So Magic didn't tell Jeannie OR Pelinka OR Luke OR Lebrown? Holy crap. Talk about pulling the rug out from under the team and the top brass. I did predict this tho btw. When everyone was expecting Jeannie to fire him after the season. I said no she won't coz it will make her look bad. It would be Magic resigning to save face for her. But I did not expect it on the night of the final game of the season. Why would he do that? Why not wait until after exit interviews? What was the rush?

Only good thing is it SHOULD upset the team enough that they manage to lose tonight. Wink Need to drop below Dallas to stay top (or bottom) 10 for a shot at a lottery pick.

Lakers can't catch Dallas, do you mean Minnesota?

I knew this was coming and I am not surprised. It would not surprise me either if LeBron demands a trade since the younger players do not trust him.

That would be nice, but don't think she gives a damn about getting our respect.

She don’t have to care about my respect! Just do what needs to be done! Lol

Stephen A. Smith knows. This isn’t a clean walk away. I think he was told to resign. Can’t be a coincidence shortly after Jeannie has spoken out and hours after the report that he’s not a speaking terms with Luke.

yeap, I think he might of had talked with jeanie before stepping down. He said he respect and love her and his sis. so I don't think he's stepping down before telling her. I think he's stepping down so he can tamper all he can in order to recruit players to the lakers or jeanie told him his time is up. There's something going on lol

Just hope Jeanie doesn't make it a condition that Luke stays when hiring a new head of basketball ops. Let whoever she hires make that decision.

Wow, this was unexpected.

Going to be interested what direction this goes. Could be a lifeline for Luke or the final nail in the coffin. What does this mean for Book worm Pelinka?

This could finally be the time for a complete overhaul of the franchise.

I left this site 2 years ago due to Magic Johnson worshippers and an intolerable level of disrespect that was issued in my direction when I laid some facts on the table. I will give him a little slack because other players, including Lebron and Kobe, sold out to the promises of the pressures, though Magic apparently resisted and paid a big price. One can clearly see what happens to people (wealthy, influential, media friendly, Black Americans) who don't tow the line. Ask Bill Cosby. He'll tell ya'. He was seeking to purchase Sony Studios and that was not going to be allowed! To bring things front and center, Magic never had AIDS nor HIV, obviously! His career was ended short for not selling out to the 'eternal pressures' that were being placed upon him. Those 'pressures' remain and they intend to own the Lakers! You may know this by the methods in play or rather a conspicuous absence. The calling card is indirectness. That band of red-shifting is how anyone may know who's behind the mischief. His departure, I presume, was part of a plan, as well further mangling the Lakers internally while appearing not to, thereby lowering the market value on the back of a star in his waning years that few to nobody in the league wishes to pair with. What's the real reason Anthony was not allowed to be traded? I have no idea, but Demps firing is certainly curious, isn’t it? Who lets D-Russ go, and Julius Randle who are both on par for All Star careers, as well Lou Williams? Kuzma must have been terrifying to Magic and his silent partners given his stellar performances out of the blue! I trust the picture....

I trust the picture is moderately clear, and that you are willing to step beyond the 'golly gee why did that happen' mentality and recognize the plan behind all of this. The stage has been set and unless Jeannie performs some sort of magic, no pun intended, I predict that she'll be signing ownership transfer documents to a family whose name starts with 'G' before the beginning of the 2021 season.

Well done Magic. You win the league MVP for this one! I hope I'm wrong, but the writing's on the wall. Little ol' me predicted what has transpired thus far and I don't open my mouth unless I have discoverable facts so here it is again with more data to predict the next exciting episode of, 'How to assure wealth remains in as few hands as possible'.

Wow, that's quite an idea. And I thought I got accused of telling conspiracy theories a lot lol. But you may be right. It's a play within a play. So to speak. Funny enough tho I was onboard that idea a cple years ago with the other dynamic duo who seemed to be doing everything possible to ruin the team and drive down the asking price. Or at any rate force a passing of the baton. And yes in LA a name that starts with G, actually 2 of them now that I think of it, and or a name that starts with S who's the head of the insurance co that owns Staples. A few possibiities. Depending on who steps up. But are they devaluing the team? Or, ironically increasing it's value? If a whiff ever got out the team was for sale, watch how high it soars. The master plan emerges! Mwahahahaha.

Well if so I for one hope it works. Why not? It may be the only thing that saves this team from another dismal decade!

In my last post, I mentioned that the 3 problems bugging the Lakers are Magic, Walton and Lebron. Magic has resigned, Walton, if has the decency should likewise resign, and lastly, with his recruiter out, Lebron will definitely ask for a trade specially now that its out in the open that Jeannie has toyed with the idea to have him traded.

This development gives the a fresh clean slate with the hope of getting professional competent people to run the team, from president to head coach and it should be done soonnest before the changes in players roster.

Not going to get much value in return for LBJ. I can't think of a team that would give up much to get him.

Magic was an excellent player. He had the talent to be an All-Star. I want to thank him for what he did for us, but what we needed was a leader. We needed somebody also that can make the team better, and also that players want to play for.

LebrOn hasn’t been happy with Magic because he never was able to bring in another star. I remember hearing that LebrOn told Magic that he was unhappy with his performance and told him that his work was below expectations and that his objectives were not met.

