.
by ODOM4Life
thats what I've been telling to Odom4Life
since yesterday
by knight010703
you also ask the question what if gasol gets hurt next year, who will run the team. gasol besides the beginning of the year when he injured his ankle during the worlds has never really had injury problems. not to say it cant happen because it can happen to anyone, but lamar is the one who is always getting hurt and then we have to hear how its going to take a month or so before he starts getting his legs back and for his shoulder to start feeling better.
by cyclone_nicky
i dont think dismantling the whole thing is necessarily better. Most people talk like our players are trash, and many are rightfully so, but odom and luke are good players, odom obviously better. Gasol can give us good numbers, but what if he gets hurt next season, you gonna have kobe and artest run the lakers??? They gonna have so many problems because of losses and rons gonna goo crazy and start hitting people, chemistry gets destroyed, and come 2009, kobes gone. Obviously that is a worst case scenerio.
I mean at the worst we should be able to have a team of kobe, gasol, and bynum, and possibly artest. A gasol and odom trade could be worked out easily, though im very much against it. Artest for Kwame could be as well, but not necesarily easy because we're dealing with maloofs. If they could manage those two trades, then you still have bynum to use as trade value if you want to bring in another player who can contribute early on, if we package him with other players. Or we could keep bynum forver.
At best i thinks its possible to have a team of kobe, lamar, gasol, and artest.
If one of the first three players get hurt for a while, which could happen, then we'll still be alright.
i think a team with kobe, lamar, artest and gasol would be amazing but i dont understand how u think that can happen. if brown gets shipped for artest and we keep odom, how are we going to get the spanish fly? bynum alone wont do it because the numbers dont match and i dont see any way that they will accept any long term contracts from our trash players like cook and vlad. they are trying to rebuild not take on 3 to five year contracts with below average players. same goes with sacramento for artest. they have 3 huge long term deals with bibby, brad miller, and kenny thomas. they wont want any long term deals either. they are trying to get rid of their long term contracts.

If they could manage those two trades, then you still have bynum to use as trade value if you want to bring in another player who can contribute early on, if we package him with other players. Or we could keep bynum forver.
At best i thinks its possible to have a team of kobe, lamar, gasol, and artest.
If one of the first three players get hurt for a while, which could happen, then we'll still be alright.
by ODOM4Life
i like the way u think knight. if that goes down we may have a shot at splitting the mle between c bell(who is a defensive minded pg) and bonzi.
by cyclone_nicky
I think we have high chances of getting
Artest by just giving Kwame
and Gasol for Odom only.. especially if memphis gets the no.1 pick they would defenitely would love to have Odom....
so I think the only thing left to think about is a solid PG
by knight010703
walton is definitely a possibility. it be nice to have him off the bench running the triangle for us. but i cant see us keeping both.

listen guys i would like to be able to keep luke and odom and bring in some big names too but thats just not going to happen. our main goal is to bring a couple new players on our team whether its jo and artest or gasol and artest. brown and bynum alone arent going to get this done, not to mention a couple of bad contracts like vlad and cook. if we keep saying that we have to keep luke and odom on our team then we might as well bring the same team back next season and lost in the first round agian. we need changes and because of that luke and odom may have to go.
I agree
but I think we can still keep Walton

LETS hope sacramento and memphis would be nice 2 us
by knight010703
lamar is happy if he takes 5 shots or if he takes 20 shots, hes not selfish, you want a player like that on your team if you are trying to emphasize winning requires a team concept.
by ODOM4Life
i mean just thinking about having our own big 3:
kobe, lamar, and gasol is just great.
and then to pick up artest, i mean that could be one GREAT team.
there will be a few weak spots, but they can be addressed later on.
LAMAR ODOM 4 life.
by ODOM4Life
ur absolutely right about luke, and not many people understand that he is crucial in the triangle, but as far as sacrifices if i had to choose to let go of luke or lamar, i mean i choose to let go of luke.
Im one of luke's biggest fans as well, he runs our offense really well. So there is going to be a lot of tough decsions.
