The problem IMO, is the F.O. along with the coach making sure I.T. get his minutes while hurting the team. It's only been a few games but if making sure he gets his minutes continues to hurt the growth of the team then that's just simply not good.

It's been happening all season with KCP and Lopez, what's new? Lol

Lakers are taking a smart gamble with Randle. They are betting his market is not as much as him and his agent are wanting. If that ends up being the case Lakers could get a great deal for him. No team is going to go out of there way to clear there books to give him a max deal. Only teas that may be in the mix are the few like Dallas that alrdy have cap room without making any moves first.

And worse case Mavs give him what he asked us for, and we just match if we want to. Giving him what he wanted for an extensions wouldn't of helped us in any way possible, would of been stupid for them to do so.

Why give him what he wants a year ago when we can watch his progress this whole year and give him the same deal has sunmet.

I think you may be right, but honestly, every time I hear an NBA "Insider" on the radio (like Ramona S.) for example, they say SOMEONE will offer him a big deal.

And I hope they don't give max to a good developing, but one dimensional player in Randle. If Dallas gives him that , good luck in Dallas. Imo

As much as you know I enjoy Watching Randle, I completely agree with you. But I think his point is that if this happens, we screwed up by not signing him alreadyto a deal that we could've afforded and not lost him for nothing. That BECAUSE we didn't already sign him, Dallas could offer the max just to put us in a bind and possibly steal him. He's both saying that we should match the max deal but that possibility could've been avoided.

Baad your spot on, LBJ makes everybody on that team look better. If he got hurt and missed rest of season , they're close to a lottery team , and no one is talking about Clarkson and Nance Jr or anyone else in that trade, except now bad they look without LBJ.

I think at this point we have enough evidence to stop saying that players look better with James. Did Kyrie? What about Bosh? Wade? Love, Crowder, IT? Most good players look like a much lesser version of themselves playing with James. And we're starting to see players (Kyrie, IT, Crowder) that clearly don't want to play with him.

I don't particularly want him, but what's your reasoning for not wanting him? He is still at minimum top 10 player in the league after all.

I don't like LeBron (although I like him more for his stand against that Ingraham POS) BUT....

LeBron, PG13, Lonzo, BI, Kuzma, Hart, Zubacs, first round pick, Thomas Bryant and (possibly) Randle sounds like a top tier team to me!!!

I would like to make one thing very clear:

If the Clarkson and Nance trade were to somehow play a part in James staying in Cleveland, when he was planning to come to LA, then I will change my stance and forever refer to this as... ONE OF THE GREATEST TRADES IN LAKERS HISTORY! And I will stop speaking negatively of Maginka forever!

That is all.

First and foremost because I'm a Lakers fan. And as a Lakers fan it is ingrained in my DNA to hate (the basketball player) LeBron James.

But on a more objective and rationale side, I've stated many times that he will costvike $40M dollars, bring a ton of drama/dysfunction and never get us anywhere near a title. Hell be 34 in the FIRST year of whatever deal he were to sign with us and clearly be on the downside of his career. Throw in that we've essentially already gotten rid of younger talent in order to get him, and possibly would lose more, it is CLEARLY a horrible idea.

Why do you or any Lakers fan hate him? It's not like he had a legit rivalry with LBJ. They never played against each other in any finals, like Bird and Magic did for a significant period of time.

Just like the Kobe v Jordan rivalry, it was media click bait to get people to click on links or to sell magazines.

Completely agree that he is post prime and the franchise would be taking on a terrible contract.

For me I've always rooted against people that were way too overhyped. So I didn't root for him from day 1. Then along the way he became the anti-Laker. Because stupid people would say he was the best player when it wasn't close to being true. On top of that, he's said so many ridiculous things that have made me dislike him as a player even more. Then he was the flop king and travel king. Now you constantly see all his passive agresive BS amongst his own teams, nothing is ever his fault. Just not much to root for.

He is a great player though. I think clearly a top 10 player of all time.

