I am still on the side that we will not get KL, but if I'm Lebron this is what I would tell KL (re-posting from another thread.)

  1. You want rest? Between the 3 of us we could all take time off on different games to rest throughout the season and still be a top seed.

  2. You want to win, we for sure would win next year and better chance then anyone going forward.

  3. You like staying away from the media, don't worry Lebron is still going to take the brunt of all media for the Lakers, you can still hang out in the background.

  4. You already won a ring on your own team, you will not get killed like KD did for joining a 73 win team. This would be like when me and Bosh joined Wade.

  5. You want your money? Sign a 2 year deal and then sign a new 5 year deal as a 10+ vet. Signing a 5 year deal now under the 30%, is a lot different then 5 year deal at 35%.

  6. Regardless of anything, winning as a Laker is better then winning as a Clipper.

  7. This will be KL's and AD's team for the next 10 years if you want, after I'm gone. 2 Top 5 playrs in their prime in Lakers uniform, does it get any better for a player?

I think he waived it mainly because Lakers need a solid 4 good players too fill out a playoff rooster of a 7-8 guy rotation and every million count in getting those players. AD just gave up how much by declining a super max? that 4 million never meant anything to him. Why would he say he would waive it when first traded, if he didn't need to yet.

I would only offer the max to Kawhi or Kyrie. I don’t care they surround them with soda cans. Lebron relinquishing his # 23 jersey to AD is a fantastic gesture and the timing was perfect. These kind of gestures mean a lot to players, also indicates that he is willing to take a (slightly) back seat and allow the younger stars to shine.

If this is all LeBron has to say, he should stay home. These are pretty lame reasons to join the Lakers. lol.

This is what i have been hearing and reading all along with some more behind the scenes media members. The main stream media members though were trying to tell a different story because a lot of them do not want to see the Lakers get back to the top. They are trying to deter free agents to want to come here. I think some of it is other teams paying them off to tell all these bad stories on the lakers. At least that is what i have been hearing anyways. I can definitely see this being the truth.

I have to say though I have been a skeptic of Rob these past couple years but so far he is showing us what he can really do. I am still going to wait and see how he finishes out this roster but I will say my confidence in him to make this roster legit has gotten a lot higher now. I am really starting to get excited for Sunday!! Event though i know we aren't going to hear anything probably until at least early to mid next week on decisions from the top tier.

Why KL? He plays the same position as LBJ. I get he's great, but then what? IF he comes here. Move LBJ to the 4 and sit Kuzma down? When in reality AD prefers to the 4 spot? Butler is anxious suddenly to come here. And take less than max. Maybe he's the go to? Although he plays 3 as well lol. But has spent time at the 2. A 6'8" SG? KL is 6'7", I guess he could move to the 2? We'd have a big azz team if either one comes along. Get Brook for the mid level? Still no PG tho. Have all that talent then go with Caruso or Rondo? LOL

To summarize. We gave up 3 young starters, 4 first found picks, and now added 3 bench players and a 2nd round pick, to get AD. Wow.

Now its in the news that AD waives his kicker and Lakers starts the FA with 32M. The problem is the media inventing stories which are mostly fake news for their own personal interest and people starts believing in them. In the corporate world, there are plenty of solutions available for this financial problem which can circumvent this cap policy. What matters is Las Vegas has the Lakers on top of the odds to win the championship this coming season and that matters because Las Vegas odds makers means big money is involved so their sources of news is more or less credible.

To be honest he's icing on the cake to me. I'm fine with AD and James, and filling out roster too.

But if you can get him, than HELL YEAH !!!

To summarize what we gave up:

A starter in Brandon Ingram.

If Lonzo had a different name and was drafted #2, he would not be a starter. However I’ll agree he is a starter, because of his potential.

Josh Hart is not a starter, so we did not give up 3 starters.

Wagner was a late 1st round pick

2 of the 3 picks we gave up will be late 1st round pick.

And we gave up 1 good pick in the number 4, which we got lucky to have even get.

So in my assessment we gave up, 2 starters, 2 bench, #4 pick and 2 guys who will probably not be in league 2 years from now. And a crappy 2nd round pick

Exactly, hell yeah! I gotta say, Leonard is just about the most premium proverbial icing one could hope to get on the cake. lol.

If the Lakers get Kawhi, they just need the rest of the roster filled with players who are willing and able to do the following:

  1. Pass the ball to any of the big 3 and get out of the way.

  2. Defend like your life depends on it.

  3. Knock down a respectable percentage of the many wide open 3-pointers you're basically guaranteed to get.

For me it’s Kawhi or bust. Lol. Lakers need to go broke and get this done.