I just know that having two potent scorers, with lamars odom as our 3rd option already with 2 years of triangle experience, he would absolutely shine and be very good and theres no doubt in my mind about that. Hes not going to put up 25 a night, but he's going to get everyone involved, and give us tripple double like numbers so often. When everyone is involved, they play better defense. Everyone is happier, its a big part of chemistry and a pick part of succeess. Its a team game, lamar will lead the lakers to a team type game if he can be that 3rd option with kobe and gasol ahead.
by ODOM4Life
I want luke here
for the very one reason
if Kobe is resting
his the guy who will keep our triangle running
Odom4life
I'm with u man I understand u
lets just pray that our Odom can stay here
by knight010703
radmonovich did hit that big shot against the kings when we were down by 4 with a few seconds left. so maybe they might like radmonovich, and luke is known to be a fundamental solid player in the nba. They may want those two guys, never know.
by ODOM4Life
Hey Odom4Life
I know you LOVE Lamar so much to be in LA
and me to I really want him to stay here
but our chances to get guys like Gasol without giving up LO
is about 25-45%
and if were not giving up Odom
who would you trade
the 2 players that I can only think of other would be interested in is Bynum and Evans..
but those 2 are not enough to get it done...
do you think they would like Cook or Radman who has long term contracts and
has a lot of negative feedbacks this season...........

lamar odom is a warrior, i dont never want to see him go
by ODOM4Life
we'll have to see, maybe we can get lucky. IF the grizzlies wind up with oden, well then everything i hoped for is pretty much shot most likely. if they get durant, then maybe we can get lucky.
by ODOM4Life
i hate to tell u odom4life, u may have to get used to the idea of lamar not being back next season. it might be the only way to get a second option on this team.
by cyclone_nicky
I would prefer to give up Bynum and Co. but I think Odom will have to go.
by LA/LA
gasol has definately been more productive on a consistent basis however, but i think odoms game would thrive if he became the 3rd option. He's never going to say i didnt get the ball enough. He's just gonna go out there and play the game that he knows how to play, which is how your suppose to play.
by ODOM4Life
" still think Gasol would work for very well
and Gasol is better than Odom for us
coz Gasol can give us production in a consistent basis
and I think facilitating Job can be handled by Kobe and Walton well without Odom
and Odom's game could not work much if he can't be an offensive threat.... "
kobe should not handle the facilitation job, hes much more effective as the scorer in the triangle, and how can you say odoms game would not work if he cant be an offensive threat?????
the man loves to pass. He loves to get other people involved. THe man would thrive in a situation with kobe and gasol. I think odom would be the absolute best fit for the lakers with kobe and gasol in the lineup. Odom by nature is a pass first player.
by ODOM4Life
Kobes best when he's the scorer and people get him the ball where he feels he can score. When he becomes the faciliator hes less effective, for kobe standards. Hes so much better when focusing on getting in his scoring positions in the triangle.
by ODOM4Life
We need a pg who can run the offense. Kobe will be an even more affective scorer if he doesn't have to get everyone else involved. Just imagine Kobe being able to play like Rip in Detroit. He will give the defense fits for sure.
by LA/LA
from a personal standpoint, although paul has a great low post game, it's very weak when it comes to physicaality. The triangle works when there's a big strong pressence inside that wears down the opponent's starter's and bench players at the 5 position. The only way i would be happy with getting paul is if we got him by giving up lamar only. We would definetly still need to seek a high calibur point guard seeing how if we lose lamar, our need for a point guard increases a lot since he handles the ball a lot. I still think lamar has a bigger upside then gasol. and there is no way to get gasol and keep lamar unless we give bynam and all of our draft picks or something rediculous like that.
I still think Gasol would work for very well
and Gasol is better than Odom for us
coz Gasol can give us production in a consistent basis
and I think facilitating Job can be handled by Kobe and Walton well without Odom
and Odom's game could not work much if he can't be an offensive threat....
Gasol is not as strong as J. O'neal and Garnett
but his scoring ability is enough to fill that up
and his only 26
his not yet on his prime
we don't need the PG to handle the ball much
we just need a PG who can defend and a good 3pt shooter
by knight010703
Bynum, Rudy G, Durant/Odem to Grizliz
Gasol, Lamar, KB24 to LA
and all happy!!!
by 8Mau24
Bulls was succesful with the triangle without dominant big guys with them
was because they have a lot of versatile players
they have PG who can shoot 3's very well
they have 2 defensive first team guys (Pippen and Jordan)
and 2 great offensive players.....
by knight010703
good point... getting Gasol doesn't solve all problems... if we can get Gasol and get a good point guard, then we would be an elite team next season (unless injuries plague us like they did this season).......
