Ugh. Theoretically it could be to sign him later to a contract less than his cap hold. I hope that’s the case

Just like I said Lebron was surely coming so I said Randle was definitely leaving. All those signings told that story to me very clearly even as some here were telling me they didn't mean anything about Randle.

You have to know how to read the tea leaves and I know exactly how to do it. I have for a long time. That's why i trust my judgement and keep my own council. And that's just the truth on that.

This is very depressing. Randle was by far the best player on the team last year and played with an effort and style few players could match. And he's so young.

The final bitter irony is that of all the players on our roster, Randle was the most capable to play on a level that would give Lebron the type of help he wants and needs. Then they let him go. What?

Magic and Pelinka I hope Randle makes you choke on this move for years.

I feel sick. I will miss Randle, that bundle of crazy physical joyfull destruction like I will miss few others. What a warrior. He carried this team so many times last year when all the others shrank back. He made watching the team fun.

This was a dumb move. If there was one laker they should have never touched was Randle. They could have stretched Deng, to sign Rondo. No need to renounce the only sure thing you have on your team.

Can they still sign Randle as an UFA? I don’t know how this cap thing works in this Regards. Maybe they have some secret arrangement planned with Randle?

Eh Roman,

I feel sick. That guy was amazing. Can't believe ill never see him just relentlessly attack and destroy players and teams with that joy of pure physical combat he brought.

I am more depressed right now than I have been in years about any Laker move. And there have been some bad ones over the last ten or so years.

Wish they can somehow find a way to sign him as a free agent. I don’t know if that’s even possible.

Quollman

I can attest to everything you stated above. You have said those things in both public and private.

I know how much you liked that Tasmanian Devil as a player. It is sad to see him go considering we could have exceeded the cap to keep him

We have no clue how much money he wanted, maybe he wanted like 22mil like Aaron Gordon?

Or maybe him and his Agent simply said we don't want to continue our career here? So Lakers let him go after his request to be let go?

Remember him and PG13 have he same agent and we didn't get PG13.

Baptist,

As soon as they started signing all these half assed nobodies last night that we don't even need you knew Randle was gone. At least I did.

Who really gives a **** about KP3 and the others? But people were actually excited about it. Ancillary players can be found. Find me a Randle?

The next dumb move they will make is trading for Leonard when they can get him for free next year.

Then you ain't enough of a Randle guy. I remember you talking smack on him last year wanting him traded. When did you come around? And I guess not so much. Your about a little more than a Randle guy as Cali is a Lebron guy. Being honest since one of us has to.

The Lakers just made the next mistake signing Rondo. So.... More Randle money goes to another great signing.

I told you guys weeks ago. The worst case scenario would happen. We would sign James and we would lose Randle. Signing James means giving him control. To bring in a bunch of older players. Randle became a free agent at the wrong time with this FO. He was in the way of signing guys like Rondo, & Mcgee smh. They always viewed him as a barrier, not an asset. His cap hold was a barrier to what they wanted. I hope Randle has an amazing career.

Can't wait for this FO to be ousted. Smh.

Just heard on nba tv (Mike Breshnahan) that they might still bring back Randle. Hope it’s accurate.

You going to be waiting atleast 4 years for this FO to go any where.

Maybe he didn't want to come back here? He does have same agent at PG13 and Russell.

So his Agent doesn't really like us, probably just doesn't even want to resign with us.

Randle was my favorite player. James my least favorite. Imagine how this past 24 hours has been for me.

Wow...this is hilarious! I’m a Randle guy too, but i’m ok with this move. They will most likely resign him later. Also, please remind me how many rings the young core has...one...two...three? I believe it is zero. Rondo has a ring, Lebron has several, Javale McGee has one. These guys have the playoff experience. Maybe you guys are happy just being mediocre. I want us to put up some more championship banners.

Cali,

Yeah Teagle is a trip. He was all over Randle last year wanting him traded now he says he's a Randle guy but is cool with the trade. I remember because he did it on my Randle thread you and I posted on so much.

Teagle was a Randle guy like Crazy Horse loved Custer literally to death. Funny how people say things.

I did want him traded because I knew they weren’t going to re-sign him ... and I was right. The writing was on the wall at the start of last year .

And if you want you can dig up my past posts on him - was happy when we drafted him - was sad when he got hurt - was pissed off at his dumb turnovers and no hands - but still have love for him .

I did not think he was he next Barkley but he’s a good young player - you can’t keep them all

Well Teagle all ill say on that is I've never been a true fan of a player but bad mouthed him and wanted him traded.

Just doesn't ring true to me on any level no matter how you try rationalize it now.

Hate to see what you would say and want done to a player you don't like if that's what you say and want done to a player you do.

