Should have tried to keep Zo or BI. Can’t believe they coveted 6’9” Jordan Clarkson over those 2.

I am happy. Lakers can now make room for another max player this summer. Or we could go after 2-3 guys making around 10mil a year.

Things just keep getting worse. Everyone that said Pelinka was no better than Magic, I can now agree with you. Smh. The Pelicans are the real Lakers lol. They got all our players and draft picks now.

Ball, Hart, Ingram, Randle & 3 first round picks.

I don’t believe it’s that they wanted Kuzma more. They most likely told New Orleans to pick 2 out of the 3, and those were the two NO wanted. They gave up a lot, but if you want AD, you have to give up a lot. Don’t believe the Lakers had as much leverage as people think. If this went past the draft and they were forced to pick a player at #4 that asset instantly loses a lot of value.

4th pick in a weak draft, 2 picks that are likely in the 20's if FO does its job going forward. Top 5 player ,for 2 maybe might be stars. Not Bad. Imo

Yeah, don’t care about all that. They needed to trade James. Not get him help.

We lowkey got robbed but I suppose it’s now or never. I hope AD can bring us more than just one ring on a down year from the warriors.

Zo and BI, our two best young players, I hope you guys fulfill your potential like DLo is doing.

Yep. Front office is too weak to make the move to really fix the franchise. Win now mode with James will get us nothing.

Good deal for both teams. Curious to know what the protections are on the picks. Really pleased we kept Kuzma.

The Buss/Laker philosophy has always been to play for titles. The Kuzma/Ball/Ingram grouping might have turned out to be a nice group that could have some 50 win seasons, but it didn’t project to be a championship nucleus.

Davis is an incredible player and is 26 years old- a cornerstone for this franchise for the next 10 years.

Yeah we kinda got robbed lol.

I might start watching the Pelicans next year. They got Ball, Ingram, Randle and a ton of picks coming. Could be a fun team to watch. Gentry is trash though.

Don't think it was necessary about players, more about money. Getting a lot of value in Kuz talent and contract. BI had 1 more yr on his contract, rather they get something for him than watch him walk like Randle. Did we really trust FO to resign BI to 1st big contract ?

Many didn’t think Steph/Klay/Dray/Lee were a championship nucleus, never mind win 73 games.

I’m willing to see how it works out, AD could not bring the Pelicans anywhere, but hopefully he can bring us more than one championship over the next 10 years if he stays. This trade was great for the pelicans, meh for us though. But we’ll definitely see, as a Laker fan I only hope for the best

Thought the point was to win a chip or chips. I'll take that over not wanting Lebron on team.

If the Pelicans can get a good coach and sign 1 top free agent, they would be contenders for years. And they have draft picks coming to them every year.

Scary thing in all this is , FO screws this up and AD walks at end of year.

I think the true value of this trade will be determined by who else we get in free agency and will everyone stick around. If we are now able to get Kyrie, Jimmy, etc. or team and future will be much better. I think of all the free agents we have a chance to get Jimmy Butler is the best bet. Butler, LeBron and AD will be solid for the next few years.

That is the point. That’s why we need to trade James. And not me. I hope this version of the team fails miserably. I hope we suck tbh, and we remove the entire front office and build from scratch. At this point, I might even jump on the “Jeannie needs to sell” train. Let’s tank! Lol

Good point- but Steph and Klay turned out to the greatest shooting backcourt in the history of the sport. Steph turned into a two-time MVP...if Ingram or Ball turn into that, then I’ll certainly eat crow, but I just don’t see anything remotely close to that happening.

So you rather see them fail ,than see James get another ring. Interesting!!!

The point of the NBA is to win it all. We are now right there specially next year with GSW being injuried.

And if we get another Max player this year, then we have 2 top guys to carry us after Lebron.

We also now have a team players want to join, this year and going forward

Oh yeah! I forgot all about that lol. They are going to be loaded. They need to get some shooters around Zion. Wonder if he and Randle would even be a good pair. Wouldn’t think so really. But who knows. Randle could opt out. Maybe go small ball and play Randle at 5. Sign J. Butler.

Ball, Butler, Ingram, Zion & Randle.

Trade Holiday for more picks and stay loaded like the Celtics keep doing.

Randle might not even be on the team. Word here is his reps all contacted Suns about his interest in coming here next season.