You got it Harry, Man I still like Kidd, I just don't see making his salary work while also getting a big.
by LA/LA
if management is in love with gasol, then the deal will probably never happen. I think both clubs would come out like bandits if this trade could acutally happen. Its just Lakers come out like Bandits NOW!!!, and grizzlies have by FAR the BRIGHTEST young squad in the NBA, Durant and Bynum and their draft pick in 2008 which they'll most likey get cuz they proably wont win many games this upcoming season. Fans would love to come out and see durant and bynum play (in my opinion, but arguable). They give up pau gasol, who wants out anyway, and they are looking at potentially an incredible future. The reason we cant work like that is because the Lakers organization needs to win, we have kobe in his prime.
by ODOM4Life
its like they are getting bynum AND another star for free!! if you think about it. I doubt they would keep kwame. The man gets paid 10 million, and hes worth 2 or 3. That 15 million dollars they are under the cap, they can pick up a star with that money. So in the long run, a few years i mean, its like they picked up bynum and a future star for free (the star from the 15 mil under the cap)
by ODOM4Life
Well, thats a tough question, its all gonna depend on whether they think bynum will be good. I mean hes got a lot of upside. And hes only gonna be getting paid 3 million a year for the next few years. I mean just imagine how fast the grizzlies franchise could be turned around in 3 or 4 years. They would have 3 potentially great players (durant, oden, and whoever they pick up in 2008 draft if they dont win many games next season) They could have all of these players and STILL be under the salary cap next season. Im talking from the GM of the grizzlies standpoint. I dont see why the grizzlies would want to win now, there is no pressure on that organization.
ITs all a matter of how well they think Bynum can become. If they like Bynum, they can get him for cheap. THe grizzlies are not going to be losing much. I mean give away gasol to the lakers for bynum who gets paid nothing. Kwame gets cut next season. They are going to have 3 young players (durant, bynum, and draft pick in 2008) and still be nearly 15 million under the cap. They can sign two stars in free agency in the upcoming years, or do whatever they want with that money to actually build a championship team within 4 or 5 years. And they could have that team for 10 years. With durant, bynum, high draft pick in 2008, and 15 million to pick up stars.
by ODOM4Life
i forgot to mention that if the grizzlies only won 25 games next season, they would have another high pick in the draft in 2008. To me, building a future team, its a high possibility to trade gasol while aquring bynum, considering he WANTS OUT! But we'll just have to wait and see what pick the grizzlies get and what decsision they make.
by ODOM4Life
Lamar cant stay if we want Gasol. UNLESS, Memphis is ok with Bynum. Then, ya, just imagine, were talkin about a possible 70 win season. Do you think that Memphis will take Bynum for Gasol?
by LakerFire24
this all depends on if they get durant tho. Im just gonna pray thats the case. If the grizzlies pick oden, they may want lamar, and my favorite player may be shipped, which i dont wantt to happen.
having kobe, lamar, artest, and gasol, just imagine.
plus, if lamar gets hurt, or if gasol gets hurt, you dont have to worry about finishing the season 14-27. You still have a number 3 proven players. Same goes if any of those guys get hurt.
by ODOM4Life
The grizzlies could be a remarkable team. For one, they are nearly 8 million under the salary cap. They should not sign anyone this offseason. Imagine if they cut kwame brown the following year. After next season. They will have two of the most promising young players, Andrew Bynum and Kevin Durant, and be 18 million dollars under the salary cap in the 2007-2008 offseason. What better position can you POSSIBLY be in if you are a team wanting to rebuild. With that money, you can pick up a superstar, or two stars. I mean the opportunites are endless. Obviously they probably wouldnt be 18 mil under the cap, they may have signed a guard or somethin for a few million, but they could still be 15 million under the cap after next season if they just pick up bynum and kwame. And their future players will only be getting nearly 5 mil combined for a few years.
by ODOM4Life
mitch needs to emphasize that and put it in their minds that they could be a phenominal team in the future. If i was a grizzlies owner/manager, I would highly consider this trade. The only thing they must consider is if they think Andrew Bynum will be a great player down the road. And i feel he could be, because he has incredible hands and catches everything, hes 7 feet tall, hes ONLY 19. We however just cant wait for bynum to grow, by then kobe's going to be old. I mean its possible bynum could make an impact next year, but highly unlikely. The grizzlies should consider this trade. For one, imagine if they had Bynum and Durant as starters next season, and then they only managed to win 25 games next season. They would have the opportunity to pick up another talented player in next years draft. The GM of the grizzlies would probably be praised by alll of his fans for what he did. He could turn the grizzlies into a remarkable team.
by ODOM4Life
i think it can, and i thinks its a possibility. it could because pau gasol does not want to be in memphis from what he has stated in the past. He said he didnt even care if they got oden or durant. He has openly stated he wants out, as far as i know. And, if the grizzlies get kevin durant, then pairing him with andrew bynum would make the grizzlies one of the brightest teams of the future. I mean sending adrew bynum and kwame +sweetners may get gasol, and salaries would either match or be made to match. Kwame only has a year left, and if the grizzlies dont like him, they dont re-sign him the following year and they have an addition 10 million dollars to build on. THe grizzlies could easily make durant and bynum their franchise, and then get so much more talent around them in the near future because those two players will hardly get anything for the first few years. Combined they would make 5 million dollars probably for a few years.