I guess you and just express ourselves very differently about players we like. I talk about why I like them and want to keep them, you smack talk them and say why you want them traded.

Go back and dig up my posts on him - Lakers never intended to re-sign him - I wanted to get some talent back in return instead of just letting him walk -

A ton of people here loved Clarkson - I said he was overrated - and I was right - he’s an average at best

I mean if you were cool giving him $20 mil per them I don’t know what to tell you - I would not have

I can see Randle signing a 1-year deal to boost his value for next years free agency if the Lakers don't get Boogie.

Not really. After these moves he (magic) has to win a championship. No ifs and buts about it. You don't sign LBJ and say the target is not to win championships. So how long do you give him? LBJ's window is closing, how fast it is closing we don't know but we are definitely going to find out. So how much time are you giving him? It's certainly not 4 years.

If they go and win a championship we can say these moves have been successful, but then we are back to rebuilding and we get to start this process all over again.

You're trying to give them a pass. If he wanted out that's their fault. That he wasn't extended a year ago, which would've been a bargain, is their fault. That we've signed a bunch of older trash players, and not him is their fault.

I love and hate a lot of players on my teams

I love KOBE and hated his stupid shots

I love Puig and hate his stupid base running

I love D.Carr and hate when he takes sacks

We have more of a complete team now with some of these additions- unless you wanted to sign him and bring back Jose Calderon as your back up PG

Wish Julius all the best in the future.

I really liked Julius in college, and he turned into a nice bully ball type of player. I was concerned about his lack of spacing, and he had a tendency to hold the ball. Not really sure he’s completely compatible with the 2018 NBA. Considering those limitations, I’m glad they didn’t break the bank for him with a long term deal.

With that said, I’d much rather have had Julius for one year at $20M instead of Rondo and KCP.

As a Laker fan since 1979 and a Knick fan since 83....my vantage point is that Randle reminds me of Anthony Mason...One of those guys who could give you a triple double especially with the shooters of today, but Randle in my eyes is not as good defensively. Furthermore, Randle is an inside player with a gym jumpshot and doesn't fit today's game especially with Lebron here...We will wait and see what takers Randle has on the open market...

Thanks, Man. This afeternoon I was seriously trying to talk myself out of the funk of signing James and just trying to support my team, and then within a few minutes of that I got the notification on my phone about Randle. And I'm not even mad anymore. I'm just sad. You are right, he was clearly our best player. He was the only sure thing we had and now he's gone, and all for nothing. I had a feeling all along he would be. Just not a big enough name for this FO.

Lakeshowmusic24,

It has nothing to do with wanting to be mediocre. It has everything to do with how you evaluate the young players. I put high stock in Randle, Ingram and Kuzma. I expect a good jump from all of them this year. I am not just thinking of this year but the next eight years. I had no problem with the Lebron signing but I also don't want to jettison the young guys I like to surround him with vets like Rondo this season.

I have no issue with getting Leonard. Nor would I trade only Ingram for Leonard if SA asked for that deal now because if we wait just one year we can have both. So what is the smart move there? For me it's very clear.

I want rings. But I don't want to destroy this young core of Randle, Hart, Kuzma, Ingram and Ball to try beat GS this year.

There is a happy medium and that's what I'm for.

Yes. I agree i guess there might be a deal in place to get Kawhi & then Cousins. Sheesh. I'm still mixed emotions about this. I just hope the FO are doing the right moves & i just trust them on building a team.

Randle was a beast, but its hard to be emotional attached to player right now.

Randle became a solid defensive player. I'm ok with the Mason comparison, if you add that randle is a far superior athlete and at 23 he looks like Mason at his best. Randle is gone. If they wanted to wait and see, you do that while he's restricted.

You are exaggerating so much to get your point across. With our current team how many players are even 32+ years in age and will play 20+ mins per game this year? Let alone 34-37 in age.

I count LeBron and maybe Rondo gets 20 mins a game.

Lonzo / Rondo

KCP / Hart

Ingram / Kuz

LeBron / Lance

Javale / Zubac

This is a young rooster with 4 of our core 5 guys from last year.

Yep. To all of it. I saw Mason play and he was a mummy compared to Randle. Not even close in athleticism and skill set.

Randle was rated the best defensive switching big man in the league last year. The best. That means no one was higher lol.

I don't have to be in the room to know that they let him go. And for nothing. That is their fault. They obviously didn't offer him enough, but I doubt they offered him anything. They could have extended him last year but like idiots they didn't because they made it clear they wanted to star chase. Also he was RESTRICTED, meaning no matter what happened they could've made sure he didn't get away. Do you have to be in a room to know that the FO has to let a player under contract get away a year and a half after taking over? I don't need to be in a room to know they didn't extend him or resign him. Those are facts.