Like I mentioned earlier, I’m fine if they chose to fill out the roster with soda cans. Haha.

Would you rather we missed the playoffs again?

I am excited about this team....and they kept Kobe 3.0 (I demoted Kuz) and got rid of LaVar Ball and his mouth so I am happy.

Can't wait for the season to start. And for January 1st to roll around so legalized betting comes to Cali. (So I won't have to drive to Vegas or trust a bookie to bet on Lakers games.)

I disagree with saying this will be like when wade, Bosh & I got together. Bosh and James hadn’t won anything at that point either. And they got killed more so than KD.

I’ll be fine with everything if it brings us rings (with an S) and AD keeps us in contention and more rings post-Lebron. The amount of draft picks we’ve been tossing out is eerily reminiscent of 2011-2012 however.

And to Ray, I’ll just add simply that I disagree with the whole “if Zo had a different name he wouldn’t be a starter”. Zo is most certainly a starter. Whether he’s a star or not depends on his confidence in his ability to be the floor leader and in his ability to score. Both things he’s shown flashes of the corner turning before he got injured.

Yeah, if Lonzo got drafted by another team they’d be talking about him being a star someday. Funny how buses people are to young Lakers players.

If we had a list that only showed stats of every PG in the league, most would not blindly select Lonzo as an average NBA starter based off his fist 2 years and injury prone.

He is a starter based off his potential as a young player, to allow him to be a good starting PG one day soon. But if we removed the name and “potential” he would not be a starter. At this exact moment.

I am okay with what we gave up, we gave up 2 guys who could make a few all star teams, Lonzo and Ingram.

A 4th pick who could be an all star or a bust, most top 5 picks never become all stars if you look in time.

Then a bunch of bench players or players who probably won’t be in the league 2 years from now.

Reference was in theory if KL did come, it would be 2 all stars joining Lebron on team that was not a contender the year before.

Only this would be AD and KL joining Lebron on a team that was nothing the year before.

Not sure how that’s not the same setup, both team have 3 all stars and bunch of small contracts to fill rooster. (If KL came)

KD got killed way more for joining a 73 win team that he just lost to, then Lebron making a big 3 in Miami

Hope Kawhi chooses to come to the Lakers. That would be a dream come true. IF Perlinka pulls this off, he would be the man of the year. Magic WHO?

And I hope he does pull it off just because he was bashed every day here in this forum by many. Now some are wondering that maybe they open their mouth before giving the man a chance.

I know Steven A Smith hates Perlinka because of the crying Magic done on his show. But the mouth should apologize to Perlinka on TV if he pulls this off.

I went from defending Pelinka to bashing him. He deserves as much blame as he gets. AD was laid out for him, he didn’t do any meaningful GMing for that. If Kawhi comes, then we can start reversing the current narrative

Relax, it wasn’t personal. If i was LeBron I’m sure I’d have a much better idea of what to sell KL on. Any team could basically offer those things you said... so they weren’t compelling enough to say that’s what would convince KL. I’m sure there are much better things, like business opportunities, endorsements, the fact that once LBJ is gone KL will still have AD to play with. Playing in hometown. Etc.

It’s obviously based off potential! Are you serious? He’s been in the league for 2 years. To compare him to all PGs would be stupid. Although I bet his numbers would still actually look pretty good. You have to compare him to players that have been in the league for only 2 years. And even then, you’re wrong. Lonzo would still be a starter for half the teams in the league already. You can name 20 PGs that are better let alone 30.

Completely disagree about your last paragraph. Maybe it’s just because one happened more recently but you’re forgetting. Even James claims they were the most hated team ever and no one will ever go through what they went through. But of course he would say some $hit like that lol.

When my statement is that he is not a bonafide starter in the NBA right now this exact moment, then yes you do compare him to all thew NBA PG starters. That is exactly my point I am making, right now he is a starter on the Pelicans, because they want him to develop into something great because he has that "POTENTIAL". His starting is 100% directly connected to his potential, is it not connected to what he has actually done.

I am sorry but these are not stats of an avg starting PG in the NBA right now.

2017: 10ppg / 7reb / 7ast / 36% fg / 30% 3pt

2018: 10ppg / 5reb / 5ast / 40% fg / 33% 3pt

And injury prone, avg 50 games each of his first 2 seasons.

That why I said if you removed his name from his stats and threw them with every other starting PG in the NBA last year, he would not match up very well based off what he has done, not his potential.