Throw in that he couldn't win a single title without forming these super teams. And he still acts like he's the greatest.

If, by some quirk, Houston wins a title, LeBron would never join them. Never!

Cos if he did and they lost the re-peat, his legacy would add LOSER to it. If they did repeat with LeBron, he would forever be tarred as a carpetbagger.

Nope. It's Cleveland or the Lakers. Period.

Crazy logic!^

That's already his legacy of ring chasing. He's also got a legacy of losing in the finals, even on his super team's. No way he comes to Lakers without 2 other superstars. His entire history tells us that. He'll stay in Cleveland or go to Houston.

Well by his admittance on ESPN that he doesn't want Adam Silver to mess with the seeding the teams kind of says he prefers the east coast.

For sure. You KNOW he doesn't want to leave the Least. He may do so, but you know he'd rather have that easy road to the finals. Only problem is, I don't see any other good options in the east for him to go to. Cavs are good, but when was the last time James played without 2 other superstars. Not sure if he'll be ok staying in Cleveland with just K. Love.

Now that's the elephant in the room. How will they look when Kevin Love gets back. It's either going to hinder or help them. Time will tell.

Think it helps, love will stretch the floor and Nance can play small ball center, especially in the east. But I thought the Thomas/Irving trade was good for the Cavs too so who knows lol

No telling with LeBron, but he'd make them East favorites with picks and cap space they have.

If it's me and I wanted to stay in East, but wanted out of Cleveland, that's where I'm looking 1st.

The smart move for Lebron:

It's probably too late to just chase rings. He will never catch Kobe/Magic at 5 nor MJ and Cap at 6...or Robert Horry at 7 LOL...

Lakers have a stockpile of young talent, lotsa cap space and a Hollywood that, while not the cache it used to be, is still alluring.

Who better to hang with -- Steven Speilberg or Larry Nance, Sr.? The showrunners of THE WALL or a local Cleveland weatherman? Jack Nicholson or Harry Boomer?

I rest my case.

LeBron, for better or worse, will wind up in Los Angeles. Bank on it.

Good news is, it's probably not going any higher than 26th. But I seriously doubt it's fall below 24th/25th.

Maybe, but it wouldn't surprise me if Cavs lost 5+ games before regular season was over. Think it could easily get as low as 20th. Fingers crossed!!!

Nope !!! He'll be a FA after next season, plus BI is starting to look like he could become just as good or better.

Only player I trade those players for is AD, and I'd trade Randle on sign and trade , instead of BI. Get a young superstar like AD on team and FA's will come. Yeah I know JJ, it ain't happening!!! Lol

I knew we'd regret trading Nance. Clarky I can live with. But not losing Nance. That was dumb. He took a lot of heat here, but I knew he was gonna be ok in time. Should have kept him.

As I have said many times, Superstars are the ones who have nine out of ten good/great games. Stars maybe seven. But mid level NBA players were all stars on their college teams and are capable of going off a couple of games out of ten. Nance had a great game; but you have to track him for a large number of games to see how good he really is. Add into the fact that he is playing with LeBron who makes any players job easier.

Although IT has been a disappointment to me, and Frye is a salary dump, I still like the trade cos we get a draft pick and some cap space.

Last night's loss stung because I was SURE we were gonna win and Luke (and the great Steph "One for Six" Lopez) blew an easy victory.

I think we miss Clarkson. Nance provided some solid defense, but practically nothing else. He was our third best PF. Clarkson was our best guard. Plus now IT is getting all his minutes and blowing games for us.

I'll defend IT, for now, and say he's still learning the system (if there is one), and he's money at the line. Bad timing on his miss, but worse was missing that defensive rebound at the end. And other issues. It's not all on IT. Portland is a good team, and we gave them all we had to give. Can't complain too much. Would have been nice to get the W but it's not a complete surprise we didn't.

Nance D would have helped, and on the boards imo. We saw what he can do last night, including getting his J going. I think our guys got tired in the end. Portland is and has always been a tough out for the Lakers.