The Flat Earth Theory, the Non-moving Earth, Mesas confused as former 10,000 foot tall trees with cities in its branches and Agenda 21's Climate Change are a global IQ test that many intelligent people are failing. I do not happen to be one of them.

Your sarcasm and disrespect notwithstanding, do some research on my points, step out of the need for direct association that social engineers rely upon to direct the misinformation, read the book the 'Dumbing Down of America' or anything written by Izrbyt, realize that everything is designed, take two aspirins but please don't call me in the morning. I've done the work, have you? I'm the guy that foils the collective wail, 'Why didn't they tell us'?

You remind me why I don't chat here anymore. I appreciate that... I also told y'all that the day they traded Bynum for Howard, the decline had started... I wouldn’t be so self assured if my points were not consistently validated. I'm also the first to state when I am incorrect. It's been awhile.... I do gather a lot of data before I blather on...

But, but, but Shep, I did mention my distrust of him due to his desire to own the team and the inherent conflict of interest when his name was first announced. The rest is little more than fill in the blanks... You know what goes on in the shadows. Kobe did not dress up as a Pilgrim to make a fashion statement!

I think the preferences for such things not to be true overrides the obviousness of it all. Life is hard right? Who needs to fun taken out of fun? Me, I have an intolerance for deception and the cloud has become rather thick. I choose to call it out rather than clench up and hope it's all gone in the morning. I know it's not popular and I will live with that...

Magic was a terrible President, so I don't care that he is gone.

From an outsider looking in some things I think he did wrong.

    -Trading Zubac for nothing.

-Not getting Jerry West because of their own issues.

    -Not signing shooters for Lebron.

-Letting AD trade get so out of hand. An experience FO would not have let it go that far and that much info get out. Ex: Nobody knew Kawhi was going to Toronto until it happened. He should have known when to cut negotiations and also maybe made some statements to cut back on some of the 100s of rumors going around.

    -Not bringing Lopez back.

Also if we don't get another max guy this summer, then these deals look really bad also:

    -Trading Dlo.

    -Letting Randle walk.

Maybe now we can get a real President who will do all the day to day grinding that it takes and understands NBA negotiations

I also don't this makes us look worse as a franchise, then 2 days ago. This makes Magic look worse. If anything, this is the direction we need to go in. Magic is the one who tried to trade everyone for AD, him being gone may allow our team to come together again this summer. A fresh start, maybe.

I think magic was a terrible president but he gets unfairly pumped into Pelinka’s everyday personnel decisions. Get rid of Pelinka while we’re at it. He gets credit for many of the moves that Ray listed.

That trade for cap space and letting a player walk for cap space already look bad. The Lakers should have stayed the course, now we are trying to build around a 34 year old.

I’m not sure if everything is as straight forward as Magic just stepping down. Now there are rumors about Kobe’s boy backstabbing Magic and Magic wanting to fire him. Supposedly Buss said no to firing Kobe’s boy and now his power will grow because LA is keeping him.

I think he is was very real with what he was saying last night. I do think he had the power to fire Luke, but Jeanie made it clear she didn't agree, but he could do it and he didn't want to upset her or cause an awkward relationship between them to for the rest of the time they worked together.

Also he just made so many bad decisions. His best move would be signing Lebron. Yes some don't see this as good, but for him that was his best move he made. And even then most people thought Lebron picked us long before Magic ever went o his house, so how much of that signing Magic's doing?

I think Magic realized he was not good at this job and didn't want to put the grind in day to day to do the job, so he just gave up now instead of end of next year. Media and players are making it out to be Pelinka and Couching staff put in the work all year and Magic was the one slacking with what a president is suppose to do in a FO.

Jerry West said it last year that the Lebron signing wasn’t a hard one because Lebron wanted to be in LA. This is why I never thought it was all that great and also because building around a 34 year old leaves a franchise with a very small window to win and leaves this team in a position to rebuild again in 3 years.

I think you could be right about his press conference but he also did mention the backstabbing/whispers. Maybe it was because he wasn’t putting in the work and if that was the case he should have stepped down. However, now we may have a new president who has to work with a GM that is not of his choosing and the GM is not liked around the league. This is not a good place to be in.

Yep, this is not good news imo. She kept saying she defers to magic but she should also defer to the new president. If that president doesn’t want to have Pelinka as his GM, then what happens?

Why in the hell does Jeannie want to keep Ana agent who negotiated a 25 million dollar a year contract for a broke down Laker which hurt the franchise?

Now the new president is stick with a GM who others around the league don’t want to deal with. This is the best time to clean house. Nunez is gone, Magic is gone and they should let Kobe’s boy go too.

Honestly I was hoping that he would be booted out first. All the tertiary dealings which took place were imho, unfairly put entirely on Magic’s shoulders, cause that was under Rob’s watch. Magic has been terrible no two ways about it, but I also need to point out that he didn’t get a chance to install a GM of his choice. It was reported yesterday that Magic had no clue they were bringing that guy on board. I loved the late great Doctor, but he left the franchise in the hands of the wrong siblings.

It’s absolutely nuts that Pelinka has been installed and it has Kobe’s stench all over it. The problem I see here is that these Buss kids (Jim and Jeannie) want to be involved like their dad was. They’re no where as good as their dad and the best thing Jeannie can do is actually sit back and defer and just write the damn check. So, apparently she brought Pelinka on board (probably due to Kobe’s urging) and now Pelinka will be retained while another president comes in. This is crazy.
