All the sports talk shows said no one wanted him in their locker room. Me personally I still couldn't have passed up the opportunity.

Whether it was a locker room concern or the injury and recovery prospects, I tend to think the Lakers had a good reason for them to pass. It could also be because of other trades that could be in the works. I tend to think the recovery aspects and when if ever he will be back to his old self would be a factor. Especially when they are signing short contracts. A 1 year deal doesn’t allow a lot of time for them to fully evaluate his recovery let alone for him to get back to 100% and that would have consumed most if not all of their remaining cap space. In short a gamble on his health they weren’t willing to take at this juncture.

I get all that. Don't bother me either way. I'm just stating in general what I heard today on several sports talk shows period. The F.O. has every right to do as they see fit.

The difference is GSW don't "need" him to be great. They just need him to be better than who they've had before at that position, at a bargain price. And they got that, they assume. Time, as always, will tell. 1 yr deal, low risk. He'll be on his best behavior so he can show he's back and can get along with team mates, to secure that next much larger deal. They may not even keep him more than a year. But if he's even 60-70% of himself, he'll help them for one more ring. Then they'll re-solve that puzzle again next offseason.

I love how warrior fans are thumping their chest when the reality is that 29 teams passed him up.

But with that being said, I would have still taken a punters chance and signed him for 2 years while the asking price was low. So what if he can’t be on the floor until Feb. McGee would have been able to hold fort until then. Lmao!!

I would imagine he was only taking 1 year deals at this cheap. It was kind of pointless for us to sign him for one year, in which he wasn't going to be able to play until Feb. then we wouldn't even re sign him the following year because that cap space is being saved for Kwahi or someone else.

Just the same as GSW won't be resigning the following year either. Cousins is just thinking, since I'm injured and nonpayday this year, I'll go chase a ring and then get my payday.

No point in bringing him in to be on our team for a few months.

He was not taking 1 year deals (he’s not stupid) he was being offered one yr deals. Actually like he mentioned, no one was offering him one year deals either except GSW. Like I said I would have still taken a punters chance on him with a cap friendly 2 year deal while the price was low. It’s no point now, the ship has sailed let’s move on from this!!!

I thought lakers FO made a stupid mistake by not taking chance on demarcus but it looks like lebron played a role, not sure if that is true or not lol