Agreed. The point of being bad for many years is to accumulate assets (picks, young players and cap space) and then cash that in to build championship winning teams. If you do well through the draft like the Spurs or Warriors, then you don’t have to go that route, but we didn’t.

I’m just wondering now if the best play is indeed to get another max guy like Jimmy or Kamba, or to try and fill out roster with two quality guys (I.e. Bogdanovic and a Redick)

Question, would you rather get a top FA or fill out roster with 3 or 4 good shooters ?

To tell you the truth if we get a 3rd max player. I think we can fill out rooster with decent players using MLE and Vet contracts.

There are always players wanting to join a contender for cheap and that will be us this year

I'll give the Lakers credit in this respect, they stuck to their roots of the past in building a team with stars. As big of a Laker fan that I am, I sure hope it works out. Right now just don't feel good about this.

What were we going to do with more draft picks? Keep taking on project players, hoping someone turns out to be good? And btw Ingrahm might have injury issues going forward. That should thing was scary. I was always for moving him and Ball. Wish we could have kept Hart, but he can be replaced. They were never going to trade Lebron. So getting AD was a great pick up imo. Only now we need a PG not named Rondo. Walked would really seal the deal, but seems to be leaning to staying in Charlotte. Tony Parker retired. Maybe he could be coaxed out of retirement to come here for vet min LOL. Kidding.

Question, will AD play the 5, or 4? I guess Kuzma 4 and AD 5? There are other players out there. Cousins doesn't look to be resigning with Dubs. For example. I worry about overpaying (supermax) for Butler, but someone will. Would he be a good fit? Or would we have the classic 3 stars all wanting the ball problem? And we still woulnd't have a PG, unless they have Caruso be the man. Can't keep having LBJ play point. Gots ta manage his minutes and work load next season.

Does this mean the talk about Favors is over? Or do we bring him in at the 5, AD at 4 (with Kuz as 6th man?) LBJ 3, and then who at 1+2?

Still work to be done. Assuming the NBA doesn't cancel this deal, for basketball reasons.

Btw we could go back for Randle for the 4. Say hey bro, that was the other guys. We always wanted you. As we saw with Toronto, length can win you a lot of games, and a chip. Small ball RIP. We'd have a large and strong front court. Strongest in Bball. Then what about the guards. Hmmmmm.

Kemba might stay in CHAR. If Nets get Kyrie Russell will be looking for a job. And he wouldn't be a max, so would have some $ left over to fill out the roster with good talent Wink

Hopefully AD at 4, think it's better for him physically.

Brandon Ingram has the makings to be a 30 ppg scorer with a willing pass and lengthy defense. I would have kept that and paid him over getting Jimmy or keeping Kuz. Even with ballhog Kuz and point guard Lebron he finally came into his own the second half of the season. To me BI has a clear trajectory into being better than Klay and maybe Steph. Zo to me is less a superstar but more as the guy who just elevates the team around him. He can be a star if he stopped playing in a shell.

Like I said though I’m looking forward to seeing what AD can do. I won’t get my hopes up, but I always hope for the best. More than one trophy at the very least.

I think most in the NBA consider the Celtics and Ainge gods for everything the did with deal and developing there players and this and that.

Let see they have won anything yet and after Irving leaves they are no where close to winning anything.

So sometime going all out on top players in exchange for our young is good.

Celtics would of give up everything for AD if they knew Irving was staying, because having 2 top 10 players is better then having 3 top 20 young players.

I’m hoping we sign one more max or almost max guy to pair with AD for years to come. Looking at the ages of big time FA’s who would you guys want?

Kemba (29)

Jimmy Butler (29)

Kyrie (27)

Kawhi (27) - most obvious answer but unrealistic

Klay (29) - out until Allstar break at least

KD (30) - not playing all year

How do you feel about just signing key role players to the group?

I’d rather sign guys who play smart and hard. We don’t have to go after another max now that we have lebron and AD. Two guys who can carry the team offensively. I’d try to sign two above average players and fill the rest with cheap vets and a couple youngsters for the cheap multi year contracts

EDIT: more shooters please. Lebron only knows how to play one way! Lol.

Cousins and AD loved playing together in NO, he’s not about to get a huge offer from no one and could get real mins on our team
