How will the Lakers do in the upcoming contest vs. the LA Clippers . The guys must do what well to get the W? Which player should L.A. watch out for? Will the game be a shootout or a defensive struggle? Which Laker will step up this game?

Actually if everything is well among Lakers players, there is no doubt they will win against the Clippers. But with the silent intramural specifically between Lebron and Kuzma, and the ineptness of coach Walton which is already an issue with the players, Lakers will have a hard time to win. In the Lakers last game, Kuzma had only a total of nine attempts to the goal which is highly suspicious for the teams bonafide scorer. Likewise, in that game which showed Lebron distributing the ball, hardly did he give assist to Kuzma who has been cutting and moving inside and out the paint area.

Kuzma said "There is something wrong with the Lakers" and now he is paying the price. For now. Scorers -- even if they can't play defense - are few and far between. I guess we will have to watch all our stars -- Randle, DLo, Zubac, Kuzma, Thomas Bryant -- scattered around the League.

BTW -- having Kuzma guard centers is risking him to injury. I HATE MAGIC AND LUKE.

Addendum: Because this is L.A. and a huge media center, LeBron is really going to eat into his legacy if this downward slide continues. People have short memories. And it is possible that if this plays out as badly as it might, in a few years mention LeBron's name and you might get, "Oh, that's the guy who ruined the Lakers." Goodbye LeBron statue!

Unfortunately it will be other way around, in few years it will say " Lakers FO, who couldn't build around Lebron and wasted his last few years".

I wouldn't either. His career would be really destroyed if he came here. The Lakers would miss the playoffs and Anthony would be the new scapegoat for the Lakers missing the post seasons.

Yes I agree with you Lakers are a mess. I don't even know why they're going after Carmelo Anthony other than to make LeBron James happy. Lakers have passed on so many good players. I hate to say it but I don't think magic Johnson is the man for the job.

Why would the Lakers ever give LBJ a statue? He would have to 3peat and even then it's doubtful he would get one. He is never going to be considered a Laker legend.

As for his legacy, Kobe's last 2 years were pretty painful to watch and he was no where close to his pre-injury play, but that didn't taint his legacy. So why would LBJ's legacy be viewed any differently? In a few years people are going to question the front office not LBJ. The team they put around him this year was awful, I said it in the summer when they were all signed.

Luke is the scapegoat right now but I don't have much confidence in Maginka doing any better than the last FO regarding hiring a new coach. So where does that leave the franchise? Who is to blame?

I agree Luke doesn’t deserve all the blame since he didn’t purchase the groceries, but he is also part of the problem. Maginka’s performance has been abysmal, some of the decisions like letting Randle walk for nothing, not bringing back Lopez and giving up on Zubac have been terrible FO decisions. I don’t believe these “FO newbies” even understand how cap space works since they traded away Zubac to get rid of Beas and acquire a shooter, when they could have simply waived Beasley.

But as a fan you must probe a bit further and ask yourself if Maginka deserves all the blame as well. They didn’t come here on their own or did they? Especially when you know J.West was available as well.

Same nonsense of hiring personnel with past family relationships, reeks of nothing but Nepotism and dysfunctional ownership. Some notable examples: Lakers Coach Luke Walton is a former fan favorite as a player, as are two of his assistants, Brian Shaw and Mark Madsen. Jordan Wilkes, the son of the former Laker Jamaal Wilkes, is a scout. Linda Rambis, the wife of the former player and coach Kurt Rambis, is an executive. And Jerry Buss said he considered Magic Johnson a son. This is has been happening for quite some time now.

The entire chain of command top to bottom stinks and is out of synch. The Clippers in the past and the Kings in the recent past were dysfunctional and the ownership was rightly called out. The Knicks(and the Suns) have become the perennial laughingstock due to the incompetence exhibited by James Dolan/ ownership. Why should the buck stop at Maginka when it comes to the dysfunctional lakers?

Oh I completely agree. This mess is the sum of multiple problems from top to bottom.

Hiring people with zero experience in that role is a huge risk, hiring several of them in critical positions is madness. Yet people wonder why it's not working lol. These problems have been ongoing for years, the only functional department is the scouting department.

LOL...I know. I didn't either. Much like LeBron, he is not changing his overall game. But, I still like him, just not with the Lakers.

Facts!!! Magic sweet talked his way into this and look where him and Pelinka has gotten this team so far. With the bizarre signings, to the BONEHEADED drafting of Wagner over Robinson, who would have worked, but seeing this FO operate, Robinson would have been traded to the Hawks for one of their 3rd string back ups forwards that plays the position as ....everyone on our team.

It's sad.

Jennie has some skin in this too. She had a chance to dismiss some things, fire Walton and start fresh. Tell Magic to shut up and stop talking to EVERYBODY. But, she puts the proverbial icing on the cake and says " Well, we weren't going to trade the whole roster...fake news." Really??? You are a few weeks late for that bit of inspiration for the team. She should have did what Magic did and hugged it out with everyone.

And on another note, sucks that Luke Perry passed, just heard that.

Think when Lakers signed Lebron, it was on them to change team around him, everything about this current team takes away from Lebron's strengths.

Also think Lebron is getting exactly what he wants, coach gone and lottery pick to help get him AD. Have watched him play closely, and while he's putting up triple doubles, he can do that in his sleep. Body language says he's making a half azz effort, at least it looks that way to me.

Yeah, he is NOT connected, but as much as I blame the FO for this, I don't want to see the FO completely cave into his demands of getting rid of some of the young guns for AD. But, I am sure that Magic will hold a press conference on Jimmy Kimmel and announce his intentions to trade for AD.

I'd give up pick or 2 and a couple of young guys, that's it. Not giving up BI and Kuz together. It would be one or the other, hoping to keep BI.

But with rumors growing in Boston about Kyrie not connecting with team , think if he leaves, it only helps Lakers. Celtics would be crazy to throw Tatum into a AD trade.

But even if Lebron wasn't on team, I go after a player like AD, he can't get FA's to come to New Orleans, but I bet he sure as hell can get them to come to LA.

IF I did want to trade it would be Kuzma. BI's defense is better and he seems to be able to do more on the court, compared to Kuz who is horrible on D and if he is not scoring , the rest of his game is non-existent, but Boston and New York seem to have better assets than what the Lakers currently have.

Quote:
What this list really illustrates is how poorly the Lakers managed the Zubac situation at the trade deadline. They moved him to the Clippers, and now potentially their top option to replace him " over the guy they dealt him for " is the player the Clippers waived to make room for Zubac (Gortat).

No matter how you slice it, that’s not ideal asset management. Even Zubac knows it.

I saw him play at the Clippers v Bucks game. He is about as much use as Chandler these days. I don't understand how we have gone from Zubac to this?! I get they didn't want to pay Zubac but you make that decision in the summer, not while you are trying to make a playoff run.

Question to y'all: If the Lakers lose EVERY game from now on, what are our statistical chances of landing Zion? (Assuming he would go #1)

Depends on how many wins or losses teams ahead of them in lottery race get. But think they would have to at least get down to 6th or 7th seed in lottery to have a decent chance to move up 1st pick lottery night. But with players coming out this year, think a top 3 pick gets them a very good young player or nice trade chip.

HE would be really good. I don’t even know what the deal is with Lonzo and if he would be part of the future with the lakers, after what Lavar has barking to the media. Definitely need to keep an eye on him.

Yep because we're not like the Celtics in that they seem to play better when Kyrie is sitting. If they sit LBJ, the losing will continue....IMO.
