When a team like ours right now is so bad on defense, then every individual player sucks on defense. Same reason why Durrant was never mentioned one time for his defense while at OKC, but he joins a great defensive team like GSW and now people start putting his name next to defense.

  • It's hard to be good at defense if your team sucks at it.

  • It's easy to be good at defense if your team is good at it.

True, but we really don't have any players that are great at 1 on 1 defensively, unlike GS.

That’s the problem right there. You can drag the horse to the lake, but it’s up to the horse to drink the water. Lol. This is the same defensive system which was top 10 last season at the same point right? Lmao. (Maybe we are really missing Randle)?

Definitely miss him, but current players aren't making the same effort on defense as they did last season. It's all about scoring and getting out and running. Think they need to slow pace down a lot, than pick their spots to fast break. Imo

At this rate they'll be physically done and crawling down court by all-star break. Lol

I agree with that. It's clear that the primary focus has been on scoring and not enough focus on defensive rotations. There are gonna be some teams like Phoenix that can be outscored virtually every night but without dramatically improved team defense, the Lakers will continue to post losses against the playoff caliber teams in the west. I'm concerned about the Lakers defensive rebounding too. That's another area where Randal will be missed, who led the team in defensive rebounding last season.

Since we look a lot better without BI, I am beginning to think (to BI) FATTEN UP!!! Unless you can shoot like KD, FATTEN UP!!!

Good win against a team that’s had a hot start to the season. Defense was still spotty at best but they got some key stops in the 4th period, which led to the victory. Need more of that.

If BI gains any weight, it'll probably be 10 years from now. With that type of build, it's a process. Or he may be the size of Snoop Dogg his whole career. Time will tell.

Repped High Quality Post

It has been clearly established that Ball is a better fit with the starting unit especially Lebron. There is more flow and synergy to the offense. Defense gets a huge boost as well. He’s arguably the best defender on the team. Don’t get me wrong I love rondo and he’s there to provide veteran leadership and impart some bb knowledge/ iq to the young guns playing his position. However he has a propensity to pound the ball and release it only when he’s assured he would register an assist. Lol. He’s been like that throughout his career so let’s not kid ourselves. Lastly he’s on a 1 yr deal and probably not part of the big picture.

Zo personifies unselfishness wherein he has no problems releasing the rock the moment he touches it...irrespective of him getting an assist. He loves pushing the ball and this is congruent with the fast uptempo style we are trying to implement. There are players who might register 10 assists and can still be selfish, Zo is not one of them.

I would still start BI. You cannot penalize the youngster for sticking up for his teammates. That’s a horrible look. I will give Kuz bulk of the mins and even finish out games if he’s playing better. Anyways it’s the crew finishing out the games which counts. I trust the best lineup would be on floor at that point.

Looks like he's getting closer to getting on court.

There is so much fuss on the defense that the Lakers is showing. Give this team a break! there is no perfect defense. Different varieties of defensive plays has been studied by coaches and definitely they have also come up on how to overcome this defensive plays. Definitely the Lakers has these defensive plays, but the problem is the opposing team has solved these plays and Coach Luke try to solely blame the defensive plays of his team in losses, which is the most convenient way rather than his shortcomings in his decision making in setting up plays and his players substitution.

Was thinking same as about BI until I saw a stat last night. Said Zo, Hart , Kuz , LeBron, McGee are at 111 ppg offensively and giving up 97 ppg on defensive end, when on court together. But I guess they can do like you said and start BI, than give Kuz bulk if he's still playing well.

I was watching this new ESPN show high noon. They brought up some startling stats which I know you will find very interesting KK.

Rondo and LBJ in the starting lineup together are -27. Ball and Lebron conversely are +31. Lol.

Saw that !!! Personally I wouldn't change anything right away. Go with what works, until it doesn't. Zo should be starting, think Kuz fits better next to James, even though BI might have more upside. Saw where Zo already said he doesn't care who starts, he just wants to win. Hope that doesn't when they already told him he's returning to bench.

Well said. And Lonzo is the future PG of this team so no need to invest with Rondo. I also want to play Ingram more when Lebron goes to the bench and plays point. Repped!

I hope still we could find a way to have Lance close the game. His energy is a big key.

Watching Big Baller walk like that gives me a headache. I’m sure Magic feels the same way!

Thanks a lot and I hope BI initates the offense or at least becomes the secondary ball handler when Lebron goes to the bench. Great observation.