by ODOM4Life
you are right. definitely get ur point, i think lamar would be an awesome 3rd option because of his versatility and his passing skills getting teammates involved. but can it happen.
by cyclone_nicky
kobe and lamar by themselves that is, without another option, wont win, just to clarify what i mean.
by ODOM4Life
when i said winning now and keeping lamar, i dont mean only kobe and lamar will win, its obvious they wont. But moving lamar to the 3rd option will two other talents as the 1st and 2nd option would benefit all three players.
by ODOM4Life
i know bynum has an upside, but hes not nessisarily gonna help build a contendor now. So management has a choice of trading lamar or bynum as the counterpiece for a star. KG may require both. As far as winning now is concerned, i would definately keep lamar. As far as wanting a team and a player with a tremendous upside for a few years down the road, then keep bynum. I mean if we get gasol for odom straight up, what good does that do. Gasol averages 5 more ppg, and lamar equals that in assists. They match the same as far as rebounds goes. Gasol has better field goal percentage, which was pretty impressive last season. But i mean Kobe and Gasol or Kobe and Odom not too much difference. Kobe and Gasol can both puth up numbers on their own, but odom makes his teammates better than gasol. Odoms way more versatile, gasols seems a better 2nd option consitently, so far. Odom would thrive as the third option and with gasol and kobe as 2nd and 1st option. Artest in their for defense and 4th option. Gasol was part of a great defensive team as a help defender, so who knows what could be. Our big three in Lamar, Gasol, and Kobe would be way better then Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson, tho i luv kidds game. I dont know how likely it could be to get a lineup of gasol, artest, kobe, and lamar, but i believe if it were posible it would be great. Its just your choice of bynum or odom, or both.
by ODOM4Life
kobe lamar artest gasol
These four players on the same team will be SICK...
throw in a good pg and you got a scary looking team
by PurpleGoldBlood
actually the chicago bulls never had a great low post presence and won 6 titles running the triangle.
by cyclone_nicky

the lineup i said earlier still wouldnt be complete tho. We'd have the MLE to find a guard, but we'd also want a shooter who can spread the floor. Those are i think minor problems that can be fixed however much easier then everything else. Someone like kapono also would be a dream.
by ODOM4Life
well all that i said earlier is if the grizzlies get the 1 or 2 pick...lol. Its likely, but not guaranteed.
by ODOM4Life
I dont think lakers have any good solid player that they could give away other than Lamar, and like i said before, no team will give there superstar bigman away for mediocracy. (except sacramento giving away Artest for garbage => )
by LakerFire24
no i have a feeling LO will be gone but u never know.
by cyclone_nicky
If lakers get Gasol or KG, Kobe is not going to average 30 points. Kobe will average 22, 23 points and about 7, 8, or 9 assists. If lakers got KG he would put in 24, 25 points and 12, 13 boards, or if lakers got Gasol he would make 20, 21 points and 8, 9, or 10 boards. Now, if we keep Lamar, Lamar would make about 15 PPG, 8 RPG, and 5 APG. I dont think any other team would stand a chance. Were looking at a 65 win season maybe a little more. Sadly, I HIGHLY doubt lakers could get KG or Gasol without giving up Lamar.
by LakerFire24
I think gasol puts up fantastic numbers, and i would luv to see him in LA bear we cant get kevin garnet. I would luv it even more if management could find a way to keep lamar, gasol and kobe on the same team.
kobes 30-6-6,
gasols 20-10-3, and
lamar +/-20-10-6+ potentially
thats potentially 70 ppg from your big three.
if we manage to get artest in their, we add 15 points, and we got 85 ppg potentially, and solid defensive potential.
If the grizzlies draft durant, they would come out like bandits if they had bynum and durant as their future. if they get oden, then we'll probably have to give up odom, unless they still get bynum to use later for trade value.
theres a lot of good things that could happen, but then theres also a lot of garbage that can happen with mitch there.
We'll have to wait and see what the laker management can get done.
either scenerio would be sweet for us.

26 yrs.
PPG= 20.8
FG= .538
3pt FG= .273
FT%= .748
RPG= 9.8
APG= 3.4
SPG= 0.5
BPG= 2.1
I think if Garnett deal won't happen
Gasol should be the no. 2 option
can really fit to our system
can play effectively at C/PF
good scorer
good passer
good defender
descent rebounder
cheaper than Garnett/O'neal
and we don't have to give 2-3 players
resume at playoffs is not so good
especially in rebounding
but scoring is still good
and I think Bynum and Mihm can fill up the rbs. in playoff time
