Lakers get: AD

Pelicans get: Lavine, #7, Lakers 2020 unprotected 1st,Kuzma and Hart

Bulls get: Lonzo, Solomon Hill and our #4 pick

This does NOT mean the trade is done, it’s simply the most recent offer being closely discussed.

Sorry for messed up format, I can only post on reddit via mobile since I don’t remember my password and have no email set up on it.

Keeping BI or any one of the three sounds good to me.

I’d be surprise if we keep Ingram in that deal. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t go to Chicago in that situation. I don’t see Bulls giving up Lavine for Lonzo and moving up three spots.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pelicans trade AD to the Celtics for peanuts so that they DO NOT have to deal with the Lakers. It's unanimous, the league does not want a slightly better Lakers team.

Yeah, I don't see why the Pelicans would want Lavine but this guy has been right on a lot of things. I don't think the trade makes sense but I ain't a GM lol.

That deal never happened, but the Bulls were making out like bandits in that scenario.

After the AD trade, here is my realistic wish for finishing the team. We need two starters and I’d like Darren Collison and Jimmy Butler. Both play defense, can shoot and Collison has experience with Vogel. Then let’s fill in with some Vet shooters and a big man. I’m pretty sure McGee would come back.

Just started a thread on this.

Is there still enough money to draw in Kawhi? Even if the lakers go over the cap, go for it now. Do not let the Clippers get him.

You can only go over the cap re-signing your own players.

Not unless Kawhi takes less money. Lakers can't go over cap to sign him. So unless they get Pels to wait 30 days, it won't happen, unless Kawhi or another max player will take less money for 1 season.

Considering the bounty we gave the Pels, if they don't extend 30 days, there should be hell to pay. And btw, should have been anticipated by the Laker FO. If not...someone needs to go drop a bomb on that place...

Last season only a few teams were under the CAP. Including the Lakers. You mean to say 26 other teams got there by resigning their own players only?

Also using exceptions like MLE and BAE as well as Vet minimum contract to fill out rooster

My understanding is if the Lakers get a commitment from a free agent before July 6 this trade will not affect their cap space and they can still get a max free agent.

Members of the media tend to report without context. Is it true that the LAL/Pels trade is expected to be completed on July 6? Yes,....

I think this time around Lakers front office is managing the media leaks (information) carefully and tightly. Eric Pincus clearly said in this article - "Why would the Pelicans agree to a pause the deal for a month? That may be why the Lakers are including three first-rounders." If the Lakers do find the max player who is willing to join Lakers, they will either do a amendment to the proposed July 6th trade finalization. I think Rob would have planned for this already.

That’s how it works Shepard. The only free agents you can go over the cap to sign are minimum contracts and MLE, MMLE. We’ve been explaining this on here for years.

I don’t see how this is accurate. Free agents can agree to a deal but can’t officially sign until the 6th. So not sure if this really works out.

Think its saying that if they know whoever will sign with team by the 6th. Pels will wait the 30 days. Though I wonder what happens if Pels trade 4th pick for a player, will team that gets 4th wait ?

I grasp the concept. Just dubious about an entire league other than the Lakers are 3 other teams having all veterans signed they could go over the CAP with.

I could see this to be true, I feel the same about "reports" saying he will not waive is Trade Bonus. Why would he say I will waive it before the Lakers even know if we need him to waive. He doesn't need to say he will waive it today, he can say he will waive it at any point before the trade. However if we need him to waive it in order to get a better rooster, I 100% think that he will. I mean how much did he just turn down from a super max with the pelicans. He is clearly about winning more then a few million dollars.

Yes, the reason for waiting 30 days with the 4th pick, is because after 30 days we can use his salary for part of the trade. There is more details, but that's basically it. So yes the 4th pick would technically be ours until we traded it 30 days later.

Agree with you. That’s not what it was talking about though, Ray. It was saying either way they could sign a max free agent before hand. But just because free agency starts on the 30th or whatever, they can’t officially sign until the 6th, so I’m not sure if this one guy is correct. No one else is reporting this.

If we really want to win, we gotta find a way to get Patrick McCaw. He’s won a title every year he’s been in the league. He’s the secret to winning it all.

Gives us some hope of getting someone like Kemba or Jimmy B. I prefer Walker because it's important to have a quality PG

If the Lakers miss out on signing a max player in free agency than I would take a look at Malcolm Brogdon

Yeah it's like chump change really. He could just offer it to me. I'd help out if needed. Take one for the team lol.

SO now that the Pels traded the 4th for 3 later picks, do they 'care about the guys being in summer league?' Will they try to package those guys for another player? How does that then affect the July 6th thing?

None of this affects the July 6th trade, the trade is still going to happen in July 6th. At this point Rob must convince the Hawks or Nets or both take to take on Bonga / Wagner / Jones in a 3 or 4 team trade. Pelicans also have to approve. I read some where that if Pelicans allow this multiple team trade they can create a huge exception and work towards a max spot of there own, so at this point there would incentive for Pelicans to help us.

I also believe Rob and Pelicans had an understanding that if Lakers found a 3rd team that didn't affect their original deal the Pelicans would agree to adjust the trade.

Right now the Lakers website is showing Lionel Hollins and Jason Kidd as asst coaches. is that right? Pretty good staff I'd say. And if they get the guy from GSW. Dang...

Yes we have had Hollins and Kidd on the staff for awhile now. As much of good things I have heard about this guy from GSW. I just don't understand the logic behind adding him. He is a defensive minded coach and so far all the coaches we have are defensive minded coaches. We should be focusing on getting an offensive expert as a coach. Now i know Kidd and vogel can put together X's and O's too but just would make sense if you went with somebody that was more of a offensive specialist instead.

True. Might be Lebron's gig tho lol. Imo it's just the Lakers going from one extreme to the other, as usual. Bad D last season. Ok let's get a bunch of D coaches. So this season we'll have stellar D and no O.
