Oh no Larry Nance has a fractured hand. This may be the opening for Kuzma into the starting lineup.

If only Luke stops borrowing the stuff(pot) from his adventurous dad who likes that extravagant life. Lmao.

Lonzo and Kuz have natural synergy going for them. It is rare for two rookies to establish this sort of chemistry so early in their careers. You need to nurture it and not destroy it. When Kuz checks in we are invariably playing from behind or playing catch up. We need to hit first and hit hard. That will only happen if you put your best possible combination on the floor and don’t care about seniority and about hurt feelings of other players. Team interests come first. I thought Luke was smarter than this. Buechler (our asst coach) recognized/acknowledged the advantage this combination brings, in the summer league and it paid off big time.

With Luke being a relatively new coach I think he caters to the vets to try Garner their respect, where he doesn't really have to do that with younger players.

I just hope Luke has the balls to go with Kuz and not Randle.

I'm definitely Team Kuzma but Luke may want his scoring off the bench. It also may help shield him as a rookie with regards to expectations that he now maintain this level of play over 82 games as a starter. Just a thought as to why he may consider Randle over Kuzma.

Exactly you hit it on the nail. He is adopting the same conservative approach like Phil and others. Kuz is nba ready and arguably the second in line for Roty after Simmons. He is the best player we have currently. You don’t shield your best players.

Randle has had his best games this season, coming off the bench. The energy he brings to the second unit is indispensable.

Kuz would be replacing Nance in the starting lineup not Randle.

Update:

That’s not too bad. I was hoping he returns before the new year. Might see him return around Christmas.

I’m going to go against the majority and say Luke should start Randle. I think you need Randle’s rebounding next to Lopez. Kuzma will still get plenty of minutes, but as many as possible of those should be next to Randle, not Lopez.

Randle and Kuzma should both be in line for 30-32 minutes per night and Bogut or Zubac can fill in for 8-10.(Unless Deng is back in the rotation)

This may not be a nice thing to say but I forgot that Ding is suiting up for the Lakes. I guess I haven’t missed seeing him on the floor

Whew; I thought they might have given Dang the node to start in the next game. You know to show him off for a trade! It’s kind of funny to think our star veteran doesn’t play that much. I’m friends think they’re saving him for the playoffs.... you know “Release the kraken” sort of thing. Catch everyone off guard!

I read an article today confirming what I suspected to be true at the start of the year. The most effective lineup features Randle next to Lopez. When they are on the floor together they have a defensive rating of 79. When they are paired with Ball, KCP and BI their offensive rating is 122. That’s a 43 point differential per 100 possessions. Granted it is a small sample size, but it makes sense to take a close look at it. With the lack of perimeter shooting on this team putting Randle and Nance isn’t going to work. They both need to have either Lopez or Kuzma with them.

Speaking of perimeter shooting, the fourth best shooter on the team is languishing on the bench. I know Deng will never earn his contract and we want to get him to take a buyout, but he deserves and we need him to get some minutes. Listening to Kuz and Nance being interviewed the other day, the first vet they mentioned as mentoring them both was Deng. I know everyone is upset about his contract and he had a horrible year shooting last year, but as bad as it was there are guys shooting worse in the rotation this year. Give the guy a chance.

I totally agree that Deng should be given minutes in playing. Lakers lacks shooters and he will definitely has the proven talent to contribute. An example is Brewer, last season he was hardly used but look the way he is playing now, most specially in defense, he is playing exceptionally well because he has slowly gained his confidence. This should be done to Deng also, let him earn his millions of salary. If there is anybody who should not be on the court, it should be Coach Walton itself who is so miserable in coaching the team. Like the youngsters in the team, this coach is still in the learning process.
